This is the city: Los Angeles, California. I work here. I'm an ex-mayor. Los Angeles is a magnet for people from all over the world. Some of them run for public office. Inevitably some of them stray from the golden rule and rule for those that have the gold. That's when I go to work. My name is Yorty. I'm a dead pol.

Interesting. No felony charge for disclosing the identity of a CIA operative. Just obstruction perjury and false statement charges. Pretty weak. Must not have all that much on them.

perjury is pretty serious my friend

Really. Let's ask Clinton about how serious.
"I did not have sex with that woman."
"It depends on what the definition of is is."
My point is that he may well have lied during the investigation, but the whole point of the investigation was to determine if someone illegally revealed the identity of a CIA undercover operative.
Much like the Monica fiasco, the perjury charges are jest a sidelight to the real purpose of the investigation and really only serve the purpose of 1) capital politics and 2) givng a justification for spending millions of taxpayer dollars on a 22 month investigations that effectively.
Although I think Clinton did commit perjury and that his statements were semantic game playing of the highest order, I do not think that he was guilty of any of the original accusations and therefore see his perjury as no more profound than the latest.
Gee, a politician lying about something. Shocking that.
By contrast, outing a CIA operative IS pretty serious. But again, apparently that didn't happen since he is not so charged.
Watch for the plea bargain and relatively minor slap on the wrist with short sentence. Aint no way the guy does 30 years!

The more we dismiss with the trite "they all lie" the more license we give them to do so.
How about we're part of the solution?
I'm GOP tried and true, but if he perjured, even over whether he ever ditched class in the 6th grade - then nail his ass to wall, even if it does help the opposition.
I'm looking hard for the GOP "leader" that will actually lead the charge on this one, and then he/she gets the keys to my house next time there's a campaign funraising letter.
Then she/he can also go after the Bill Clinton's of the world and cut them off at the knees... with authority.
Laugh it off, but there will be one (maybe only), sometime this century, as soon as we start demanding it and stop covering for our own.

OK, lying is part of the job in politics (as many of you know). Perjury? Come on, that's pretty weak. That's Martha Stewart time (6 months). He'll end up working for Halliburton making more than he ever could as Cheney's assistant. He'll make even more on the lecture circuit. Let's be real folks, he got off light.

We can blame it on ourselves because our electorate is vastly uninformed relying on totally misleading 30 second TV commercials rather than actually looking at what their politicans DO in office. If people were educated and actually voted, politicians would feel accountable and you might see the change you and I dream about.
Until then, the rule is say one thing and appear for the photo op and then do whatever you want.

"Let's be real, folks. . ."
Better yet, lets be "ideal" -- stop making lying a sactioned part of the game, and maybe someone besides career politicans will "win" a match now and then.

Hmmmm, who-ever could you be referring to, locally?
OH, I don't know,
but I think his initials are:
A-N-T-O-N-I-O
(And the first responder to say "they all lie" get's digitally bitch-slapped).

So is James Acevedo getting indicted anytime soon?
Anonymous said:
i read the indictment. basically, they trapped him. he said that reporters told him about plame and that plame was discussed in the press, when in fact those reporters either did not say anything or just were fishing for info, which he confirmed (without giving a name).
Seems like scooter had nothing to hide and just got caught by a real good lawyer.
the whole thing is horeshit and the indictment proves it - fucken 22 months to get someone in a lie. wonderful.

The prosecutor will present it this way: finger Rove or do 30 years. The President's men will phrase it this way: do the frog walk, serve a year at Club Fed, get out of jail free via a Presidential pardon.
But if Bush were to resign or otherwise leave office for any reason before pardonning Libby, Scooter is stuck in jail for a long time. So there is some "prisoner's dilemma" pressure on him to finger Rove.
If I were him, I wouldn't take a chance, I'd talk.

Is it me or is this "indictment" and Harriet Myers are just smokescreens to cover up the mis planned and calculated war in Iraq?
I've been called crazy before but I must be insane.

2:04 - you are clearly an idiot. The operative's cover was blown. A news reporter went to jail for weeks for not disclosing her source. Then she testifies where she received the information - all the way back to the VP's office.
Coincidence that the one operative whose cover is blown has a spouse who has been a vocal critic of the administration's war in Iraq?
It's a damn shame when a nation's leaders are outing their own spies! Teasonous!

Why is that Neo Moron Bob Novak not in jail??? He is the fucking idiot that printed her name just to try and slime a Bush critic.
That partison asshole should be serving the rest of his pathetic, spit while talking through his false teeth life in prison for treason.

Vignali got a free out of jail card (PARDON) from Clinton while smuggling 900 kilos of cocaine to little kids.
Hillary Clinton's little bro was his lawyer and paid over 450k to represent him and get this pardon done. Villaraigosa and family of political thugs signed the pretty paper to help.

So did Cardinal Roger Mahoney!
Pacheco supporters, please come up with something new. The election is closing in and you're heading for your third straight loss.
Remember how Nick Pacheco laundered tax payer money through a "community non-profit" back to his campaign?
Remember how Nick's best friend ran one of the most disgusting smear campaigns against his opponent's children and Nick didn't even have the balls to admit the truth that he knew about it?

Fuck Bob Novak. What a cocksucker.

Five Federal felonies? Sounds pretty serious to me.
Did anyone listen to Mr. Fitzgerald's press conference yesterday? I thought he explained it prety well.
It's pretty hard to find out who committed the underlying crime when people lie to FBI agents and the Grand Jury. That's why perjury and obstruction of justice are Federal felonies.

Cleared of all charges. Vignali not cleared just pardoned.
Compare 900 kilos to 5k dollars. No comparison as to who is the criminal and supporters of criminals.

This post is about Libby. Silly AV hater.
Although I'm sure Libby will get a presidential pardon on January 20, 2008. The final hours of Baby Bush's presidency.
I'm willing to bet cash on that AV haters!
