Last week, President Obama announced a historic, comprehensive plan to reduce gun violence in America.

I applaud this effort, because gun violence is an epidemic that requires immediate action.

Please join me - stand with Mayors Against Illegal Guns and demand that Congress pass common-sense gun laws to keep dangerous weapons from falling into the wrong hands.

I support the President's call for universal background checks on all gun buyers, banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, and adding mental health resources for schools and police officers to our streets. These are common-sense reforms that we must enact immediately so our neighborhoods and children are safe.

Join me in supporting President Obama - sign my petition urging Congress to take action right now.

As a passionate and active member of Women Against Gun Violence since it was founded in 1993, I've fought to end tolerance of gun violence. I am proud to support Mayors Against Illegal Guns and to have worked with leaders across Los Angeles to license ammunition vendors and outlaw gun compartments in cars.

We have a lot of work left to do. Every day we wait means more Angelenos and Americans who fall victim to gun violence. Join me in urging Congress to take action now by signing my petition.
