LOS ANGELES POLICE: Radio Reporter Assaulted Near School

/noticias.info/ Los Angeles: A Los Angeles radio reporter was assaulted this morning when a man drove a sedan at the reporter, then later tried to take the reporter’s recording equipment.

Alexander (Sandy) Wells, a reporter for McIntyre in the Morning on KABC 790 AM, was calling his station around 7:30 AM when he saw a sedan coming toward him out of his peripheral vision.

"Wells at first thought, ‘Why is this guy driving so fast with all these kids around?’" said Detective Charles Markel of the Hollenbeck Detective Division. "Then he realized the car was coming for him."

Wells had just finished trying to interview parents, students, and administrators at the Academia Semillas del Pueblo Charter School, which was across the street from where he was standing, in the 4700 block of Huntington Drive in El Sereno.

Wells was able to get out of the way of the nondescript silver sedan and ran to his nearby car. The sedan followed him and stopped. A Hispanic man in his twenties got out of the sedan and tried to take Wells’ recording equipment, which was slung over his shoulder.

Wells was able to fend off the assailant, who drove away with only the audio tape from Wells’ recorder.

"There were a number of witnesses to this assault," said Detective Markel. "We’d like anyone who saw what happened to call us."

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Markel at 323-526-3008. On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free number at 1-877-LAWFULL (529-3855).

$$ is all part of the elections...

and speaking of Cindy...howabout all her signs on the freeway offramps/exits? Tons of those...yet none from APad. I guess obeying the law works better than breaking it.

The Montanez-Padilla race was a good one.

I don't want to engage in speculation of how Cindy could and should have won the race. I think she had a good field team who worked hard to mobilize voters.

Her team did alientate a lot of good, local activists in the NE San Fernando Valley who would have normally stood by her had not her Districit Director/San Fernando City Councilman Steve Veres not rubbed many of them the wrong way. His arrogance and attempt to isolate them from San Fernando politics led many to support Padilla. MAPA is a case in point.

Best to Alex.

And Alex did it without AV's support.

4:52: The signs appeared in my area on Sunday morning and by Monday they were all torn up and and left on the ground. It didn't help that these signs were about a mile away from Alex's HQ and easy pickings for his people.

CONGRATULATIONS PADILLA. YEAH, THAT'S ONE FOR THE GOOD GUYS. HE DIDN'T NEED AV LIKE EVERYONE SAID AND HE WON.

Antonio must be really pissed because people in the valley are sending a strong message to him. His endorsement didn't mean shit. I said it before Antonio hurt himself by aligning himself so closely with the illegals.

Rocky will forever be known as the only guy to get an athletic scholarship from a school that doesn't give them!

How great the taste of honesty!

Rock's hair implants, teeth bonding, and resume puffery got him nowhere, and created fodder for the next election.

You are a lying, liar! We always knew this, and now it's indefensible and public.

That's another victory for the Pacoima Boys - Tony and Alex - over Parke Skelton. So much for Tony the liar's midas touch. But that's what Cindy gets for giving up her ass to the highest bidder - or in this case, the most sought after consultant. It's ironic that Cindy and her sister supported Xavier Becerra over Antonio in the 2001 primary. What now Cindy, Felipe will get his revenge for what Parke did to his aunt. I guess it's back to work at Alarcon's office. Get that college degree so that you can request higher pay.

Lyn Shaw-Hilfenhaus is leading Jim Alger by 795 votes. I doubt he can overcome that with provisional and late absentee ballots. What I wanna know is how Jane Lowenthal ended up with 24% of the vote, obviously those voters had never met her or heard her speak.

It was nice to see that Jim Hilfenhaus didn't win for county committee, nor did Lyn's new (and dead) best friend Roberta Gillis. 5 of the 7 winners for the 38th are from Santa Clarita.

Both Cindy and Alex ran a great campaign. Congratulations to Alex. Cindy, see you on the City Council. In the 45th. Christina was the one to beat. I dont't think Elena understood that since her camp was about attacking the New Boys Network. Congrats to Christine for her hard work. Kevin we always knew you would win!!!

Hillarious that Rocky couldn't get through on the phone to formally concede to Jerry Brown.

Jerry was overheard say: Rocktard who?

Skelton sucks. Cindy ran a mailbox campaign- She also got a late start, if a start at all. the 20th is huge, Padilla was told not to alienate non hispanics. Cindy never reached out beyond latinos. James Acevedo pulled the strings on his puppet well. It was simply a case of superior campaigning. It's good to see that you have to do more than chant si se puede, with AV to win. Too bad- Cindy's campaign was outgunned, she was the better of two very mediocre candidates.

Cindy's campaign was based in San Fernando. Padilla's in mission hills. Acevedo said he wanted to take Alex to the Senate. I guess he meant state senate. Cindy won't have to go back to work, she will run for CD-7.

I guess 8:41 can't count to a majority in the 38th AD county committee. Shaw-Hilfenhaus has the votes and when Mc Farland is remove for cause take a guess who replaces him.
