Dumping the Homeless

Much has already been said and written all over the place about the LA County Sheriff drop-off of a homeless person on Skid Row. We all knew the problem has happened in the past. Public perception was that the practice had stopped. These new findings are showing that the problem may still be lurking in the shadows.

At what point do these agencies realize that their actions aren't helping anything. We need to get these people help. If they need the services that can only "be found there," then drop them off directly at the shelter, not around the corner on a dark street.

Give me a break!

For more background, here's the LA Times

Isn't Jan Perry doing the same thing in her district? Isn't there a center in her district and word is she brings in loads of homeless people knowing full well there's not enough room. They then hang out in the neigborhoods. People have been complaining but she does nothing about it.

There are approximately 80,000 homeless individuals and families in LA County. Homeless people tend to "hang out in neighborhoods" because they don't have a fuc*ing place to live.

Lastly, it's not a "Jan Perry" problem. It's a problem that we should ALL address by providing more housing.

I'm not sure why the LAPD is complaining. They've also been doing it for your years! They've also given kids living on the Row tons of jaywalking tickets to scare them away. Unfortunately, these kids have lived there for years because it's the only place they can afford! Of course, LAPD doesn't realize that these tickets turn into warrants when not paid, which then exposes these kids to the juvenile justice system. No wonder that black males represent 1/4 of the system! Shame on the LAPD!

I will be doing an expose on these kids in Skid row soon at http://www.centralcitye.blogspot.com.

I am just gathering the info and interviewing the sources right now.

There are so many prdators here in Central City East who prey on these kids once they turn 18 , I will be speaking with these kids along with their advocates in the series soon at the Downtown Central City East blogger site.

Actually this is a good place to expose these things too.
