LA Times..Union Warns of LA Council of walkout.

Ummmmm Antonio give his aides big raises and still says the city is in a deficit of over $200 million

Who wants to bet they don't walk out and this was a setup to have Antonio look like he's going to fix it and be the hero?

"It would be irresponsible of me, as chief executive of this city, to provide a raise anywhere near what they're asking for at a time when the city is facing a $248 million shortfall," Villaraigosa said.

HELLLOOOOOO WASN'T THE CITY IN THE $248 SHORTFALL WHEN THE CITY APPROVED THE DWP PAY HIKE? YES, YOU IDIOT ANTONIO

AV jacks his top aide's salary by 7.9% in a closed-door meeting and then sings the "can't afford it .. buck stops here" song to the EAA?! Gimme a break. Without getting into the legalities, if the mayor insists that the city can't afford these raises, he should reopen the DWP contract and get all the unions together and negotiate equitably for all (and wouldn't this be good for union solidarity).

Barring this, Aquino should not accept a penny less than what the mayor supported for the DWP.

Antonio is blaming Hahn for the DWP raise. WE know Antonio isn't intelligent just charimatic but c'mon. How many unions do we have in the city? I see them all waiting in line to pull the same shit DWP and EAA are. Its going to be a long ride for AV.

ALL elected officials throughout the country have to deal with unions and the inevitable strikes. And all end up negotiating terms. Don't pretend Hahn stood up to them and said "no" because he didn't.

Archie, you're fulla' sh*t! Hahn did not have budget surpluses all four years, you lying moron! That's why we couldn't hire police and do loads of other things. He cut department budgets. I don't blame him for the budget crisis the City faced because it was statewide. We all would appreciate some honesty.

In fact,

Hahn had budget deficits 3 our of the 4 years he was mayor Archie.

Why lie?

And EAA will not be getting the raise -- they will get a fair deal and that will be the end of that.

But of course, instead of saying Antonio stood up to a union that supported him, Archie and his cronies will make up something like -- Antonio has his friends create conflict so he can look like a problem solver.

I mean Archie, with those straw man arguments how is the Mayor ever to impress you?

"S-Antonio Claus" is coming to town, union boys and girls, good or bad... get in line!

He's checking his list, and YOUR campaign donations appear ALL over it.

The District last night voted to have an election for the seat that AV helped Huizar vacate.

Archie, Archie, Archie -- you seem to belost again in your candyland fantasy of facts.

The budget grew by 500 million, but that doesn't mean the City had a surplus. It was in a deficit from day one -- and was growing out of it -- as for Hertzberg, that was his campaign rhetoric. Which is why no one bought it, because it wasn't exactly true.

Archie, i'd like for you to go on the record now -- is Antonio going to give EAA the sam exact deal as IBEW?

Yes or no?

Simple question -- i think we all know the answer will be no.

Archie,

Show me the quote where Villaraigosa said the same thing about the Hahn budgets.

It was just Hertzberg throwing bombs from the outside trying to get the voters attention.

Villaraigosa never said such a thing.

And to go one step further on the union deal with EAA.

You said you believe it will be closer to 15-16% -- I know for a fact EAA won't be getting that either.

So Archie what happens to your straw man argument when it becomes crystal clear you never had any straw in the first place.

Gotta love John & Ken of KFI. They were protested today for having all week show calling for the execution of Tookie Williams. They will not let up.

Wonder where the Black Panthers are in this? Will they bail out these farmers.

Citybeat...Community members have moved onto the land, living in tents for fear the city will come in and change the locks when nobody is there. At the civil disobedience teaching session, lawyers tried to prepare them for possible consequences, including having an arrest record and what might happen to their children when police take them away.

Antonio keeps blaming Hahn for the DWP pay raise. Ok but why in the hell didn't he raise that question during the mayoral campaign? Because he would lose union votes. So AV is a gutless mayor with no backbone. Trust me the EAA will not strike even if they don't get what they want and AV will come out smelling like a rose. He's a corrupt mayor.
