This is the city: Los Angeles, California. I work here. I'm an ex-mayor. Los Angeles is a magnet for people from all over the world. Some of them run for public office. Inevitably some of them stray from the golden rule and rule for those that have the gold. That's when I go to work. My name is Yorty. I'm a dead pol.

I hope there is an LA reporter who has the guts to after this story.
Rumors coming out of South LA is the whole South LA tension, Tony Mohammed arrest was all a set up to get publicity. Some blacks are saying that John Mack, Danny Bakewell (all endorsers of AV) and Antonio were all in on it to give Mohammed the spot light and go after Chief Bratton cause of Antonio's buddy Parks' payback.
LA Times....Joe Hicks, vice president of Community Advocates and a longtime community leader, said the incident comes as Muhammad is attempting to play a larger role in community activism in Los Angeles....Muhammad "is trying to muscle in as a major political figure in L.A.," Hicks said. "The Nation [of Islam] in L.A. has

I haven't seen television stations cover any Mayor as much as our local station did last night.
It was AV talking about an investigation into the supposed beating of Tony Mohammed by LAPD officers and then AV paying tribute to Joseph Ileto, the mail carrier gun downed by Buford Furrow in Chatsworth back in 1999.
I guess Joe and Janelle are able to get the press to cover anything Villaraigosa says. I wouldn't be suprised if AV does a 180 on this one like he did in South LA when LAPD SWAT shot the little girl and her father.
Let's be honest here...the Nation of Islam which sometimes brings up important issues often uses tactics to provoke others to highlight their cause. They will polarize a community to gain power and influence, but that's no different than any other group in any other community...white, black, latino or asian.

Notice that the Pacheco CD 14 Blogging Team does not post to open threads; it is not fun unless you interrupt others trying to have a dialog.
Give them their weekend rest, and don't make any posts that favor AV or his friends.

I just love this City.
As a employee fo this fine burg; most people would have to pay for this entertainment. I get a front row seat everyday to some of the most bizarre and head shaking behavior. Just when you think you've seen it all, there's another morning and a WTF.
Anon 0735 hrs said "Tony M. arrest was a set up..." DUH! Tony M.'s 15-minutes of fame is running right now. He needs to nail down his angry blackman routine and claim police brutality, ask for an investigation and throw in the "No Justice, No Peace" mantra at a staged rally in front of Parker Center. He better do it quick because this town forgets quickly.
Oh by the way, this isn't about Tony M, Danny Bakewell, or AV - it's about black-on-black violence where someone was murdered. The person had his brains blown out of his skull. The Paramedics had the decency to covered him to spare the family and community that ghastly sight. What most people don't know is a body's muscles will contract and relax even when that person is dead or they are in the last stages of dying.
Tony M. and the NOI "outrage" is all staged and misplace. What they should be doing is working to get the kids back in school, make parents responsible if they insist on popping out these babies and make the fathers support these families. That's a start - but its easier to play the race card, blame the City, and cry for justice.
Lame but true.

The weird thing about the Mohammed story was the way the Times framed it, calling it "disputed" in the headline--there can be no "dispute" regarding the fact that he was hit, can there be?
As for the Pacheco, we noted Regardie's new analysis in the Downtown News of the City Hall CW on the race. No mention of 80 watches, though.
I'm surprised (and sure, pleased) that Regardie's writing so much at the Downtown News about CD Catorce. The CD runs a pierlike-stub through the south of downtown, and doesn't include much prime real estate.

How dare someone interrupt an open thread with a legitimate topic like tension on South L.A.
This is where people are supposed to CONTINUE to demand that the lying moderator-ette Chief Faker keep his repreated promise to PROVE Villaraigosa earned even a SMALL portion of his $300K salary from 2003-2005, by producing his own "independently researched" list of 100+ (fake) neighborhood watch ORGANIZATIONS organized during the Villaraigosa error as CM.
You may be AV's top boy on this blog, but you AIN'T AV. Not enough "charisma" to consistently lie to people and be held accountable for it.
Produce the list or LEAVE this list! You serve no purpose once everyone who reads here knows you lie HUGE for your partisan interests.
(Maybe uou can re-emerge at "Chief Davis" sometime later, start fresh!)
(NOTE: Not posted by a member of "Team Pacheco," no matter how you spell it and anyone who says I am is a bigger liar than Chief Faker).

Yes, the fact is Mohammed assaulted police officers and what were they suppose to just take his goons ripping off their name tags?
I found it interesting that Antonio did his own press conf. with John Mack in Little Tokyo and should have been standing with Chief McDonnell in front of 77th. Some people are saying that was the wrong message to send. Remember these are the blacks that endorsed Antonio. He owes them.
Can you imagine if Mohammed really wanted to do something positive and organize to go after the black on black violence in South LA instead of putting the focus on himself? Antonio is playing right into their hands and alienating the other part of the city.

Mr. 11:48, Bakewell himself said the attack was "unprovoked." He says:
"The attack was unprovoked. He was wrestled to the ground, pepper-sprayed in his face, and once he was on the ground he was kicked brutally and punched in the mouth."
The LAPD are on the record otherwise. Another thing that The Times didn't say was whether or not Bakewell himself was a witness, but I presume he was not. The Times does quote a witness and that witness jibes more with Bakewell's version than with the police account. Given that not just two witnesses but spokespeople for two organizations are claiming very different things, there's no question that launching a full investigation into the incident is the right move.

What was Jan Perry doing out of her district making statements in support of Tony Mohammed in District 8 when she represents District 9? She sounded like Mohammed's publicist instead of a city council person. How many politicans does this Nation of Islam person have in his pocket??

How do these dumb posts get to put these lame websites on?
Jan Perry must really be feeling like an idiot after this evening news. LAPD release the radio calls and you could hear Tony Mohammed being deviant to police officers and basically choosing them on. "Make me, Make me."
Pacheco and Huizar people can't really be either extremely selfish or ignornant to other big issues in this city besides the CD 14 race. C'mon show some intelligence.

Hacopian Update.
I just heard the latest info on the Hacopian payoff for stabbing Nick Pacheco in the back. He was promised either a gig in AV's administartion, of if Jose wins to be hired as Huizar's Chief of Staff.

Whats the scoop on Cedillo and AV? Are they best buddies again? I went to both CD 14 debates no mention from NP or JH on an endorsement from GD? What gives? Any thoughts?
PhilKrakover said:
Cedillo has no sense.
After Antonio virutally gave him the former Polanco Senate seat, he repaid Antonio by endorsing and campaigning for Jimmy Hahn.
Gil Cedillo cannnot remember who his friends are; he is arrogant and rude, just like Nick Pacheco was when he was on the Council.
When will these guys learn that "If you want to have a friend, you need to BE a friend"?

Where is the leadership in this city? Funny people are saying we don't have any. With the incident on Tony Mohammed our mayor is looking WEAK. He's siding with a terrorist instead of supporting the officers.
LA Times...Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa told reporters that it was important for communities to stay calm...He said he met Friday with Muhammad, with whom the mayor said he had had ties for five years.

Phil Krackpot doesn't know something? Unbelievable! Hey, Krackpot, next time you run into Gil ask him what Antonio did to him that made him turn against our mayor.
