Vacation Hot Sheet

BREAKING: City Council quorum was lost today when Mike Hunt: African American Klansman and jackass-at-large refused to remove his white sheet during public comment. Unfortunate that Mr. Hunt appears to have gotten exactly what he wanted with his stupid behavior. He's apparently done this before.
--------------------------------------------

Mayor Sam is on vacation, leaving us burros alone to play with the toy while he's gone.

Yesterday the City Council approved allowing a section of Van Nuys to become part of Sherman Oaks with only Huizar and Cardenas opposing the motion. LAist blogger Steven Rosenberg, now finding himself a resident of Sherman Oaks, doesn't feel too positive about the controversial switch.

LA County Supervisor Antonovich wants the Los Angeles Opera to discontinue the Ring Festival L.A. planned for next year. Antonovich wants Wagner's pieces replaced, calling Richard Wagner a “Nazi composer.” That the Third Reich usurped a great deal of Wagner's Norse mythology and symbolism for their own propaganda is not in question. The question is whether the adoption of someone's work by an entity should permanently taint or label the work. Wagner himself was hardly a Nazi by definition, having died in 1883.

City planning commissioners are stumping for a renewal of their influential and manipulative positions today in council. How many of them are relatives of councilmembers, high profile developers, union leaders? These guys just passed major new electronic billboards for the Convention Center during the City's moratorium on new billboards, ticking off the new City Attorney. Do you think they should be reappointed?

Judging by the number of people berating the City Council for paying for the Michael Jackson event, the public is still pissed off at the Mayor for his perceived arrogance regarding who should pay for the City's huge public safety response. Who do you think should pay for it? The Los Angeles Business Journal is taking a poll.

Cindy Miscikowski returns to the City loony bin with her appointment to the Harbor Commission. Good? Bad? Deja vu?

Nominations are open for the "Bloggin 5150 Troll" award. Your pick?

Do we think the CRA commissioners should be reappointed because they angered the city attorney? He's an a-hole and proved it once again, Miss Kool-Aid sucking PetraFried.

When Rosendahl raised this issue in council today they pointed out they were volunteers, that Trutanich had given them no compelling reason to postpone whereas they were under some deadline expiring in 2 days, and that as volunteers with no staff OR salary or lawyers to defend themselves or perks, unlike his huge salary and perks and THOUSANDS of attorneys and staff, his last paragraph especially threatening them was out of line.

Even bald idiot Zine backed off -- Trutanich made an ass of himself yet again for PR and soundbites.

Even Ron Kaye and Doug agreed this morning that his "grandstanding" on the Jackson issue and blasting the CRA like this was disappointing at best, while the Daily News rightly criticized him today for not keeping his campaign pledge to ignore the lawsuit about letting the Controller audit any office incl his at her discretion.

"Inviting" her in is NOT the point -- it's one thing to do that now when it's Rocky's mess still there, but the DN and even these two other Kool-Aid drinkers admit it's about the principle. What about a year or two or three down the line, after he's spending money and raising flags?

Yeah sure, let's randomly fire anyone Nooch gets pissed off at because he's out of line, great. Frankly he's showing he's in it for the PR and partisan vendetta, and Petra's showing what a dense, propaganda farce this is for the Nooch. (With Higby doubling as his PR shill "Foxy Lady" some say.)

Trutanich has enough P R hacks still out there, including his manager John Thomas and "head of ethics and corruption" David Berger STILL trashing Weiss to James all the time, worried he'll turn up soon and vowing to prevent it. What an unprofessional, partisan, vengeful bunch of hacks.

Huizar and Cardenas voted against the "Sherman Oaks" shift because they bought into the opposition's characterization that the move was racially motivated, because one of the "SO" designation supporters had used the term "complexion" in reference to the matchup -- and most likely there was some underlying racism, in the mind of at least one promoter.

But then, if you opposed everything that came before City Council because one side or the other had someone intolerant in their ranks, you could pretty much be assured that City Council would ned up tabling EVERY action before it.

(Yeah, but now I'm thinking. . . is that necessarily a BAD thing -- City Council never taking any action?)

Maybe that would actually be a "stimulus" program in and of itself.

Okay, truth be told, the dude behind the "Parque" viking mask posts anoymously here perhaps more often than in this guise.

And, I've been called, among many other things, both a mayoral staffer and a CD14 staffer (the latter being the future former) -- by those who don't understand sarcasm and innuendo -- and a "hater" -- by some rabid girly types who "FEEL" everything, and "think" seldom.

SO, maybe consider this confession a self-nomination for "Bloggin 5150 Troll"?

Which raises the age-old psychology question/Catch 22, if you KNOW you're 5150, doesn't that actually prove you're not?

Glad Celeste Fremon thinks the way I do and says so on blog,
.....I DO have a slight problem with Summer Night Lights being painted as the main reason for a drop in crime in those target areas during those months since I suspect that has more to do with the fact that the 14 areas are flooded with cops during the SNL hours

What a bunch of idiots. Did Zine overstep his bounds? The hood was offensive but since when does Zine think he's making up law as he goes along? Oh yeah since always. At least his paparazzi law went nowhere before it could cost all kinds of lawsuits.

09-1562 Perry-Alarcon

MOTION
The Department of Transportation is currently in the process of replacing traffic signal
light bulbs with LED lights at over 4,000 intersections on a phased decommission schedule in
order to avoid random equipment failure. Many of these traffic signal light bulbs are still in
operating condition but all are currently being discarded in landfills. A reuse opportunity for the decommissioned traffic signal light bulbs was identified in Tijuana, Mexico via the Califomia-
Mexico liaison at the California Integrated Waste Management Board in Sacramento.

The Office of Council District Nine (9) has received a request to donate six hundred
decommissioned traffic signal light bulbs to the City of Tijuana, Mexico. The City has recently declared six hundred traffic signal light bulbs surplus items that could fulfill this request.

On November 28,2006 (C.F. 04-1822), the Council adopted amendments to the Los
Angeles Administrative Code (LAAC) Sec. 22.547 (Donation of Surplus City Equipment), including a provision to enable the sale of surplus equipment at less than current market value to
any individual, organization or government if discarding/recycling/transporting such equipment is more costly than the potential loss of resale revenue from a market value sale. An example of such equipment is e-waste. Therefore, the City of Tijuana, is eligible for this below market value
sale of surplus equipment, and there are no other unfilled requests at this time for this type of equipment.

I THEREFORE MOVE that the City Council:

1. Find that the City of Tijuana, Mexico is eligible to purchase six hundred decommissioned
traffic signal light bulbs at below market value ($1.00) in accordance with LAAC Sec.
22.547 (Donation of Surplus City Equipment), as amended by the Council on November 28, 2006 (C.F. 04-1822), inasmuch as discarding/recycling/transporting the surplus equipment produces a net financial cost to the City which can be documented.

2. Request the City Attorney to expedite preparation of the appropriate documents to
effectuate the sale and transfer of the above identified surplus equipment at below market
value to the City of Tijuana, Mexico.

3. Instruct the City Clerk to inform the City of Tijuana, Mexico [William Yu Cong, Director
of the International Affairs Department, 401 B. Street, Suite 800, San Diego, CA 92101,
(619) 699-1996] that the surplus traffic signal light bulbs must be claimed within 60 days
from the date of Council approval of the request, at which time it will revert to the City's
surplus equipment pool for disposal by the Department of General Services.

Smith is totally wrong to tell LAPD they have to keep letting retired members wear LAPD-look alike uniforms for movie shoots.

Those guys are not part of the LAPD chain of command, which is taken very seriously as it should be.

If anything went wrong, it would be the LAPD's and city's image at stake and potentially liable for allowing the mistaken identity.

Smith says there have been no complaints but that's not true - lots of people complain about the lack of professionalism but maybe haven't filed lawsuits for injury. There are intangible costs to loss of image when you see a bunch of saggy old guys sitting around in LAPD uniforms, even if they're nice and friendly.

This does not hurt the film industry - they're being hurt by a lack of tax incentives and perks that other states have. No one stays or leaves because of the uniform.

All LAPD and the Chief said is they want a uniform distinguished from LAPD, they're not interfering in who is hired or anything else.

If they don't want security guard uniforms, they can make one up.

Then there was the issue of LAX police, should LAPD be stationed there. That's a closer call but Koretz was uninformed when he said it was a duplication of efforts: from what I've read the 15 or so anti-terror LAPD cops stationed there have had specialized training and are answerable to the LAPD chain of command. There is often MORE duplication of effort and cost to have 2 separate agencies or depts. than one, especially when it comes to issues of who's responsible in case of a problem or crisis. The fact that two separate agencies have to co-ordinate preparations for example would seem to be a duplication of efforts and costs.

The argument of Koretz etc. seems to fly against advice on saving money in the city by consolidating depts. and chains of command.

(That duplication and waste is even truer at County level where it was recently reported that two heads of similar depts. didn't even know the other one existed! Why did the media stop posting reporters to monitor the Supes? They say they can't afford it anymore but then they need an independent Controller responsible to us like the city has -- the County Controller is hired and fired by the Supervisors which is absurd.)

1. Protecting someone’s constitutional right, freedom of speech, or

2. While exercising the freedom of speech that person’s costume offends some of America’s highest paid politicos.

Tuesday, July 14 Mr. Hunt appeared before the Los Angeles Police Commission. Mr. Hunt, with the same costume worn at chambers, spoke during public comment and none of the commissioners appeared to be offended or interrupted Mr. Hunt, possibly because they are attorney’s and understand the U.S. Constitution.

The STNC has absolutely no control on billboards going up in Sunland-Tujunga. Remember, they only have advisory powers to the City of Los Angeles. I also think calling them complicit and traitors demonstrates how little you understand about the NC system and City Gov't at large.
I suggest you take your complaint up with the City Attorney if you feel a billboard is going up illegally.

July 15, 2009 6:21 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said:

All new billboards require a permit and are a project. All projects must be presented to the Neighborhood Councils. STNC knows that these billboards are being illicitly installed.

Have you ever tried to present something to the City Attorney. You must first go through the Neighborhood Prosecutor.

Your request stops there, QED.

5150 Troll award goes to 11:14AM, the coolaide drinking Weiss supporter, for persistence, least original personal attacks, and basically re-hashing the same old boring, no traction accusations against Trutanich and Zine.

Jack Weiss's downfall should be celebrated as an annual public holiday in Los Angeles, much like the French celebrate Bastille Day. The dismal, roundly hated Weiss was quite literally thrown out office to the silent cheer of everyone in City Hall. Even Delgadillo got the grudging "attaboy" from the council, but nobody, I repeat, nobody gave a damn about Weiss's last day in office.

The little shit sneeked out of city hall and back to his hillside mansion without a letting the door hit him in the ass. The picture of Weiss fighting back the tears on election night in the street outside his "victory" party is priceless (see Berger's website) and the Jack Weiss Downfall video on You Tube is frankly the sweetest revenge that CD5 constituents could have asked for.

So 11:14AM, aka Ace Smith or Jacobsen or whoever you are (maybe the nut who said he votes in every election but did not vote for either Trutanich or Weisshole?), you really need this award because you don't get it do you? You lost. You lost, and y the way, did I say you lost?

Don't like losing? Here's the answer for you. Embrace a real candidate instead of trying to fool voters, democrats and republicans with phony lying sacks of shit. If the democrat party had any guts at all, they would have run a real candidate. Instead they pick that snothole Weiss because he terrorized them into supporting him.

Where are you now Jackass? How many of the fat cats who threw money at you are returning your calls now? Not happening for you is it? You are gone but not forgotten, and if you think you'll sneak your lying ass into LAX, it will be the straw that breaks the Mayor's back (heard from him recently?)

One thought for Jack - give AEG a call, maybe they'll hire you as a 'consultant' on billboards. I hear they're not getting very far with their plans for their latest digital monster billboard at Staples Center, and AEG did support your failed bid to be city attorney.
