Los Angeles Politics Hotsheet for Wednesday
What's your favorite taco? |
Billboard wackos may not want to click the link below!
Anti-billboard wackos are afraid they may be losing their battle for the hearts and minds of Angelenos following the use of digital billboards in helping to nab the Grim Sleeper serial killer. Councilman Bernard Parks gets that residents like the billboards and they serve a useful purpose. Others, including Carmen the Clown, need to get off that NIMBY train and focus on things that matter.
Lindsay Lohan's imprisonment is having an impact on small business. The Beach Bum tanning salon where LiLo has bronzed it up will be holding a "Free Lindsay" rally hoping to get their best customer back soon.
We noted earlier this week the one year anniversary of Griffith Park Wayist. Yet no one else has seemed to mark the occasion as of yet. I guess this blog which has never met a gourmet taco it didn't like and this one that never fails to run a girlie photo when it can are just too full of themselves to pay tribute to a blog that is doing the yeoman work of the blog-LA-sphere.
Labels: Arizona Immigration Law, billboards, goofy boycott, griffith park wayist, grim sleeper, Lindsay Lohan

Lash out at the other blogs Mayor Sam, but take a look at what your own history is like.
You have had to fire HOW many contributors?
Trujillo, Dogg, Haikula, Jennerjahn, Valley Doll, and those are the ones who I remember. And then there is the insistance on letting a genuinely illiterate man continue to post stories as if a first grader wrote it.
And worst of all, as long as I've read your blog, which is usually fun, you've always had a huge stick up your ass about Kevin Roderick.
Do you stomp your feet and pout when you don't get yur way? It goes with the impetuous way you run the blog. Yeah, then there's that time you suddenly quit and shut down your blog. Real professional.

Is there a police report on the mayor's broken elbow?
If not, shouldn't there be one? I mean it's the mayor and it's hit and run, and someone suffered a significant injury.
I haven't been able to find a police report.
I'm curious because I never knew the mayor was cyclist.
Something doesn't seem right about all of this.

Watch out Higby! You're going to have Rumpole of the Berger and Dennis Blabaway coming after you for dissing Trutanich the Tool and the sillyboard people!

Mayor Sam, no matter how many times I knock on your door, you keep omitting the freshest politics blog in LA, www.losangelesandfirst.com! There are posts on Alarcon and Whitman up just today!

LAObserved is usually pretty good but come on Higby do you think that he's even going to mention anything to do with that idiot Mailander? How many times daily does Mailander insult Kevin for no reason?
Have to agree with you on LAist though. That's about the most culturally immature blog around. What does Zach Barret do all day other than review tacos and write about stoplights? Their design is horrible too. Right of 1999.

I can not believe that the city council would do something as smart as keeping the contract with the Super Shuttle. I can not believe they understand that without it would mean more unemployment and all those Los Angeles people that work there without jobs. What do you know? They can make a good decision once in a blue moon.

Rumpole must be sleeping in. Come on Berger come call Higby a fathead! It's time for a little Robin Leach!

I'd like to see Higby's response to today's first commnet, because it's true. I enjoy MS's blog too, but the antics here are purely childish.
And continuing the elementary school analogy, there is that schoolyard bully Joe B., who makes PERSONAL attacks if you aren't a lefty or if you disagree with his comments.
Fun, but purely schoolyard. So it fits that Higby, instead of just ignoring what the other blogs do, tries to point out what he perceives as their flaws.
Childish.

The sheriff of the most populous county in Arizona says he's "not going to put up with any civil disobedience" when the state's new immigration law takes effect.
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio says that if protesters want to block his jail, he'll put them in it.
The Arizona law, which takes effect Thursday, requires officers enforcing other laws to check a person's immigration status if they suspect the person is in the country illegally.

We're waiting you dumb ass!

I'm confused. What does Higby find "girly" about a barechested photo of Isaiah Mustafa?
What are you saying Higby?

6:49 Could that mean the Mayor browbeat his Security Detail into not filing a police report?
Or if one did/does get filed, would they have been aware of a false report filed?

8:55... I am assuming a police report DOESN'T exist... I am assuming he didn't get side swiped... I am assuming he didn't fall off a bike.
Just like athletes who injure themselves doing something they are either too embarrassed to talk about, or contractually prohibited from doing, i think the mayor is hiding something... which wouldn't be the first for him... would it?
maybe it was a tiger moment and Lu pushed him down stairs.

Is higby really in a tizzy because the world failed to recognize the anniversary of a boutique blog that is hardly known about or read? Nothing wrong with the GPW blog. But if you are lashing out at the world for not taking blog note then I wonder about your take on other things.

Higby runs GPW and wants to make us think its some one else.

Let the truth set you free Mr. Little Mayor.
The reason why there is no police report because there was no taxi involved.
Here is what really happen and I challenge mr. Flunkly liltte matt sazbo to spin this with real fact, and no bull-shit.
Fact number 1: There no way the Mayor could ride his pink little bike more than 20 plus miles an hour period.
What caused the Mayor accident was a pot-hole, and since there was to witness to the accident once again the Mayor lied to cover-up the truth.

Higby didn't fire Valley Doll. She threw a childish fit and left in tears because Higby gave her boyfriend Barack O'Carter a hard time. BOO-HOO! WWAAHH!
Michael Higby said:
I love the dum dums on here.
I didn't fire Valley Doll. Nor did she quit in a fit. She chose to not blog at the time for her own reasons which I supported. She is always welcome and I frequently link to her blogs.
I didn't fire Trujillo either. He left when he got a new job that procluded him from blogging. He remains a supporter and has helped me at times. I don't agree with his whacked out politics but that's another thing.
Yes, Zuma Dogg was removed due to internal issues. As was Phil Jennerjahn. Haikula as well, particularly when we discovered their true identity.
Over time as well we removed writers from the blog due to inactivity. Others have left for their own reasons.
That being said the three other contributors to this blog (including Solomon who doesn't blog so much these days but is responsible for tech/admin things) have been with the blog longer than anyone other than myself.
Why you care, well I don't really know.

I wish I was Wayist! I would love to take credit for that blog!

Higby let that CHILD who gave her MOM'S STUPID RECIPES go because she couldn't handle the heat.
Typical of higby to put someone on the spot who can't handle the heat or even understand that this place is not about recipes.
Higby let her go. Dont wanna call it being fired? Fine, but he "let her go." Dumb ass paternalist
