If You Love Mayor Sam's Blog, And You Drive In The Morning . . .

. . . then you MUST set your radio to 790 AM, and listen to "McIntyre in the Morning."

Doug McIntyre and Rob Marinko are the only ones in local media who consistently report on the antics at City Hall. More importantly, they are hilarious. (My new favorite is the impersonation of Arnold equating our state with Sparta and Athens.)

They have reported, commented and taken calls on, among other things: the proposed gang tax, dog food guy, Bitter Bernie, Rocky's proposed dress code, illegal aliens in gangs, the Mayor's road trips, the Mayor's school "expertise" -- everything.

This is NOT a paid announcement, and yes, I'm grateful that they covered my campaign. But the fact they covered my campaign shows you how committed to covering local politics they are. And the fact they supported me over Villaraigosa tells you how smart they are.

If you don't already listen, give it a try. They're on 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. But I must warn you: once you get used to their show, you can't listen to other talk radio shows, because those are shows are pathetic by contrast, the proverbial sound and fury signifying nothing.

I thought John & Ken KFI were hilarious last night on the tax issue but Doug McIntyre was even better blasting clowncil. No way will this tax thing fly. Too many people already against it.

Someone give the Great David Z an award. Incredible stories in this weeks issue of laweeky.com. He writes a great story about the End of Homicides and Goodbye LA Gangs.

A MUST READ...The Z Files
Goodbye, L.A. Gangs:
If that smart Connie Rice is right, we just need to change society and spend $1 billion

......To save a little time, let’s sum up the report’s findings in a couple of sentences: Los Angeles needs a gang czar, a gang department, a gang task force, a gang deputy mayor, a gang think tank and a comprehensive gang initiative

It is a shame that the LA Weekly is doing far better journalism on city issues than LA ANTONIA TIMES. God bless David Z.

Bitter Bernie can't speak to his constituents but he sure is speaking to the media. He was quoted in the papers last week against giving police officers overtime. Does any reporter know what's going on here?

Understand that Zanhiser is writing opinion wrapped around facts. It's good, but it wouldn't be tolerated on the news pages of the DN or LAT. More to the point, McIntyre this morning says he's reading an AP story that the mayor, in an answer to a question in Washington, criticized the roundup of 700-something WANTED illegal aliens. Why isn't that in either newspaper?

The fact that "Borg" McIntyre (All Assimilationist Radio) gave Wacko Walter's over-hyped and underwhelming mayoral campaign more attention than all other media in the city combined -- at a time when even Mayor Sam's had Wacko listed under the "gadfly" column right next to Hal "KKK" Netkin -- is proof positive they are more out of touch with the reality of L.A. life and politics than even their 3rd-rated talk radio status would imply.

Buy books-on-CD, instead. Listening to angry white males who miss the "good old days," every day is bad for your blood pressure, and the few minor yucks aren't worth the risk. (McIntyre is an former comedy writer for 6-week-wonder sitcoms, the names of which even the actors who starred in them can't remember. But if you ever watched Gilligan's Island, or Hogan's Heroes as a kid, you've heard all the gags twice before, anyway)

But he was able to do that at the Daily Breeze too! Nobody noticed, though.

How about doing an expose on LAFD deputy "chief" Andy Fox.

What a story!!!

joseph, it was far less blatant at the breeze. his strength is that he mistrusts everybody, so he doesn't pimp for sources like the reporters for the DN and LAT. The best example is the coverage of Laura Chick, who, according to the major papers, is flawless -- even if one of her own investigators allegeds she helps political friends. Unfortunately, those stories only appeared in the LAWeekly and the DN and LAT ignored them.

10:25am Say what you want you clowncil staffer but everyone is listening now. What about John & Ken KFI drive time? A hell of a lot of people listening. Who wants to hear white males yell? All of us want to hear the truth of what those moron clowncil members are doing with their stupid motions. Yeah no one listens to them that's why they had such an outrage on Tienne Pearce there was a huge backlash. They're not going away.

Kevin James on 790 KABC 1a-5a is fantastic, too. He's able to go a lot further and deeper into mayor and city council problems due to the time slot. and he is hilarious, too. it would be worth taping if you are sleeping. ZD is going to post segments from his show here soon for those who miss his show.

Yeah, Kevin James is good (even though I believe he's from Texas). Al Rantel kicks ass too, along with Doug M. and J & K. Thankfully we have these voices of reason to at least partially counter and raise awareness of the asinine, failed liberal policies that spew from the clowncil. Too bad though that LA is still going down the toilet.

I love Doug and Kevin!!!!

Thanks to the horrendous gridlock and rush hour traffic, we all have lots of time to listen to these wonderful talk shows!!!! I don't mind the traffic at all anymore!!

Doug should run for Mayor! He would win by a landslide!!!!

Kevin is the greatest because he spends hours getting the truth out on Mecha Guy. I learn something every nite!!!

In case you haven't heard, Villagrossa is trying to put talk radio out of business. He is running scared!!! He know they will drive him into the dirt just like they did with Gray Davis.

Doug and Kevin....I LOVE YOU!

Midget mayor should be scared because I never use to listen to any of these guys til the Pearce case. Now there's a lot of us they gained as new listeners. John & Ken were making fun of Antonio's new plan to end poverty. I can't believe they can say 1/2 the stuff and get away with it. If I was clowncil I would wear bags over my head after these guys are finished.

David Z is the BOMB!!!!!! No other reporters have his balls to tell the truth whoever it is. LA Slimes protects Villaraigosa and council. Why wasn't there a story about them canceling last week? Daily News is way better just read today's Opinion on Clowncil. CLASSIC!!! But LA Weekly reported the corruption with LA Bridges. Bitter Bernie was sued by Capt. for retaliation and they won. Bernie to show his jealousy towards Bratton like a girl voluntarily filed a declaration on another lawsuit against the city. Nice move Bitter. You proved what an asshole you are!!!

"everyone is listening now"

Are you serious? (No!)

There's a reason that most of the ads on these radio stations are for baldness remedies, faux viagra, and expensive car dealers.

This is mid-life crisis, fear-mongering radio. Watch the lips of the people as they drive by, Gilbert. "Everyone" is SINGING and RAPPING along with music, not nodding their heads in agreement with the always angry sagging chest beaters.

If your "everyone" is listening to rant and race-bait radio, then I hope all three of you are joyously happy, and well stocked with the little blue pill.

3:20pm is praying that no one is listening because then they'll hear the truth about his boss. You figure on one thread Zuma got over 200 hits. That doesn't include people who I know come to read what's being said, plus reporters. So go to la la land and pretend these AM shows don't have that many listeners. WHY then would Antonio veto the Tienne Pearce lawsuit and then clowncil as well? Cause the KFI blasted the hell out of them and listerns, 1,000's told them to. But hey, no ones listening

A few things about talkradio in LA.

McIntyre's show is not just a bunch of old white guys complaining. Everyday there are black, hispanic and female callers calling in pissed about illegal immigration, Villaraigosa, taxes, etc.

Next check the arbitron ratings. KFI and KABC are both in the top 15 of stations (there are about 90 in the LA Market). Well ahead of some of the most popular music stations (top 40 and hip-hop/urban/R&B etc.) and many of the popular Spanish language stations.

Depending on the hour, the Mr. KABC show is either #1 or #2 in the entire market. Most of the KFI and KABC shows beat shows on some of the top stations.

Boy you can spin, MS, Mr. KABC??

One of the most token liberal talkers on hate radio is your poster boy for this example?

And when it he on "radio?" When most of the people in the city who've discovered this thing called "Tell-i-vision" during way-way-way off-peak hours.

That's a bit like saying you're kid's the smallest kid in the "special" class.

Sure he's TOPS among cab drivers heading in from the airport.

You must be in marketing, or some such profession, where facts are simply inconvenient, and imprecise terms like "most beat shows" on "some of the top" are sprinkled around to make people thing maybe you have a clue.

Plus half of the "90" stations are little more than warm lightbulbs that barely get their signal across the street.

There's a reason why some of the same 20 wackos get through to these talkers every other day, without much trouble,
and it's because not that many people are really paying attention, or calling in. It's mostly background noise to people trying to figure Even the "listeners" aren't really listening.
