An Actual Good Audit

Finally. An audit the praises progress. It has been a while. Today's lucky award goes to El Pueblo.

According to the Times: City Controller Laura Chick said Wednesday that the Los Angeles Department of El Pueblo has largely righted itself from the "financial disaster" it was immersed in last year.

"I think it's a first that I'm calling out the name of the general manager in the cover letter [to an audit] and praising him," Chick said.

From the Daily News: In a stunning turnaround, the agency that runs historic Olvera Street - the birthplace of Los Angeles - has moved from the brink of financial disaster to fiscal stability, City Controller Laura Chick said Wednesday.

Chick, who has issued dozens of critical audits, said the follow-up audit of the Department of El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historic Monument may represent the first time her office has found such significant improvement. The accomplishment is especially noteworthy because, 18 months ago, the department had piles of unpaid bills and "cash in drawers."

They should still replace all those commissioners that allowed this to happen on their watch.

The commissioner had nothing to do with this. The Olera Street Merchants were the culprits here - at the least the well connected ones. Is Laura Chick taking part in a cover up to protect Antonio? How hard is it to correct an agency that only has a $3 million dollar budget? Parke is directing Chick to come out with this to steer attention away from the rent issues- you know, that gift of public funds to campaign donors issue.

Read Chick's previous audit dated April 29, 2004 and you'll see that part of the blame lied with the Commission and its commissioners.

Olvera Street is one of Antonio's fundraising meccas. Thus Parke has everything to do with this, this is were his paycheck comes from. Especially since Delgaldillo went on record that the leases for the merchants, which Antonio was pushing, amounted to a gift of public funds. Add to this Laura Chick who has already shown her true colors regarding Antonio and Parke, and Skeltons finger prints are all over this.

Where the hell do you find dots to connect that 1:08 pm. I think somebody drank a little too much Jose Cuervo last night.

It wasn't Cuervo but Presidente! And there are no dots to connect, just money to follow. It always leaves a trail.
