Jim Alger OK after health scare
Over the last few weeks we have received several emails regarding various rumors centering around the health of our friend, LANCC Senator and Vice Chair Jim Alger. One even questioning whether or not he died, literally.Many have noticed Alger's conspicuous absence even when a few dum dum Lyn Shaw supporters decided to attack him for "not offering help" to the Democratic Party (turns out as usual they were speaking out of their ass). Additionally, it had been announced at the last LANC Congress meeting that Alger was ill and he has missed several vital NC related meetings. Turns out ill was an understatement.
Several weeks ago, Alger was rushed to the emergency room after complaining of a severe headache and subsequently collapsing. He was treated for bleeding on the brain apparently brought on by critically high blood pressure. He has been recovering in his Porter Ranch home since.
The irony is that despite his poor health, and contrary to the jack-asses who can't resist kicking a guy when he is down, Jim is helping several local candidates, offering them use of his auto-dialers for outreach efforts. He tells the Sister City in an email today that he has even offered the dialers to the Lyn Shaw campaign. Of course I was going to ask "what campaign?" but figured his blood pressure was high enough.
Alger thanked people for their concern and says that despite the seriousness of everything going on he will be fine. He even brought home his newborn son from the hospital yesterday. 10lb 5oz John Robert is sure to be the newest stakeholder in the Northridge West Neighborhood Council.
"If there is anything I would say it would be take headaches seriously, they can kill you." Alger said.

I had heard that Jim was sick. Glad to hear he is going to be ok.

(Removes hat) The crew and I send our sincere wishes for a speedy recovery and a hearty congratulations on the new arrival. We would invite you to come out with us to go drinking and carousing, but that might not be what the doctor ordered, savvy?
We do have a question for you...when the wind blows in Porter Ranch, which way does it blow? To the right? The left? Or straight down the middle?
CEDILLO, PADILLA, DELEON, NUNEZ AND ROMERO WALK THE PLANK IN TWO WEEKS. The rest walk in March.
The ship is in position, the canons are being loaded and the sots will be nots come Election Day.

Wow Jim, get well soon ok? Kind of goofy searching for you through Google on another slow Monday morning and finding out here you were sick. Very glad to see you're ok and apparently you've made friends with LAFD as well. (Not forgetting us are you?) Just kidding.
Anyhow, stop by next time your in town and take Brian up on his offer. I know the FD will always be in your blood but looks like the political world has called you.

As for those assholes at the Shaw camp, they can't help themselves. Just ignore 'em -- everyone else does.
Shaw got her ass handed to her at central Committee by Jim's slate... too bad Jim lost although he did much better than anyone really thought he would... and carried a slate to boot. The slate that then blocked Shaw-Hilfenhaus from controlling the Regional Director seat occupied by the late Roberta Gillis. GOOD BLOCK JIM!

The dialers were offered in June as Jim conceded to Lyn. Outside of offering to set up a debate between Lyn and Cameron and not following through there has been no contact with the Party or the Shaw campaign and Alger.
And just because Fatboy Higby is out of the loop and/or can't read. Lyn Shaw kicked the crap out of Cameron Smyth in the Signal online poll 1539 to 742 in his home town.
That maybe why the race is closer than Mayor Dufus's best pull it out your ass guess.
I know you won't post this. Mayor Sam sucks and probably gets one thirtieth of the hits it use to get when it had at least some relevance to a public dialogue

No contact with the party? Jim is actively working on 3 seperate campaigns. (at least he was until he got sick, not sure if he still is).

I offered Lyn Shaw in a subsequent personal conversation, a chance to debate Smyth - then I fell ill.
The point I make is that the information regarding what I was offering was given to one person, and then ended up being used against me on this blog. (As with the primary)
The dialers have been accepted by other local Democrats, as have 2 phone banks.
CJ is wrong about one thing. I received a Lyn Shaw mailer yesterday - granted a re-hashed one from the primary but a mailer nonetheless.
Glad to see the campaign that was promised to all democrats of the 38th finally beginning to start, 12 days before the election.
