It has been confirmed. One of Villaraigosa's inner circle is a blogger on Mayor Sam. I am trying to find who it is. I will find out eventually.

Cardenas sent Rocky a letter stating that one of Antonio's nominee's to the Airport Commission has a conflict of interest. Valeria CVelasco is heading an organization that is suing the city of LA over LAX expansion plan.

Now either Antonio is really dumb not to have known this or he is as arrogant as we all know him to be. Pretty dumb move in any case.

Noel,

Didn't MAV during the campaign make a promise to continue to have the majority of Harbor Commissioners come from the Harbor Area? Where's the Neighborhood Activist? Four years ago it was a steady demand of yours that their would be local representation on The Harbor Commission?

Has your candidate already broken a promise and/or have you gone back on yet another one of your "principles"?

Was the problem that anyone who lived in the area and had the qualifications and interest just couldn't afford to be held hostage to your constant whining and putdowns if they strayed from your "commandments of the day"?

Didn't Antonio also say that Neighborhood Councils would have input into these appointments? They haven't and that has many citywide very upset.

8:01 Villaraigosa IS Mayor Sam (with spell check and editing from Ace). Don't you find it odd that:

1-this blog started up when AV got in the race
2-the blog has always been pro AV
3-Mayor Sam tries to pretend to be conservative but we know he is liberal

Port pollution worsened under the recent local representation on the Harbor Commission so maybe these new appointments will do better in that regard. And I don't mind "whining" if it improves the quality of the air.

He didn't promise me any such thing. I have said 100 times that I don't care where they come from as long as they do the right thing. If they don't, they get to listen to me whine, poor things.

The comments of the Friends of the Port (FOP) on this blog make it pretty clear that you can find plenty of people in any community who will sell out their community to advance their personal interests. So having a quota of people from the "community" isn't really very efffective.

Here's someone pretty pissed off at Noel (in another MayorSam story) and Noel won't answer his questions.

John Gibson said...
Mayor Sam,

Could you ask Noel a couple of questions for me? It might "clear a little air" for those of us now "living outside" San Pedro.

1. What brought you to SP back in '65? I seem to recall you working hard to build the Port up while I was around. How long did you work to help bring smoggy ships down there? Ever work on freeways or other traffic producing structures? How long were you invested in those companies? Are you still? How much of the "blood money" you earned in those days have you given to all the "victims" you care so much about today, oh you of perfect ethics?

2. I believe you now own and operate J&D Corvette which specializes in classic cars. Nothing screams ardent environmentalist and safety advocate like helping to keep screaming fiberglass death machines that belch inordinate smog on the streets. Does that money you earn go to cancer and asthma victims or to you? Again, it would seem to me that such a vigilant air quality advocate would have at least divested themselves of such an enterprise or at least, as the previous anon said, "shut up" a long time ago. Is that the reason you go to so many meetings? Because you can't sleep at night? Or is it because helps keep you delusional?

3. Mayor Sam, could you please ask Noel about what he he did on other important issues in the Harbor Area; the lack of Sports Park Facilities in the poorest parts of San Pedro, the possible removal of memorials to maritime veterans and maritime workers, and community support for organized workers of the ILWU and UFCW during their recent lockouts? I believe the record as I heard it is that Mr. Park fought vigirously against the idea of making more "active" parks a priority and often berated their activists in public forums. I also heard that Noel berated supporters of the Monuments as outdated and ignorant in the local newspapers. Finally, I believe Mr. Park took the "brave" stand to vote against an NC motion to support the retail clerks during their long, painful lockout (he lost 14-2) while the ILWU members donated almost a million dollars to the cause. Is Noel more interested in fighting the Port or supporting his community? Or, more to the point, is Noel more interested in staying in the newspaper than improving the air quality of the community?

4. Could you really ask Noel what he is specifically for in the Port? The Port, Mayor Hahn, and Councilmember Hahn have literally spent millions of dollars trying to make Noel happy over the last four years to seemingly no avail. Out of town tours, paid consultants attending literally hundreds of meetings, establishing a PCAC with dozen of members and several subcommittees that have catered meals, committee appoitments, personal meetings and public praise in local newspapers. His thanks? A thousand dollar check to AV. And what of all this time and effort? A 693 page report, a small strip of a walkway, and a demand for more studies before any further actual groundbreaking occurs. What of the thousands of people suffering today who could use immediate tangible improvements? Tell them to wait for Noel and his buddies to come up with some new and untested technology to be forcefully implemented on a broad basis throughout the port at tremendous expense. Just because Port money isn't just your money doesn't make it fodder to for you and your pals to play with. It's been years now. Can we continue with Bridge to Breakwater construction? How about testing your theories for actual cost and effectiveness or do we wait until these methods are law? Quit pontificating and tell us when you're ready to step up to the plate and actually state your support for something specific, not another study.

5. Here's something that Noel has advocated for. Mayor Sam, could you please ask Noel how building a park at the end of a freeway mitigates air pollution? Mr. Park may finally get his wish that many cancer and asthma sufferers and their families can frolic at the end of the Harbor Freeway as cars careen by trying to beat that red light. This is HIS milestone for our community. Getting the Port and the State Lands Commission to negotiate a way around the law and use Port funds designated to help mitigate air pollution on building a park on one of the busiest intersections in town. Dare I suggest a name for a PARK of such distinction?

6. Wait, could you ask Noel what his position was again? If I followed it right he was against sports parks because of the need for redevelopment, then he pushed for the PCAC so that the Port and CRA could work together on redevelopment, then when he was turned down he sued to get the PCAC established and his park on the freeway, then when the Port and CRA started to make a redevelopment area he came out opposed because of the need for more "passive" parks that kids would not be able to play sports on. Am I up to date now? Wait. What's his position on redeveloping sports parks and...... oh just forget I asked. Sometimes he dances so fast even when he talks so long.

7. Finally, please ask the media that looks over this site periodically why they haven't looked into Mr. Parks' history and/or credibility before they made him the official spokesperson for the town? Is it because it saves them the trip from driving down here? Is it because they prefer to work with hypocrites? ( I bet that keeps them in training) Is it because they don't want the constant letters to the editor? Or is it because, like many other San Pedro denizens, they don't want to be continually bad-mouthed at the dozens of monthly meetings the community has at the insistence of Noel and his buddies. If it is the latter, believe me, I understand and I hold no fault. Hundreds have already come to the same conclusion and, undoubtedly, hundreds more will fall before these backyard bullies are done feeding at the advocate/consultant trough. At least he keeps making my era looking better and better!

P.S. Since Park et al backed MAV in an area that was 72% for Hahn, what's the smart play for MAV? Prop up an angry NIMBY who speaks for an angry minority or reach out to an otherwise united community looking for real progress? You're a Mayor, speak up! Ican't hear that well from up here.

Hey Noel,

Try this for your memory.

Daily Breeze - April 18, 2005

" As he lays out his policy goals, Villaraigosa has sought to reassure Harbor Area civic leaders that he will place his own emphasis on community needs and the environment.

Villaraigosa agreed to put three residents of the Harbor Area on the harbor commission, a practice started by Hahn four years ago."

I guess your "reputation" for being thorough before you open your trap is being dragged through the mud again. Keep spinning. Keep spinning. Or should I say "Vroooom, Vroooom!?"

When are you going to answer any questions about sports parks, freeway parks, maritime memorials, grocery store clerks and how your opinions on these matters and more truly reflect the majority of the community?

That's right, maybe you now recognize that the majority of the community have a more balanced opinion about the port and faith in their ongoing efforts. If that's the case then "SCREW THE MAJORITY!" right?

Then maybe you do want to "take control" of public input by promoting a myriad of monthly "public" meetings that the average citizen can not even begin to keep track of. That way you and your cadre can control the ebb and flo of "public opinion" in the Harbor Community "for our own good."

Things are now coming full circle. Noel Park, local activist, gets involved in "opening up" port decision making so that area residents who are the most directly affected can participate. Noel Park comes to the realization that area residents do want cleaner air and are encouraged by the efforts of the Mayor, the local Council Representative, and Port Reps....not ecstatic, but encouraged. Noel Park grows frustrated and decides that Residents don't know what progress is, and demands more change. Area residents, if any, that agree with Noel Park are to be more "representative" than the other "stupid retards." Noel Park has spoken! It's like Animal Farm, right Noel?

You even get to make money off of the problem by making a business of protecting gas guzzling, smog belching fiberglass death machines! And Janet gets to drive a Deisel Benz! Oh thank you oh wise ones for showing the error of our ways. How foolish for us to challenge your wisdom and speak independently. Your right, if we speak differently we must work for the port or be making money off of the sins of the economy. Nothing positive ever comes out of the Port (why did you come here again?)

Please Noel, share more wisdom, so we know how to speak in the future. And your right, MAV never made that promise, the Daily Breeze is lying, as I was, oh wise one. You will be the keeper of the truth. The Port will answer to you for our benefit.

Can I go home peacefully tonight without Janet trying to "run me down" in person or at tonight's meeting?

Let’s see Janice is disappointed that the Mayor only appointed one local person to the Board of Harbor Commissioners. Her brother appointed three locals to the Board which proceeded to lead the Port into four years filled with controversy and little accomplishment. Maybe Mayor Villaraigosa is a bit brighter than Janice’s brother. It is clear from his actions and words that he will be more engaged with the City than Jimmy. He will prove much better leadership for the Port, bring order to a department wreaked by the last four years of chaos and get something done for industry, the downtown, and the community, especially Wilmington. While Janice is disappointed, there are those in the community are happy to have the change.

Let's see, the Mayor makes a "promise" during his campaign to appoint local residents and then when elected appoints only one resident whose residency is now being questioned.

Noel Park(e), the aforementioned ranting hypocrite, I mean neighborhood activist, initiated in part the request to appoint more local residents four years ago. Additionally, he has constantly been disappointed in politicians and the port for "broken promises."

Now, after a thousand dollar investment, Parke no longer cares about local representation because, as he describes it, they are "stupid losers." Now, Parke doesn't keep track of politicians' promises, because dammit their's money and influence on the line.

How's that Tosco investment going for you Noel? I bet your making money "by the barrel!" Tell us more about clean air and how campaign contributors are taking away "the power of the people.
