Afternoon on the Terrace

He likes the morita
. This is a slow news day in City Hall, so slow that Mayor Villaraigosa wandered down to Ralphs to celebrate the fact that Homegirl has placed two salsas at Ralphs. (Ralph's issued a press release for the event). Eric Richardson of blogdowntown snaps a fine photo of Antonio Villaraigosa sampling salsa.

Not one but two Amendments are at risk in this bizarre story about the way local County government tries to control leaks. Free speech and illegal seizure are challenged by the LA County Sheriffs. Buried in the story is a memo by a district attorney on the case. It looks like Cooley's office might have given an opinion on how to handle the matter: with disregard for fundamental Constitutional rights.

Cooley's not the only lawman gone rogue of late. In Arizona, the Minutemen's favorite Sheriff has been reeled in a bit by the Obama administration for administering cruel and unusual punishment on undocumented aliens.

Representative Debbie Wasserman Schulz, (D-Fla, right), has breast cancer. Her next GOP opponent fires a gun at a target with her initials on it. That is one hell of a novel way to promote Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Ron Kaye sees cowardice at City Hall as the city spends its way towards bad bond ratings. Kaye's solution: "The mayor -- whose silence on the budget is the ultimate in irresponsible leadership -- and the rest of the city's elected leadership need to sit down with the unions and lay out a plan for salary and benefit cuts, elimination of non-basic services and a temporary two-year tax hike that truly brings city spending in line with revenue." He notes that the City Hall website is down again as of his posting, probably because this blog sent it too much traffic yesterday and exhausted the hamster that spins the wheel that keeps the server running.

We're picking up chatter that San Pedro wants light rail to come its way too.

Anthony Tommasini in the liberal fishwrap of record liked Dudamel's debut. So did the Mayor. But the New York Times critic heard trouble in the strings--"patchy string tone and scrappy execution"--something we've heard from the Phil for a while now.

I figured it out. Follow along.

1. Higby won't answer who Mulholland Terrace is.

2. We know that Higby is too busy for the blog any more.

3. He knows that people hate Joe B.

4. Joe B. has lots of time on his hands.

5. They create Mulholland Terrace as a misleading title to cover for the S-T blog bully, who sensors comments

Who cares about the salsa story?

Seriously, is that worth our time? Who really cares?

Hi Dumdum @ 12:47! You're on your way to doing a great Red Spot imitation.

There it is--take it.

San Pedro wants light rail?

How long would that take and how much would that cost?

A cheaper and instant alternative is to bus over to the Blue Line in nearby Long Beach and you have your light rail access.

According to program material, Tony will have to speak up on something that resembles a budget tomorrow morning at the function for NC board members and the stakeholders (everybody) but regigration online is required. http://www.lacityneighborhoods.com/
He might be quiet now getting his stories straight for tomorrow- and who will be the first one to ask about the approval of that David Nahai consultant contract?

Well, enough sarcasm for now.

Or Mulholland Terrace might be Higby himself, veering away from some of his earlier views. Like calling out Trutanich on previous thread for more Republican posturing and "waving pom poms" as Cooley goes on another rightwing bender on medical marijuana dispensary issue, whose activist community Trutanich promised to be sympathetic to and so they beat the drums for him. Walked precincts, made calls, the whole nine yards and now again he reveals his true stripes, hiding behind Cooley's coattails.

With their Council lackey Zine trying to cancel out Koretz' influence, Reyes and Huizar utterly flummoxed. So the MJ people are realizing they've been Laura Chick'd and planning to sue - with the aid of a growing state movement that has momentum on their side for safe regulation not returning to where patients had to turn to criminals to get their pot. Still another embarrassment for those who campaigned so hard for Trutanich and attacked the critics who told the truth about the guy - so Higby has created a new, more moderate, cosmopolitan persona who also weighs in on the string section at the Philharmonic.

(The old Higby told such 'elitists' to run to NPR because they were on the wrong blog.)

You nailed it 3:04!

It matters if the GUY WHO CONTROLS THE BLOG is suddenly and AGAIN writing under another ID to undo his past stupid positions.

Can't do it Higby.
Can't do it without being scrutinized.
