Getting out the vote Councilman Jose Huizar Style
Why do the names of Francine Godoy and Gustavo Valdivia pop into my head when viewing this mailer ?
East Los Angeles Community Corporation Executive Director Maria Cabildo (speaking in support of CRA) and CD 14's other connected non-profits will gather for their once-in-every-four-years appointment with the polling place tomorrow, as Councilman Jose Huizar awaits the verdict of the electorate on his quest for another term in office.
The likes of ELACC's Cabildo, Legacy LA, Eagle Rock Center for the Arts and other connected non-profits, understand when they pimp for public money, that come election time, their clients and supporters must turn out for their "Political Sugar Daddy", in CD 14's case Councilman Jose Huizar.

For the Eagle Rock Center of the Arts, they today posted this news bit on their website, just in time for tomorrow's vote
Thank you to Councilmember Jose Huizar for making a generous donation to Center for the Arts, Eagle Rock so that we can purchase a new sound system to provide more low-cost and free concerts and events. Councilman Huizar has demonstrated continued support of arts and culture in NE Los Angeles and he recognizes the value of maintaining a vibrant arts community.
Could it be that the Eagle Rock Center for the Arts was graced once again with some CLARTS Fund love?
For Legacy LA, paid employees like Martha Gonzalez, use community meetings to remind those that feed from the non-profit trough, to show and vote on election day.
But the connected non-profits of CD 14 may face a new era come Wednesday, if someone other than Councilman Huizar is elected. Thus, the word "audit" might become more prominent in the near future.

When it's a cause you oppose, it's "pimping" but when it's one you support - and they DON'T get money from Huizar, he's "not listening" to the community's wishes.

Correct the residents of CD 14 don't want CLARKS Fund going to salaries. The council offices get a budget for their staff. CLARKS Fund should be going back into the communities to increase public safety and city services first. If there are any dollars left then community organizations and such. To utilize this fund for salaries when services are being cut in this budget crisis is disrespectful to the citizens of the14th district. And to try and hide the expenditures shows just how Jose thinks and feels about his constituents... It's our money, the tax payers...not the special slush fund of the elected official! I mean it's nice to donate to purchase uniforms for a soccer team, but at the risk of my car breaking down and anyone else who drives over pot-holes just doesn't make sense. Leave it to the community and it's organizations to purchase the uniforms. I don't believe it's fair we have to pay twice! And furthermore, maybe a community board should make the decisions (i.e. each neighborhood council) deciding who gets the donations from the CLARKS Fund. This way we keep it clean...the money won't become part of the campaign donations to re-elect an individual to office.

Win or lose Jose will get his Rizzo moment by the end of the year. The reason he has not filed suit against Rudy is because he knows he is being investigated by the FBI.
In fact he also knows his staff and bag man have already testified in front of a Federal Grand Jury.

Instead of reading blogs from political bologna from staffers, I wish people would blog the truth...maybe then we could solve some problems. Financially our city is in terrible shape and we have some very hard decisions that need to be made in the near future. These decisions will affect the services we receive and most importantly our quality of life in the neighborhoods we live. I understand our choices are slim to choose from... This blog use to be informative, and a bit gossipy true, but atleast we were all trying to work towards a better government!
I wish we could get back to the way it was...
Surely we have seen those representing us either do or not do their jobs... That's why I like to see staffer's who live in the district work it. They have ownership and decisions affect their quality of llfe their loved ones, the business' that come and those that go and very importantly their property values!

The (real) people of CD14 elected Huizar TWICE by huge majorities EXACTLY to make these kind of decisions FOR US. City Council says he did it the right way (and so does City Controller).
Soooo, you got NOTHIN' but baseless beefs and pent up hatred.
TOUGH doilies, if you disagree.... you WERE NOT ELECTED to represent CD14. In the end it DON'T matter what YOU, I, or any other complainer "wants" CLARTS to be used for -- it always was, and always WILL be used the way the elected CM WANTS it to be used, in the best interests of the district, and I DARE say ANYONE elected to that seat has a MUCH better sense of what's the "best" interests are than idiot anonymous posters who were oblivious to it all until Martinez told HUGE lies about it as a campaign issue.

I trust Huizar a LOT more then I trust ANY of the armchair quarterbacks that keep popping up with their own silly SCHEMES... and SO do the HUGE majority of voters, and we WILL see again, in about 24 hours.

Boy how the tables have turned. I remember Victor Griego sending out a mailer against Pacheco in 99 where he tried to make himself look darker - browning out his red hair. I didn't think Martinez tried to make Huizar darker - the piece was a mono-color artsy photo.
If Martinez wanted to take an ethnic dig he would have put Huizar under a tree with a wide sombrero taking a siesta with a big HUEVON, embossed on top.
Regardless of who wins or looses, Huizar and every other city politician deserves a thorough, Bell type audit by an outside entity.

In my book, looking a little darker is tantamount to "speaking Spanish" - Huizar drew that card first. So if you beleive Martinez is making Huizar more "ethnic" then you should be thanking him for employing one of Skelton's strategies. Can't have your cake and eat it too!
