Open Thread for Sunday

"In the late 19th century Evanston, Illinois, nicknamed "Heavenston" by Frances Willard, was a Methodist-minded town, so pious that the town fathers, resenting the dissipating influence of the soda fountain, passed an ordinance forbidding the sale of ice cream sodas on Sunday. Some ingenious confectioners, obeying the law, served ice cream with syrup but no soda. This sodaless soda was the Sunday soda, and became so popular that orders for "Sundays" crossed the counter everyday of the week. When objection was raised to christening the dish after the Sabbath, the spelling was changed to Sundae, and so developed one of America's most characteristic dishes." -- William Lyon Phelps

Mayor Frank,

Today is Sunday and you should take the day off. You work so hard during the week that you deserve some time off. Enjoy the day with the family or with friends.

All of this shit and nonsende will be there on Monday morning.

Of particular interest is that a neighboring town to the north of Evanston became the haven to the Sunday sundae. A special creamery named Peacock's used to make the handpacked specialty to go...or you could sit along the lakefront and enjoy one of the true sundaes. Ahh....the memories.

CHIEF FAKER, you should ALSO take the day off from telling huge horrendous lies to support your do-nothing buddies like ADV and ADV-lite (Jose, "the Joser," Huizar).

You must need lots of rest after staging 100 CRANK PHONE CALLS to the LAPD to find all those fake neighborhood watch ORGANIZATIONS that Antonio lied about starting in CD14

Right now I have found over 84 neighborhood watches, i need to know how many were in the district before Tony Villar became a Councilmember.

I am finding most of the Neighborhood watches by calling Hollenbeck and Northeast pretending to live in different neighborhoods, it's working. I don't want to call the Villaraistas mainly because i think they will feed me biased info."

CHEAP FAKER, August 2005 "What, me list?"

(P.S. Nice of Faker, however, even after endorsing ADV in the Spring, to admit that his people would "feed me biased info."

Yes, and they STILL do! But don't try and feed it to people with brains, here.

That's definitely a banana split. How about a paleta? Or better yet, a Fudgesicle!

Check out this related news tidbit:

The Star reports that an upcoming episode of Kirstie Alley's Fat Actress will involve a sex scene with a Fudgesicle and Mark Curry. Apparently, Kirstie will put on oversized lingerie and then moan with pleasure as she devours a Fudgesicle, while Mark Curry spanks her and calls her "bootylicious."

How 'bout that, Irishlass?

I never ceased to be amazed the more things change the more they remain the same. At the turn of the century, it was ice cream sodas that were sending us all to Hell. In the 20's, it was the Charleston; in the 40's the jitterbug, of course in the 50's it was the King, Elvis not Don that was the Messenger of Satan. The 60's came mini-skirts and pot; the 80's it was disco (now that truly was from hell); and now it is declarations of love and support between two consenting adults. I wonder how the citizens of 2105 will look at our obsession with gender based marriages. Probably with the same amusement and disdain we view the nonsensical nature of 1900 Evanston piety.

Great intelligent posts today....Mailander...
disputed" in the headline--there can be no "dispute" regarding the fact that he was hit, can there be?

Yes, the fact is Mohammed assaulted police officers and what were they suppose to just take his goons ripping off their name tags?
I found it interesting that Antonio did his own press conf. with John Mack in Little Tokyo and should have been standing with Chief McDonnell in front of 77th. Some people are saying that was the wrong message to send. Remember these are the blacks that endorsed Antonio. He owes them.
Can you imagine if Mohammed really wanted to do something positive and organize to go after the black on black violence in South LA instead of putting the focus on himself? Antonio is playing right into their hands and alienating the other part of the city.

Tom Delay is a lot of things, some of them not so good, but he is anything but a wimp.

His nickname is "The Hammer".

As one who has been hammered, I'm here to tell you that he earned it.

Whoever called him a "wimp" does not know him.

I am going to share with you guys a little of the stragety Huizar needs to win. This comes from the highest pols....GET RID OF THAT INEPT STAFF JOSE.

Huizar needs the best staff available to help him win. No one on his current staff has had the experience needed to win in a tight race.

The Higher up Pols are worried. Don't be surprised if they get "reassigned" to more important things like staying out of the campaign.

JOSE - "DUMP THAT INEPT STAFF"

1) Laura (Ghetto girl) Barrera,
2) Alvin (Time has come and gone) Parra,
3) Monica (No experience) Garcia,
and 4) David (Friend of Albert Robles) Cobb.
