Should Hillary Divorce Villaraigosa?

What exactly is a "national co-chair" of a presidential campaign? Is it like a dinette set or something?

Anyway, Hillary Clinton has apparently appointed, as "national co-chairs" of her campaign, the following people so far:

U.S. Senator Bob Menendez;
Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa;
U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski;
Former Iowa Goveror Tom Vilsack;
Florida Contresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz;
Flordia Congressman Alcee Hastings;
Ohio Rep. Stephanie Tubbs;
California Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez; and
Former National Council of La Raza President Raul Yzaguirre.

Remember those "Members Only" jackets in the 1980's? Looks like being a "National Co-Chair" is equally exclusive, which is to say, "not very."

Anyhow, here's my question for you: Given that she has more co-chairs than your grandmother's table at Thanksgiving -- shades of Dan Rather, I know -- should she consider showing co-chair Villaraigosa the door? I mean, his current personal difficulties sort of bring up her past difficulties, which maybe detracts from whatever her platform is. Or is the title so meaningless as not to matter?

Alcee Hastings? Leave it to the Clintons to have shady figures on their team. Look at the Clinton connection at the end:

In 1981 Judge Hastings was charged with accepting a $150,000 bribe in exchange for a lenient sentence and a return of seized assets for 21 counts of racketeering by Frank and Thomas Romano, and of perjury in his testimony about the case. He was acquitted by a jury after his alleged co-conspirator, William Borders, refused to testify in court (resulting in a jail sentence for Borders).

In 1988, the Democratic-controlled U.S. House of Representatives took up the case, and Hastings was impeached for bribery and perjury by a vote of 413-3. Voters to impeach included Democratic Representatives Nancy Pelosi, Steny Hoyer, John Conyers and Charles Rangel. He was then convicted in 1989 by the United States Senate, becoming the sixth federal judge in the history of the United States to be removed from office by the Senate. The vote on the first article was 69 for and 26 opposed, providing five votes more than the two-thirds of those present that were needed to convict. The first article accused the judge of conspiracy. Conviction on any single article was enough to remove the judge from office. The Senate vote cut across party lines, with Senator Patrick J. Leahy, Democrat of Vermont voting to convict his fellow party member, and Arlen Specter voting to acquit.

The Senate had the option to forbid Hastings from ever seeking federal office again, but did not do so. Alleged co-conspirator William Borders went to jail again for refusing to testify in the impeachment proceedings, but was later given a full pardon by Bill Clinton on his last day in office.

you guys might as well shut down the blog, and take a break for a couple of days.

Rocky's latest triumph is being released from jail. Like it or not, its perfect timing for him and the Mayor.

Paris Hilton will be the news. he's made her a heroine now.

we know what it's like to be an outlaw Paris. welcome back.

god knows how long this post jail episode will last, but I'm guessing no serious media business will be conducted due to the 'saleable' nature of the Paris material.

good work Rocky, smokescxreen reactivated, on with business.

Why would she dump him? He has received positive national media attention. The recent spate of nastiness has not escaped L.A. Even in L.A., Rocky's issues have received far more attention(imagine) than the Mayor's affairs.

If it gets worse and/or escapes L.A., then the worst that would happen is that he would simply not be highlighted by Clinton. If it gets REALLY bad, he might not get the 2008 keynote and endorsements he was (perhaps) promised.

Unlikely. At least unlikely while local/national media keeps towing the line.

Hey Walter, which presidential candidate has named you his or her "co-chair"? Just curious. Jealously does not become you.

In one of your more recent posts here, you made a big deal of who contributed to Villariagosa's campaign. I checked the City's Ethics Web Sites but couldn't find out who has contributed to your camapign for 2009. Walter, please list your donors, and the amounts they contributed, at Mayor Sam's.

Or do I need a "Members Only" jacket to know who has contributed to you? What do you have to hide, anyway? You and your wife have valid driver's licenses and insurance, right?

11:26pm.

Make sure to ask if the Elvis impersonator had a valid license to marry folks.

And Walter before you go off and assume someone from the Mayor's operation or some stupid staffer wrote this -- why don't you just lexis-nexis yourself and find the stupid washington times story on you.

I mean shit, any college student can find out this information on you.

You are not that special.

Gotta love the few Antonio supporters left. Matt Dowd still chiming in as the village idiot. Antonio will hurt Hillary in the long run especially now that women all know what a cheating bastard he is. Problem is Hillary was too weak to leave Bill cause she liked the limelight and played the victim not the strong woman. Latino women hate cheaters and the alignment of Hillary with Antonio will lose tons of those votes she wants to get. Won't happen. No one watches or much less reads local newspapers hardly anymore. More and more people are turning to blogs and the internet to get informed. The escapes of our midget mayor have been sent via e-mail with links all over the nation. How's that for outreach?

Unless their is voter fraud or the Republican nominee really screws up. Hillary will not be President.
Aligning herself with these sketchy people doesn't help at all.
Not even with the Latinos.
