LeBong's Highest Priority

Since when did a taxpayer funded "meet and greet" become high priority? Not to be a Scrooge and I'm always down for any good party - holiday or not - but it gets rather tiring when all you can get from the local electeds is news of their photo opps. Especially from the king of photo opps.

Can we seriously find someone to run against LeBong? Hell Chris Essel can when she loses CD2.  She'd fit in real well in Hancock Park!

I guess this isn't as bad though as HUIZAR'S WINTER WONDERLAND.  Which if memory serves me was cancelled this year, yes?

What do you think, Councilmembers are supposed to face the City's mounting fiscal crisis sober?

Come on man, haven't you heard they are on the brink of bankruptcy?!

Pass the whiskey and make Tom's a double, there's a lot of work to get done.

Maybe we can talk about how Chris Essel shouldn't be posting her crappy signs in CD4!

Anyway I spoke to Mike Trujillo, he was not the little kid chasing the birds on Chico and the Man. But he thought it was cute.

Someone on Kaye's blog says LaBonge is joining Wendy and Eric (and Perry) in running for Mayor.

Say it can't be so!

Sylmar used to be The Spartans, so the mascot should be "Sparty", but now that Alarcon is back in the Council, he wants to change the team name to the Guachos, and the mascot's name to......

"Zorro"

Of course the signs are in the wrong districts. Didn't a previous post mention Sheftel was delivering them?

"Where did you go to high school?"

"Want some Nun's bread?"

"Let's go for a hike up to the observatory and clean the place up."

"I love Los Angeles and the LADWP."

I've now exhausted LeBonge's vocabulary and thought processes.

There is nothing else to say.

Just WEHN is the next mayoral election?

In CD-14, any signage for events will always bear Jose Huizar's name prominently displayed- it's sort of a tradeoff for funding approval, I imagine. I don't know who decides the font size but modesty has no place for the events.

I think that Tom should replace the question- "What high school did you go to?"

Instead, use, "What high school did you graduate from?" You will get a better idea on the wide impact regarding LASUD over the years in the drop out area.

Not all dropouts wind up in a dead end path, but most don't make things any easier for themselves by their early exit.

Tom asks people which high school they went to because he went to high school here, and it was a highlight moment of his life. Notice that he never asks people which college they went to.

Le Bong asks everyone what high school they went to because it's an excuse to remember and remind that he was a jock then, and it was the highlight of his life, the pinnacle.

Usually characters like this are the sad sacks in a movie, the ones who always remember that moment fondly, how sad when you peak by 18. But in his case he's fooled the people into electing him (twice?) thanks to his rah-rah enthusiasm.

Of course, electing stupidly enthusiastic people seems par for the course in L A, first Tony V and now the Nooch. But we have to make sure he never rises any higher, that he goes and finds a real job somewhere. Pointing to Wendy's faults doesn't justify even thinking about a braindead simpleton for such an office. You can look at the current occupant of the job and say, "I could do that," but we want more, someone intelligent (that leaves out Perry too) AND enthusiastic, AND sincere and not a leftwing idealologue (lordie no to Alarcon, Reyes, Huizar, Hahn). Or rightwing hack with a mean streak (Zine, Parks and just in case Nooch is thinking about messing up at a higher level of his incompetence). OR anyone Phil would support.

Here's hoping on a day of hope.

That brings up an interesting question: who is the most intelligent City Councilmember?

OK, Garcetti wins that one, but who's #2?

November 27, 2009 11:18 AM

Anonymous Anonymous said:

11:18, Garcetti IS probably the smartest now that Weiss is out of the horseshoe, and he has the pol's practiced grin and cool smile to hide whatever he's really thinking. But WHAT he is really thinking is another matter. "Elegant density" meaning boxes with no or too little parking, putting the cart before the horse in building them before we have the subway (incl. Red Line hookup to his signature Hollywood/ Highland area) which could be decades. His district has 2/3 renters, lots of illegals, and he is unsympathetic to the R1 areas. This feeds into all kinds of deals he's got cooking - and let's not forget he was the council's point man on Measure B, that he's trying to distance himself from now.

We need someone with more of a sense of BALANCE, who understands that BOTH make up what's uniquely L A.
