Marcos Jumps The Shark
Red Spot broke the news; indeed Academia Semillas del Pueblo has finally jumped the shark.More by clicking read me.
They are suing KABC and Doug McIntyre for slander. Nothing could be more rich. The school claims that "racist" and "slanderous" remarks made by the talk host led to bomb threats and other security problems for the school.
Academia has probably done a great favor for Doug as this will drive his ratings even higher. Cable news shows and other media outlets will feature and interview him. This is excellent for his career.
Yet another lazy journalist has found an alleged "expert," a professor from USC who says "shock jocks are not new." Obviously he's not listened to McIntyre. Doug is a thoughtful, funny, entertaining host who is extremely well educated and can cite every page of the Federalist Papers if he had to. Nut job liberals might be surprised to know that he's bashed President Bush almost as much as Academia principal Marcos Aguilar.
This frivolous lawsuit will be quickly tossed aside by the courts. ABC has the legal firepower necessary. In the meantime, Academia will waste precious money that could be used for students on this joke of a lawsuit.
What should be investigated is why LAUSD staff members - who found Academia's renewal as a charter school to be without merit - suddenly changed their tune a few weeks later.

In other new last week, Southwest Airlines announced that it is adding an additional nonstop, daily flight between Dallas and Albuquerque.
And this blog jumped the shark . . . OH, about 15 months ago. Now when it's name is mentioned in halls of local power, people just shake their heads and grin, of THAT one . . . nevermind!
Never even got the "renewal" MArcos's school did.

Still, there's an occasional giggle when the cut-and-pasters go wild during election season with paranoid delusions.
I have to agree with 12:15am on this one.
Mayor Sam is not what it used to be. It's an obvious biased blog that I must say has taints of neo-racism.
Zuma was decent for a while and still has some relevant posts--but sorely needs to change his act and become a more legit voice in the city to become relevant again.
Mayor Sam's posts resemble a man who has become blind to the reality that current politics and life is much more complex politically, economically, socially, and culturally. This is not the good ol' boy and noir days of 60's L.A. anymore. You are far from an objective facilitator of this blog and have wasted much of the potential this blog possessed of really representing a forum for the backyard of L.A. politics.
Lastly, Walter Moore is an arrogant snob whose views reflect a closeted racist. His so-called policies that would improve L.A. are flawed and do not consider that L.A. needs a mixed economy that welcomes immigrants and the taxing of the rich who benefit from the work of lower classes. His constant references to this is what an 'economist' would determine are laughable. Have you ever worked for a elected political official or public finance body? If so, then that public official must have been lame. All you have to do is take international economics 101 to realize that the World Bank and IMF have never just been about economics. Politics and uneven development are always involved, therefore applying to Los Angeles' position in this global economy. RAND would laugh at your idiotic posts and sophmoric policy positions. And please don't even run for Mayor because Moore is not better, but fatally flawed.
And back to my first point, this blog still has potential but needs be more discursive in nature, rather that wield spin reeking of bitter views from men who cannot properly function in society.

As I explained in a comment to the other post , the anti-SLAPP statute should take care of this frivolous lawsuit.
As for those who profess not to like this blog, how curious that it stopped being any good 15 months ago, yet yere you are, 15 months later, still reading it. Do us all a favor: start your own blog, and stop coming here.
As for the other comments, you say "arrogant snob" like that's a bad thing. As for your "understanding" of economics, it seems you're too timid to put your name behind your comments. That speaks volumes, don't you think? Rather than using your own name, on your own blog, to try to convince anyone you're right with facts or logic, you come here and engage in name-calling. I almost feel sorry for you!
Some observations: You will always find criticism on this blog regarding whether named contributor's have valid positions and some discussion is presented in most instances. Then you have the simple put-downs and name calling. It's variety that's there. Not each post is productive of thought or even an example of constructive thought in the first place.
For example, ZD may take up lots of screen space, but you don't have to read everything or anything he writes. Some of his content mystifies, but most of it is very direct. Agreement with it is totally an independent process.
If the blog is irrelevant or laughed off, then don't worry, move on and let the posters continue what you think is wasting time- it's only opinion and you don't have to agree. That's part of the idea of being able to make comments.

Sure, LA needs LEGAL well-educated, immigrants with skills that will benefit the city. What LA doesn't need, and has way too much of, are ILLEGAL ALIENS from third world countries with little skills who undercut working-class wages and drain social services.
People keep saying this blog is history and that its over, but they've been saying that since day one. And then they keep reading. Traffic has never gone down (it always goes up a lot right around elections) and in fact the last two weeks we've seen some jumps especially in the visit to page view ratio which means you're reading more.

Oh by the way, I find it laughable for you to call me a racist. If anyone knows me or my personal history, I am far from racist. However, I guess I do espouse views that SOME liberals now call racist, but average, ordinary, thinking people of all colors would not. To be opposed to illegal immigration is not racist. If that's the case there are a hell of a lot of racist Latinos, Asians and Blacks out there.
But I digress. Its also a joke to call McIntyre a racist let alone the ever horrible "hater" or a "shock jock." There isn't a more thoughtful, rational, well-educated, talented and amusing host on air in the mornings or just about anytime than Doug.
Quite frankly, you'll find more racism at stations like KPFK and Airhead America. Listen to some of the anti-white rhetoric there. They're even hating on ultra leftist white liberals; that's why there is a major lawsuit and more coming at KPFK.
This lawsuit is a joke, its not illegal to talk about the Aztecs and its not illegal to call a public school on the carpet. Honestly the issue is I believe that Academia and its groupies know that the jig is just about up, that McIntyre has the goods on them, he's exposed them more than they ever thought they would be. And I think there is more that he knows he hasn't put on the air but it will come up in the trial and then be fair game for all of us.
I hope LAUSD gets the hint that Academia should be focusing on their issues and not filing frivilous lawsuits in an attempt to intimidate their critics.
And remember it wasn't any of Doug's supporters that were trying to run anyone over with a car. And you can't say that he made that up because LAPD and the District Attorney obviously had enough evidence to prosecute the guy.

Take it easy mayor sam, this is a democratic country and everyone have their own views. What is racism basically, just a group of community working for their own community and trying to develop it together as a team. Now if one finds themselves stuck in a situation where the individual does not belong to the then majority community there is some inferiority complex developed and this inferiority complex later leads to ideas like one is getting deprived of some facilities. Inability to achieve goals following local laws and regulations also lead to this kind of motivated thoughts of racism been out there. In reality whoever is accusing other person of racism in not clean themselves cause the accuser generally has some mental block that was never cleared, this is the best example of illiteracy dwelling in the community.
And why should one talk about International Economics and issues like these, when one know that World Bank decisions are majorly influenced by Americans. And what has world economics have to do local issues, its not the taxpayer here. Its the legal taxpayer here that are requesting the government to kindly keep the illegal immigrants at the bay, cause these legal taxpayers do not wish to spend their hard earned money for the illegals here. So if the legal taxpayers are displaying their discontent in the governments handling of the illegal immigrants to the country, this discontent matter should be taken seriously by the government, if not then it does not take long for the government to become history.
If the free speech is removed, how can one call America is a Democratic country, it would rather be dictatorship...

On a day filled with sorrow and grief, it is hard for me to restrain my emotions over your conitation. I am typing this in a numb state over the loss of a childhood friend, father, loving husband who overcame a childhood in proverty to acheive the "AMERICAN DREAM" of home ownership and comfort of living. David did not need no Academia to build his "SELF-ESTEEM". He had a loving mom who single-handedly
raised him and his three other siblings. David just so happen to be a "AMERICAN" of Mexican descent. It would be easy to subcome to the desire to lash at you.... But the "BETTER ANGEL OF MY SOUL" would rather honor my dear friend by reaching out to your soul, and make you understand that honoring character is better than attacking base upon ethnicity.

Mexicans need to be complaining to the Mexican government. The second richest person in the entire world, for god's sake, is Mexican. While 75% of people in that country live in squalor or near-squalor, their elites sit back and enjoy income from remittances and oil and do nothing to encourage improvement in the Mexican economy.
The gringos on the other hand actually been relatively good to the illegals. Giving them jobs they could never get back home, largely overlooking the fact that they came to the U.S. against U.S. immigration law. It's time for Marcos Aguilar and the other Mexicans/Aztecs to start complaining about the people who run their own country.

They can't justify a school's expenditure of time and money suing a person for criticizing the school, so they have to change the subject. Next time, let's not fall for it; let's not take the bait. Next time, let's ignore the red herring and hammer away at the issue.
