Stuckey Seeking Severance

According to the LA Times, Guerdon H. Stuckey's attorney, Edward Lear, would not disclose how much of a severance package he is seeking, but two high-level City Hall sources said the ousted manager wants at least 11 months worth of salary plus moving expenses, or about $155,000.

Umm, yeah... about that.... I'm glad to also read in the LA Times that council aides familiar with behind-the-scene discussions said it appears unlikely the council will overturn Villaraigosa's decision to fire Stuckey. "There doesn't seem to be much support for it."

Now let's hope they also stop the fleecing of our tax money and deny the severance package. He had to see the writing on the wall. After all, the Mayor did campaign on this very issue.

Why should AV care about $155K....it's not his money, it's our money.

Stuckey has a slam-dunk case. Villaraigosa voted FOR Stuckey's appointment to the job. Two months later, in a ploy to get votes, he promised to fire the guy -- just to get votes! That is not good cause to fire a person who's moved cross-country to take a $152,000-per-year job.

Nor can Villaraigosa credibly claim he fired Stuckey for cause. Villaraigosa's proposed replacement, Ed Boks, says it will take FIVE YEARS to make ours a no-kill city -- the exact same timetable as Hahn's.

And all of this is a red herring anyway. Villaraigosa, not the director of Animals Services, is the one who can make our city's shelters no-kill.

Antonio caved into terrorists. Stuckey should get the same severance they gave Willie Williams when he was fired. Weak leader we have as mayor and its showing on his face. Everyone is talking about that worried look Antonio has these days.

Stuckey refused to follow orders from the Mayor's office and the commissioners. He lied to the Mayor and commissioners. He covered up felonies committed by his employees. He gave the spaymobile contract to the person with the lowest evaluation, then he signed the contract for half the agreed upon number of spays. He cost the city $750K with that one mistake. He said the evaluations were lost. He lied and fortunately they were found. He was asked to read a letter from no-kill Winograd and he refused to even open the envelope. He had the nerve to tell this to the commissioners in a public meeting. He lied about the numbers, then lied again, then again. Three different sets of numbers in about three months. I could go on and on.

Don't reward his incompetence and refusal to do his job. All Stuckey did was spin some positive pr for himself in a newsletter and putting more articles on the start page of the animal services website.

He also knew coming into the job that he could be fired at any time. I told him last january after the chula convention that every speaker said they'd fire him if they won. I told him he should consider a job opening in another department for similar pay. Many times he publicly acknowledged that he could be fired at any time and had no job security. He acknowledged this in city council as well.

Don't reward bad people.

The city charter has changed since williams received a severance deal. Stuckey's attorney is an idiot not to know this. He won't get a dime. I hope the city sticks him with costs.

Antonio voted to hire stuckey but stuckey had no track record at the time. It was one of those, let's see if he can do the job. They even said that in public safety meeting. He has done a horrible job. He should be fired for that reason. Antonio was going to fire him before the terrorists asked him to. Don't give Stuckey anything but his walking papers

Someone noted: "Antonio voted to hire stuckey but stuckey had no track record at the time. It was one of those, let's see if he can do the job."

That Stuckey had absolutely no track record in animal services is exactly why Villaraigosa should have voted against him in the first place. There were plenty of qualified people right here. Nor are you correct that Villaraigosa waited to see if Stuckey could do the job; Villaraigosa promised to fire him just two months after voting to hire him.

Does Walter Moore really think we care about his opinion?
Stuckey will get his cash. The council will cave just like AV caved to the "terrorists".

Funny: Walter more wanted to be mayor and he had no qualifications either.

Actually, what I stated was fact, not opinion, i.e., Villaraigos voted for Stuckey, then, just two months later, promised to fire him. Additional fact: Villaraigosa was in office about five months before firing Stuckey.

As for my qualifications, I invite you to visit my website and compare mine to the other candidates'.

Antonio is a wimp. His own constituents voted 70% to pass Measure A but when the citywide ballot measure came up and his constituents pleaded with him to vote yes he did the cowardly thing and voted against his own people. Why? Cause he didn't want Hahn to get the recognition. Now he votes to confirm Stuckey, does the cowardly thing and says he'll fire him but waits 5 months until the animal terrorists threaten him and he caves in. Wake up LA this is our cowardly Mayor who also caved in to threats of DWP striking. Hey, if anyone wants anything from LA just threaten and Antonio will give in.
