FLASH: Assembly Rejects THEN PASSES Villaraigosa's LAUSD Bill!

Tonight the media first reported the Assembly rejected the measure, and then reported the Assembly passed it.

During the 6:00 p.m. news, NBC Channel 4 just reported Villaraigosa was 11 votes short, and apparently intends to keep trying -- tonight?

Too many Assembly Members apparently had this crazy idea that the people of L.A. itself, rather than legislators from around the state, should decide the fate of L.A.'s schools.

After hearing this report, I posted: "I gotta tell you: I didn't see this one coming. I thought it was a done deal."

As of 8:00 p.m., it turned out it WAS a done deal: the L.A. Times reports the Assembly subsequently passed the bill.

Jackie Goldberg officializes her candidacy for LAUSD superintendent

Earlier Tuesday, the Assembly Education Committee passed the bill, AB 1381 by Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez (D-Los Angeles), on a 7-2 vote, with chair Jackie Goldberg (D-Los Angeles) recusing herself after announcing that she was a candidate to become the next superintendent of L.A. Unified.

"I'm going to recuse myself out of an abundance of caution," Goldberg said before the committee vote. "I've checked — there is no legal conflict of interest, but I think there's an ethical conflict of interest in choosing between the two sides on this."

8:05p you're an idiot!!! The neighborhoood council reps had 51 councils that voted to support them. When you have a gangster mayor, clowncil members rep'ng us why bother even trying. We know how corrupt they are just look at how they ignored Rocky and put the Measure R on the ballot very sneaky. Let's see how the judge decides on the ammendment to make them change the language so it doesn't hide the fact that its not a ethics reform issue at all but term limit extension.

Where is the documentation and proof that 51 neighborhood councils voted for your gadfly legislation.

Swow us the proof.

Yes, show the proof, you fucking NIMBY!

What's important is how many neighborhood councils take a stand on Measure R.

Why do you think all congress members are nimby's?

I can distinguish the NIMBYs from a crowd of NC board members just like Wacko can distinguish the illegals from a crowd of Latinos getting off of a bus, from a second-story window.

Now that City Hall staffers are busy patting each other on the back and rushing out to change their pants after pissing all over the citizens of our fair city, the rest of us have a few moments to quietly collect our gear before heading out to open water.

I’ll ask again – Walter Moore, are you willing to sail with a pirate crew? Neil Donner sails with a pirate crew. Drinks are on me in honor of Neil!

We’ve got a little more than 8 weeks to maneuver ourselves into a position to overtake the Good Ship Lollipop and press gang those aboard it into true service for the sake of the people. These are the targets that are up for election and re-election to the State Legislature: Gloria Romero, Alex Padilla, Kevin DeLeon, Fabian Nunez. All of them are willing to pander to Villarbarbosa and all four of them support those who would strip us of our Constitutional rights.

THESE FOUR WALK THE PLANK. If all four should fall , it leaves Villarbarbosa and the rest of the Clowncil open to removal from office. City Hall staffers then lose jobs and those among them who seek to sit in the captain’s chair instead find themselves treading water. Savvy?

Mark my words. You can ignore what you cannot see. But it’s what you cannot see that ultimately leads to the sinking of a ship.
