How Low Can Wendy Go? Well...
Our friend Joseph Mailander, writing at CityWatch, asked just that question on Friday. It seems that the response from Mayoral candidate Wendy Greuel to a newspaper investigation into significant irregularities with her official versus campaign schedule and possible ethics law violations was to slime the author behind the piece, investigative reporter Randy Economy, and note that Economy had a drug addiction problem in his past.
Despite the fact that Economy has been sober for several years and has been active in Catholic Church programs to assist other addicts to get clean.
Okay, so that was one thing, but just as Mailander asked the question, we got the answer.
Wendy is now using the matter of a young boy with a terminal illness as grist for her campaign mill.
The email below was received Friday afternoon at MayorSam headquarters. It's a noble cause to call for blood and bone marrow donors to benefit not only the young boy in question, but potentially others. Normally, an outreach effort like this by a public official would be laudable.
In this instance, Greuel sent the news out as part of a campaign e-mail blast that also solicits both campaign donations and endorsements for Greuel's campaign for Mayor.
It is certain, that there are those of you, who will hit this blog, and others, for being critical of Greuel in this respect. We simply ask you be intellectually honest and consider the context. If you still need to bloviate after that, we might grant you that right.
There are several other choices for Mayor in this cycle. For sure, each of them brings some baggage to the table. None however appear to have become more of a reprobate than Greuel. It's a sad state of affairs as most of once viewed Ms Greuel to have the character to be a strong leader for the City. Over the years and especially in this campaign, she has shown that not to be the case.

Umm, if Wendy was truly "setting aside politics" as she claims in the first sentence, she would not have sent the message in her political campaign email letterhead with its "Donate" and "Endorse" buttons at the bottom.
Using someone's misfortune to advance your personal ambition makes Wendy a true political whore. There is nothing she will not do in pursuit of her ambition.
Oh come on Michael.
The bottom of the email looks like a form signature.
She did not ask in the email for donations or endorsements, it was just part of the web email blast form.
What you're saying is a big stretch.
Sure, she could have found a way to remove that.
but your blaming her, instead of her team making a mistake?

Trojan, I know you love Wendy but she set herself up here. She could have very easily sent it out without a campaign template or even as Controller. This is just wrong, they knew exactly what they were doing. And they're expecting more people than not, in today's current society, will react as you have - and not connect the dots.
This is really bad and you know Kevin, Eric and Jan will seize on this, in their own ways.

AS FAR AS WENDY GREUEL IS CONCERNED CLAIM IGNORANCE,RIGHT! HOW EASY TO LET THINGS SLIDE. THIS IS EXAMPLE HOW PEOPLE ON NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCILS AND CHAMBER OF COMMERCES MANIPULATE THE PUBLIC.
