Crikey! Look Who's Hunting Reggie Now!

"So far, 10 men from three outfits have been unable to catch him. It's a local laugher. Steve Irwin, the colorful Australian 'Crocodile Hunter' from TV, is on deck as the next hunter who will stake his reputation, at no charge, on capturing Reggie, officials said." [From the Bradenton Herald, Florida.]

And just how do you catch an amphibian? The other other white meat, of course.

Could be trouble. He's a Crocodile Hunter, not an Alligator Hunter.

as long as he dangles his baby, Reggie should take the bait and he can catch him.

Irwin, Schmirwin, he's bogus. He's not feeding that animal; he's teasing it and using his baby for a prop to manipulate the rubes in his audience.
Making loud noises, broad gestures and facial expressions like a moron on Ritalin, Irwin's lowest priority is the welfare of the animal, which he usually has confined (cornered) by his henchmen.
Hey! Making loud noises, broad gestures and facial expressions like a moron on Ritalin to manipulate the rubes in his audience... he's a natural for L.A. City council member! Move over Hahn and Labonge, here come the King of the Fools! Pumpkin bread for Reggie! WOO HOO!

I learn something every day! One day, I learned two things! Here's more on reptiles vs. amphibians, and thank you -- sincerely! -- for pointing out the difference, 9:25.

Dear Earl,
What's the difference between a reptile and an amphibian?
Conrad, Age 12

Dear Conrad,
The St. Louis Zoo sums up the differences between the two. Amphibians such as frogs and salamanders have moist skin without scales. Reptiles like snakes, lizards, and turtles have dry scaly skin.

The reproductive system and life cycle of the two are also different. In amphibians, the male places sperm on the female's eggs externally. In reptiles, the male deposits sperm inside the female. Amphibians lay soft eggs in water, while reptiles lay hard eggs on land.

Some reptiles even give birth to live young. Baby amphibians change from a larval stage to a mature stage -- like how tadpoles grow up to be frogs. Baby reptiles look very similar to adult reptiles. You can learn more in our Reptiles and Amphibians category.
