Joe Avila out as Huizar's Chief of Staff

Joe Avila is out as Chief of Staff to Councilman Jose Huizar.
Avila who was known to be "direct and blunt" in his dealings with members of the public, is replaced by former Metrolink spokesperson Peter Hildago.
It fell upon Avila to "right the ship" that was the lack of services provided by the staff of CD 14. This lack of service and other ethical issues were the "talking points" of the Parra challenge against his old boss Huizar.

We at the "RED SPOT INSTITUTE" wish Avila the best in his future endeavors and in his honor, repost the famous "HOMER PARRA" piece, or was it "HOMER AVILA"?

Not an unrelated question, now. Will "Homer" Parra take a stab at Fabian Nunez's old seat, too? (The seat he said last year Huizar would jump City Council to take over?)

DOH, and have Huizar take a 30-40 percent pay cut to run for Assembly?

On the other hand, the $120K state legislator's salary would probably be a 5-fold increase for woeful (not dough-ful) El Sereno "business" man Parra.

Good afternoon Professor Spot (tips hat):

Seeing that the illustrious Mister Avila has left his post, we felt that perhaps a song about his departure was in order. (Looks around for Bard) Bard? Are you about? (Realizing that he is the Bard, Captain Jack steps up to microphone) Oh bugger. I'm the Bard. (Sighs) Very well then, hold your nose. (Bard opens up mouth and begins to sing):

Jose Huizar’s office
The best gig in town.
I deal with clueless staffers.
I work for a clown.
But now I’ve hit the dusty trail
On the road to another job.
If my reputation wasn't sucking
I know I could keep on trucking…..

(Chorus)
No I'm not a poser
Nor a cheap brown-noser
I’m just a guy looking for work.
I’ve got connections.
Who me? Rig an election?
You might even say that I’m a jerk.
But my talents while are many
Political secrets I know plenty
Call me if you want to get the dirt.

This place from which I've been fired
They all claim I'm shirking
Say I'm never working
I’m not on the internet
Trying to intercept
Bloggers who say stupid things.
Of them, I am a-smirking…...

(Chorus)
No I'm not a poser
Nor a cheap brown-noser
I’m just a guy looking for work.
I’ve got connections.
Who me? Rig an election?
You might even say that I’m a jerk.
But my talents while are many
Political secrets I know plenty
Call me if you want to get the dirt.

The constituents? All dumbasses.
Contributions? From the masses.
But now I’ve been ejected from my seat.
What it was I didn’t deliver
Now makes me look like I’m chopped liver.
And now I’ll have to head into the street……

(Chorus)
No I'm not a poser
Nor a cheap brown-noser
I’m just a guy looking for work.
I’ve got connections.
Who me? Rig an election?
You might even say that I’m a jerk.
But my talents while are many
Political secrets I know plenty
Call me if you want to get the dirt.

All in all it was a good run.
Did some traveling, had some fun.
Got to go to some nice parties on the hill.
Where am I going? I won’t say.
You can’t make me. Nope. No way.
But I’ll tell you this before I have to run…….

(Chorus)
No I'm not a poser
Nor a cheap brown-noser
I’m just a guy looking for work.
I’ve got connections.
Who me? Rig an election?
You might even say that I’m a jerk.
But Jose needs something more
And that’s why I’m out the door.
But I won’t lose all my nice City perks!
I’ve got something else in mind.
It requires a suit and tie…….

I’m off to DWP to do public works!

(BIG FINISH)

Yes, I’m off to DWP
The HR Director….I thank thee……..
Yes I’m off to do some……

MAJOR……
PUBLIC……..
WORKS……….!!!

Oh yeah………………..

I never heard of this guy, but if he's blunt and to the point, perhaps he will run against Huizar; a self-serving, self-aggrandizing "showman" who never delivers results for his district or the city.

If I have to hear him brag about his alma maters one more time, I'll go nuts.

If delivering results for the district ever had anything to do with running for, winning, or keeping the council position in CD14, then the:

80 FAKE NEIGHBORHOOD WATCHES

...would have never become a blog-hold phrase around here for Villaraigosa.

When was the last time constituent service was ever worth snot anywhere on the Eastside???

YOU SAID "I never heard of this guy, but if he's blunt and to the point, perhaps he will run against Huizar; a self-serving, self-aggrandizing "showman" who never delivers results for his district or the city."

This is what was written about Huizar in the election against Alvin Parra. If nothIng else, we agree that "Grassroots campaigns' cant exist in CD14

The LA Times saidL: "What does a challenger have to do to win an election in this town? A look at the sign-in sheet at Huizar's victory bash at Salesian High School in Boyle Heights tells part of the story. In addition to name and phone number, there was a place for guests to fill in their affiliation, and most wrote in the names of labor unions, community groups, businesses or even other campaigns. Rare was the guest who could simply call himself a neighbor, or a community member. A city council election in a district of more than a quarter million people is won by coalitions of organizations, most of which can turn out voters and campaign workers for a candidate who will remember they were on the team and will pick up the phone in the coming months when they call. Grassroots campaigns backed by the common man or woman, by families or by neighbors, are inspiring.
BUT IN L.A., IT SEEMS, AT LEAST, IN RECENT YEARS, THEY DON'T WIN"

Nah, they don't win because we LIKE the slick, pretty mailers with glossy one-line lies that tie up easily in a bow for us all we DON'T know about local government. Plus we're afraid, perhaps justifiably, that the "grass roots" leaders would get beat to death by the forces that really run government.

It's like they're jiggling a ring of keys in front of a squalling baby, when the Parque Skelton's of local politics let loose on the doofuses that we are (and that they snicker about all the way to the bank) and tell us "Jimmy Hahn's corrupt" and so-and-so candidate is "sleazy," it soothes our nerves that we're picking the right candidate.

We just coo and drool and push the inka-dot ballot for the guy walking next to his picture-perfect family (that he's cheating on with newcaster bimbos that same night), and say "they're all the same" - and least this one makes me "smile" when I read his mailers.

What do you expect from an electorate made up of 50 percent LAUSD drop outs? Maybe it's even consiracy? LAUSD keeps us stupid, so we keep voting for the people that hike the salaries for the teachers making us that way. It's a "planned obsolesence" of thinking people who can actually figure out who the real scoundrels are.

As for recording contracts, our Bard has already fulfilled his recording contracts. (Whispers) It's just the Grammy that eludes him. We don't mention it for it makes him cranky, and nobody loves a cranky Bard, savvy?

Sorry . . . changing the outgoing message on your answering machine once a week don't count as a "recording contract" even if you did shake your own hand on it.

Nice try.

And as for your chances with a "Grammy" -- well, what you do in your time off the blog with your GILF is none of our business, nor do we give a damn.

(But . . . YUCK!)

The dumb ass kids from Inner City Struggle with their damn fists in the air (Brown Powewr). Is there any wonder why there is racial tension in the schools? Monica Garcia walking yet, not doing a damn thing about the over crowding, poor conditions in many of the Latino schools. The politicans today and elected idiots are a shear EMBARRASSEMENT TO THIS CITY.

"What do you expect from an electorate made up of 50 percent LAUSD drop outs?"

Have you ever considered that illegil alien parents are afraid to make their children behave in this society. Hitler said " Give me a child at seven and he is mine for life". At seven children know how to threathen and intimidate others. They know at twelve that Police wont stop them. They know at 16 they dont have to go to school. At eighteen they know that the biggest kid with the biggest gun rules.

The woman from Drew street with her thirteen children was an illegal, with a record, being funded by the "Santuary Society" your Mayor and Councilmen provided, which caused a community to still live in terror.

We let her in and never sent her back. We are to blame.

Avila was an anti-union arrogant asshole who hated his job and talked smack about his boss and his staff whenever he thought no one would be around to hear it.

He made a joke out of Huizar plenty of times that this blog covered and that's just what made the blog. Most of the real scoop never gets out of city hall.

Avila got the job with DWP because he was a rat a few years ago and leaked a confidential CLA memo to DWP when they needed it most.

When Huizar finally told him to get lost Avila reminded DWP that he was their rat in the hall, so they threw him some cheese. Here's hoping when all those "budget cuts" start being rolled out, the last one hired will be the first one fired at DWP.
