Evening Musings on the Los Angeles Political Scene for Tuesday
"Art Walk LA".
** The fallout from the tragic death of a two year old Montebello infant during last Thursday's Downtown LA Art Walk festivities, is spawning calls for increase safety measures. Yet, in an interview with Streetblog LA, Mayor Villar insists that its too early to talk changes and blame in regards to last week's accident.
** City Councilwoman Jan Perry's issues with legal opinions crafted by the Office of the City Attorney flared up today. Perry and others want a study on the use of outside legal counsel for issues such as crafting billboards zones and other special interest concerns. BTW, Nuch is not happy.
** The Daily News rightfully gives credit to Angelinos who once again saw through the fear-mongering of its political leaders and practice common sense during the "Carmageddon" non-event.
** Ron Kaye's "Carmageddon Non-Event Formula" equates to "Leadership, Planning, Civility Ease Congestion and Who Knew"?
** James Preston Allen in City Watch see's no heir apparent to former CD 15 City Councilwoman Janice Hahn and community divisions ahead.. But below we showcase "Congresswoman Janice Babs Hahn goes to Washington". Enjoy!

Not often you'll hear me cheering for Jan Perry, but her move to oust Carmen the Clown is raising a cheer across the city and across party lines. This lunatic wannabe petty dictator is going to destroy the city attorney's office. The asswad doesn't appreciate that there's a difference between being "independent" and being an opponent. One Tern Trutanuch!

The city council's actions yesterday are neither surprising nor effective. The city charter gives Nuch the power, indeed, the responsibility to do exactly what he has been doing - stand up to the city council, and they don't like it.
Nuch has succeeded in forcing the council to show their hand publicly, and now the battle lines have been drawn, with Nuch positioning himself on the high ground to be able to take strategic shots at his enemies in the horseshoe. The council have seriously underestimated the power Nuch has to crush them, and that is exactly what he will do. Bring it on,

Wouldn't it be nice if all these people were vetted BEFORE they got into office?

I recently had a very bad experience with the City Attorney's Office. I believe that the poiticians are firmly in control of the legal process...
It should be noted that when Jan suggesting shifting to a different structure, the two council people that objected loudest were Huizar and Alarcon...Why?

Excuse me but city council especially Jan Perry is the last person to be criticizing anyone. They are all the most incompetent bunch of dumb idiot goons this city has seen. This is all a delflection of the corrupt AEG NFL stadium deal that evyerone I know is against. Perry hasn't done anything for her constituents and has done everything for the rich AEG and Timmy Lieweke. Wake up people?!!!
