Los Angeles Politics Hotsheet for Monday

Paul Krekorian Meets With Community Leaders

There are a few other races than CD14 in the upcoming primaries you may want to consider...

We haven't talked much about the Tenth Council District where Herb Wesson currently serves.  Althea Shaw, the aunt of Jamiel Shaw, the teen shot in cold blood by an illegal alien gang member, is seeking to grab the seat from Wesson.  Shaw, writing at her website, recounts a recent candidates forum where she said Wesson showed up at the last minute and did not seem prepared.

Over in CD6 three poorly funded challengers are going after incumbent Tony Cardenas.  Jamie Cordaro, Rich Goodman and David Barron have collectively raised less than 10% of what the incumbent has earned.  Still each of them say they're making the go of it. Each of them see major failings in Cardenas or the City government as a whole.  Cardenas enjoys filling potholes.

In between his fluffy valentine to Jose Huizar and breakdowns directed towards JoeB and Griffith Park Wayist, Street Hassle's Mulholland Terrace found time to scribe a very well written analysis of the candidacy of Louis Pugliese for school board in the San Fernando Valley.

Why did many constituents of Wendy Greuel when she was Councilperson give up on her for constituent service and call instead their then local State Assembyman, Paul Krekorian, to handle City issues? Because Krekroian had an excellent staff who were pro-actively attentive to the District's needs.  Why does now Councilman Paul Krekorian enjoy the highest approval ratings of any member of the Council? Because he has an excellent staff who are pro-actively attentive to the District's needs.

I hope friends in the Valley really put out a strong grass root campaign and beat the hell out of Cardenas the Mexican Mafia gangster and Little Mitch "lying" Englander. Both already have shown the corruption in their character and we need a grass roots person. We are helping you from over the hill.

How does anyone know that Krekorian enjoys higher approval ratings than the other Councilmembers? Did someone take a survey? You should post the results.

The folks running are good people but 90% of voters in these races are clueless. It takes a lot of money to overcome that.

For example - one of the stronger candidates running against Mitch is Smith. Ironically, in this Republican district, he's a Democrat. In City races, to me at least, party is near meaningless. Even most Republican voters in CD12 are clueless. They'll get a Republican Voter Guide from the bogus Harvey Englander Republican "group" with pictures of Mitchell as a baby on Ronald Reagan's knee, playing dress-up as a policeman and standing with some caucasian homeowners. Pavlov's bell goes and most of these Repugs vote for Mitchell.

The only hope another Republican candidate MIGHT have to peel off enough GOP votes to push Mitch into a runoff is to get LACRP to endorse them and put out a mailer. At this point I don't even know where the county party is at with that.

Some of the candidates who are in Clowncil races that overlap School Board 3 might want to consider pooling their pennies and teaming up with Louis Pugliese for a mailer. If done well that could snatch some votes from the bad people, of course if coupled with intense GOTV.

ABSOlutely guaranteed Red Snot will not be able to spin THIS one as a positive for Rudy Rich (and if tries - or trashes Regardie for telling the truth, obvious Red Snot's just in this for spite):

http://www.ladowntownnews.com/articles/2011/01/28/news/doc4d4365fa92c09925730979.txt

This is about a tell-tale an act of total sinking ship desperation as could be.

But, here's a lesson for Rudy's OBVIously rank amateur team of campaign hacks...

IF you're gonna try the loaded poll B.S. game - especially at this ridiculously biased level and "transparently' dishonest way (hell, this one would make Parke Skelton blush) -- then make DAMN sure you don't include any of the area's reporters or columnists in your call list?

Huh?

What were they thinking?

Are you getting it yet, little ones? SAY and MAKE UP anything to win - burn politicians, burn stakeholders, burn your own family members' reputaions.

Burn, Rudy Burn (in hell). Because that's what happens to liars.

Paul has the best constituent services of any one who has ever represented us in North Hollywood. Would not change the staff he has for any one else's.

Photo is alittle misleading. Should read Paul addressing San Fernando Valley Young Democrats.

Yes, Paul has a very professional staff and they were very elegant and articulate when they raided the homeless camp in Sunland Tujunga a few days before christmas. And yes they were very polite when critizing the press for publishing the photos and articles about the homeless being attacked by gangs in Sunland Tujunga.

Krekorian rocks, met him at the NC leaders meeting in the Valley.

Wish I had him as my councilperson instead of that moron La Bonge.

Paul for Mayor.

Paul for Mayor? Not so fast. Krekorian should first run against Carmen the Clown to kick him out before he does any more damage to the City.

His "I know best" nighttime law school education is going to cost the City millions in damages that will have to be paid to the pot shops he shut down with an unconstitutional ordinance.

And it seems the Clown's welcome is wearing thin in other places too, the idiot was not invited to the South East District Bar Association awards dinner, so he gate-crashed and made a fool of himself.

I bet you can guess exactly where those calligraphic scrolls are going to end up!

Here's a real story. UTLA pulls the plug on their two School Board candidates: Escandon and Fernandez. Ooops. Someone needs to do defensive research BEFORE filing closes.

9:32am - Councilman Krekorian was acting on behalf of his constituents. The homeless were living illegally just over the fence of privates residences.

Councilman Krekorian brought L.A. Family Housing up to the Sunland Tujunga area. Nine people are permanently housed because of his efforts. In addition, L.A. Family Housing has just purchased a 1 acre property to build a 45 unit housing facility to house the local homeless. Thank you Councilmember Krekorian.

Get your facts straight before writing anything further. This is something you can not do in any part of your life.

Dude if Huizar dropped DEAD tomorrow (let alone "dropped out"), he'd still win on the ballot in March.

Ain't that a bitch. Twice in the last four years the Huizar haters have propped up TOTAL air-headed (laugh behind their backs) cartoon characters to oppose Huizar, guys with ACTUAL - not "well, I heard" rumored - dirty, slimy sordid pasts that should have disqualified them from running as a Teamsters union rep, let alone City Council. And then they wondered why Huizar's popularity grew in spite of their sliming.

Note how many of the "negative" non-supportive folks on the big bad "DISCRIMATION" (what B.S.) lists ACTUALLY already endorsed Huizar for Council again. DOZENS!

Is that what happens when City services were WITHHELD from you years before an election for being an "enemy"? You then ENDORSE the guy? Nah, so there you go - NOT discrimination, challenges to overcome. If anything, Huizar's staffers worked overtime to deal with the issues that left these people less than positive on Huizar 3-4 years ago when the lists were actually being used, and BROUGHT THEM OVER by addressing their concerns.

(And yes, damn it, even by MEETING with them just like Krekorian in this thread's story). I'm not even on any lists and in the last couple years, I've been INVITED to a half-dozen community meetings with Huizar, where he answered any question thrown at him, and even dealt with the 5-6 bashers hiding in the back of the room - who were ALSO invited (when they actually had the GUTS to ask him something versus heckling under their breath - or just posting anonymous lies here).

He's also stopped by our area NCs more than once, once last year just to explain what kind of services would suffer under the city's budget cuts and what he hoped to do to minimize some of the problems that caused - all WELL before the ramp up to any campaign.

(Did Rudy RICH ever show his face at a community meeting, a garden party, a neighborhood watch, a coffee klatch, a residents association, HOA, local Democrats Club (sorry, wait, he was a Republican until just a few minutes ago. Okay, then...), a Republicans Club, a boxing club, a biking club, an investment circle, a bar mitzvah, an art gallery opening, a quinceanera, a barn raising, a holiday tree lighting, a business grand opening (OTHER than his own), a candlelight vigil for some victim of a drive by, a ship christening, a ground breaking, a community picnic, OR an NC meeting... EVEN the one where he's a stakeholder, before announcing?

Oh, HELL no.

He was too damn BUSY screwing homeowners out of their homes to flip or and getting college kids in HP drunk, to fill his own bank account.

Some guys go through a mid-life crisis and buy a big fancy six-figure sportscar - which Rudy Rich no doubt already has. Others suddenly get all altruistic for about a year and decide they want to SAVE mankind (just until they realize it's more work than glory, and it doesn't pay that well for the sacrifices required).

Then the BAHAMAS call to them ... and they get over all that sudden "unselfish" sh*t and get back to screwing people to make themselves richer.

Time to double check your facts, only three placed. The Incumbent is working hard in S/T to rid the community of those pesky homeless men, women and children. After all we need to make sure the support of those selling property is maintained.

Maybe he should use some of his Assembly Committee Campaign money that the special interests are now pouring money into, to help them alittle more rather than running them out of town on a rail.

Too bad UTLA didn't do their research on Escandon and Fernandez first, like they did on Pugliese. Now all their candidates are toast.

They should have done a better job screening their candidates.

The funny part about Pugliese defaulting on his student loan and being dragged into court by the Department of Justice was his defense -- WHICH HE WROTE HIMSELF! He had the balls to say he shouldn't have to pay back the loan because the statute of limitations has expired! That doesn't expire much confidence in a candidate for the financial mismanaged, to say the least, LAUSD.

Again, at least UTLA did their homework on Pugliese -- unlike Escandon and Fernandez.

That's funny. And the U.S. Department of Education hired a local law firm to do the dirty work against Pugliese -- Goldsmith and Hull. That popped up on the case, #01-08572, U.S. District Court, Central District of California. This case was recent, 2002, and easy to find. I bet the stuff on Escandon and Fernandez wasn't as easy to find. Must have been decades ago, although Escandon is young, right?

As a council member, Krekorian is untested on a key issue - how he truly views development in his district. Currently, there is a very large project pending that requests lots of special treatment - totally legal, with strong opposition from his constituents and an adjacent community. He has gone on record stating that he wouldn't support special entitlements. Yet while serving on PLUM and in the Council he voted in support of another project which sought similar special treatment.

Since he is almost unchallenged, he will win. But, the next 4 years will determine if he should remain for another 8 years. Then we will learn who he really serves.

11:11am, Your facts are incorrect.
9 people were indeed placed in permanent housing after the Homeless Day that was held at North Valley City Hall. Paul Krekorian was asked by many in the community to help find housing for these homeless. Additionally, we wanted to clean out the camps in the Wash due to the tremendous damage being done to the area. The idea is to not just keep people moving but to find permanent housing.

11:11am Your facts are incorrect and appear to be written with a ulterior motive.

Furthermore, if Krekorian were "working hard in S/T to rid the community of those pesky homeless men, women and children" (as you say) WHY would if have brought L.A. Family Housing up to S/T and encouraged them to purchase land to build a 45 unit apartment building?

Your logic gets a big FAIL.!
