Yesterday
we mused on about Trader Joe's, the place to go for cut rate brie and chablis sold to you by friendly folks in Hawaiian shirts. I didn't know that the blog Recentering El Pueblo had
published their take on the topic a week or two back. The blog notes that the 300 store chain which operates in 18 states has two stores in West Hollywood and three in Pasadena. However there is not one Trader Joe's anywhere in CDs 8, 9 or 10 - an area with a population larger than many major cities in the US and much larger than most Southern California cities with branches of the stores.
Adam writing for the blog says that he prefers Mercado Numero Uno on Jefferson not too far from USC. He enjoys the traditional Mexican dishes prepared at the in-store branch of Gallo Giro, a panaderia and the aguas fresca bar. Sounds delicious! Can we trade one Trader Joe's from the Valley for a Mercado Numero Uno?

Uh, where is the Trader Joe's in the Northeast Valley or CD-07? Is it in Pacoima? San Fernando? Sylmar? Mission Hills? Sun Valley? Lake View Terrace?
This area has over 200,000 population. And an appreciation for many Trader Joe products.
Uhhhh the valley has a shitload of Mercado Numero Uno type markets.
Get your head out of your ass and venture north of the Boulevard!
Where is the Trader Joe's in the Highland Park, City Terrace Boyle Heights,El Sereno?

Yuk! Gimme diversity.
Geez Louise - yesterday's blog inspired me for my monthly TJ's run - golly, I saw black folks and even a hispanic. Of course they weren't tying up the aisles yacking on their cell phones - so I guess they really didn't belong ...
