When Did Praying Become A Zoning Violation?
In this country you're supposed to be able to practice your religion in private without the interference of the government or others. But tony Hancock Park - the home of Tony - is a bit upset of late that Jews have come to town. Now its probably not anything new that Jews live in Hancock Park - but its apparently a particular flavor of Jews - the Orthodox variety - that have neighbors in a tizzy.I guess these new residents like to do crazy things such as worship at home or educate their children in their own schools. Its so bad the NIMBYs put city inspectors on the worshiping Jews during their services. Fortunately the folks stood tall, refused to leave and received an apology from Tony Villar, Wacko Jacko and Tom LeBong. That's good.

Dude, I live two blocks away from the synagogue. While busting up their yom kippur services is deplorable, the synagogue should NOT be there. It's a residential neighborhood. They get about hundred people there for services. It's disruptive. Not to mention that the house is ugly as shit.
Sam, why do you invite this garbage? You know that with the kind of posters and followers ZD, matt and even Red Spot have acquired, this antisemitic and racist garbage is all you'll attract by way of "comment."
These Orthodox Jews don't drive on the Sabbath, so there were no parking issues which is the usual big thing. neighbors object to with groups. Also no amplified services, nothing loud than a private party gathering, and quieter, since those usually have music, loud chatter.
People may object to zoning, but as it's zoned for a school, every school also has parent evenings and things that go on at night. This is no worse, even quieter than that and again, no parking. This was the holiest day of their year, not something they do all the time. They don't conduct weekly night services anywhere near that big.
Someone just has nothing better to do than bust them up during services. I wish I had this sort of problem in my hood -- when I get a hundred people together, it's for a loud party going on until late into the night, drunk people and cars everywhere and blocking our garages and entrances.

Yeah, well the real difference between this shul and yo' mamma, is if she does pray, it's "LOL, how'd I raise such a son, to be making such irreverent statements and cavorting instead with mutts and doggs!"

B&S didn't "burst in." Campaign contributors were there - the only reason this Jewish SCHOOL has the power to make a big deal out of NOTHING. They should not be using the SCHOOL for a CHURCH after they promised the city they wouldn't. Period. It's not anti-semitic, it's the law.
