Your Comments about "Huizar y Casas" at CD-14's Hollenbeck Police Station

"Who saw what at Hollenbeck's National Night Out ??"
This blogger can say on good authority, from your comments, that Councilman Jose Huizar had some sort of "episode" with staff, that involved the presence of former Deputy Chief of Staff, Henry Casas.
Your Comments and on-site observations,
** 8:27 I was there and saw the whole thing. Jose really lost it, he was yelling at a couple of his staff. One young girl got the brunt of it. I thought he was going to strike her. I really felt scared for her. The sad thing about it was that no one did a thing to stop him. He was surrounded by male staff and they just watched in fear. I cant say why he was mad, just that it did happen.
August 05, 2009 11:16 PM
** I was there too along with someone from the Voice who witnessed the whole thing. I felt sad for the girl who looked like she was going to get punched. Hyizzy was wagging his finger in her face and yelling. I'd like to see the Hoser shove that chubby finger in Henry's face and get it shoved up his fat ass.
August 05, 2009 11:50 PM
** 11:16 I WAS THERE. HE LOOKED HAPPY AND CALM.
August 05, 2009 11:51 PM
** Everyone saw Jose lose it. He was up on stage when he heard Henry Casas was in the audience and starting questioning everyone about why Henry was there. He stormed up to that young girl, put is hands in her face-so close I was just waiting for him to strike her and just starting screaming at her. Everyone just stood there scared. It was ugly, he stormed off, she looked so terrified I thought she was going to cry.
August 06, 2009 12:07 AM
** Word has it that LAPD is not very happy with Huizar when they heard the news of the incident. Apparently the young staffer has favorite status at the Hollenbeck station. If the ties weren't bad before between Huizar and LAPD they just got worst.
August 06, 2009 9:16 AM
** Hey I'm an officer with LAPD and I was there. We did see the incident but we had community folks come up to us later and tell us what happen. They were very upset, unfortunately no one on staff said anything when asked about it. To tell you the truth it makes me sick that he could get away with that. It might have to do with his sister-in-law working at the station. What we did see and what is all the talk at the station was what Huizar's office did to there former Chief Henry Casas. As soon as he got to the event they sent a staff person to follow him around. It was funny to watch. I mean they were on him like white on rice. Everyone of us noticed it and even made joke to Henry about Huizar having lo-jack on him. Henry if you read this stuff you are welcome in Hollenbeck any time. Jose, I never liked you after your anti cop statements at the Ramon Gardens and after Henry left your office your stock went down even lower with us but to scare the crap out of one your young female staff is just the last straw. Hope to god that you never mess up and break the law infront of me because I don't care what management tells me to do, I would take you down hard.
August 06, 2009 9:33 AM
** If this is true, why doesn’t she come forward? They can’t be retaliation on the office it will be to obvious. Its all hear say until somebody comes forward.
August 06, 2009 9:43 AM
** Where were the MEN in the area who witnessed this woman getting verbally assaulted by Huizar? How can people stand around and watch and not do a damn thing? If I was there I would have slapped him. This woman can now file a restraining order against Huizar and claim she is in fear of her life if she believes he will physcially harm her. She has a lot of witnesses from the stories. Men who behave this way are COWARDS
August 06, 2009 11:37 AM
** I really doubt that Jose would act that way, he is a family man and over all good person. He would never take what isn't his and he would never strike a woman.

Defend Huizar if you will, newbie CD14 staffers posting here (anonymously), but there's some reason he's run through more staffers in the last 4 years than any five of his council colleagues combined.

They don't all get fired, but boy do they leave quickly. At six months the other staffers start leaving empty boxes by your desk, just to be helpful. And, if you get to celebrate a 1-year anniversary there, they give you a gold watch.

When there are no constituents around, they all wear those "Hello, My Name is_______" stickers, just so they know each other -- and the office manager buys the stickers by the case.

You guys may make fun of this incident but it is very serious. If the girl doesn't come forward there is nothing anyone can do. However, whoever was there need to question Huizar at his so called meetings when questions are asked. ON another note I think its hypocritical for the bastards on city council starting to speak to media who they want as Chief. They need to do their own jobs and stay out of it. PPL police union has enough money and has already started their $$$$ machine. They have bought some council members like Zine and smith. They bought Trutanich and Red Spot you better post this and now they want to buy a new Chief all because they are the most insecure group of control freaks in this city.

OMG WTF??? Antonio is spinning his pick for Chief. He fits perfectly on this thread cause he is BFF with Huizar so NO. He's Deputy Chief Sergio Diaz who is Cuban and is the token Latino promoted to calm the waters after May 1st. He supports illegals as much as Huizar and has told his officers NOT to ticket the illegal vendors. He's turned English speaking meetings into TJ land. Hell No we don't want this guy. This is Antonio's pick and the media has started to bring his name up. Diaz is part of Antonio's Mecha, TJ kiss ass group. NO one likes him in CD14. He doesn't have the experience to be Chief.

HEY! What happened to this post from yesterday? Did the mayor's team pressure someone to take it down?

Joe Avila, CD14 chief of staff was seen eating recently with a big city hall lobbyist. They were acting all friendly but talking hushed so I was interested. It sounded financial first then Avila blew all kinds of shit out about Huizar, about Alatorre and other people this blog would reconize. It was unbelievable! Avila does not likeeeeee his bosseeeeee!

It's hard to say exactly what this was about fo-sho, but I heard plenty and my guess is Avila is going to take care of some deal or some vote without Huizar knowing and it may have been related to Alatorre. Avila told the lobbyist "I'll square it away."

The best part - after Avila strutted out the lobbyist picked up the phone and said six words in his phone with a smile like the cat who ate the canary. He laughed at Avila and finished his wine.

So who got played here? Huizar? Avila? Alatorre? All. The lobbyist is the puppetmaster and Huizar has a serious Avila problem in the cupboard.

Then like ice cream on top of pie, a week later Avila was sneaking away from City Hall in the middle of the day in a car all chummy with Richard Alatorre the same guy he just blew all kinds of stuff about with a lobbyist the week before.

Sources say Alatorre is making nice with Avila to get projects he's "consulting" through that Huizar does no want. Of course none of Alatorre's "registered" clients are located in district 14, but what they hey,

What's the game? Avila thinks he is a player but doesn't know when he's getting played. Who knows what Avila thinks he is cooking up, but it won't be good for Huizar.

If he keeps playing with Alatorre and Moret, he will get burned.

Richard and Moret are hotter than a $2.00 pistol; they're radioactive.

Two different investigations are going on about his dealings and failure to register clients. Look to him to be the "poster boy" for the Ethics Commission when they finally decide to enfore the laws they keep pushing the Council to adopt.

Alatorre's antenna is out of tune; he just keeps doing it, despite the article in the Times and the fact that lots of people are watching. Closely.

Villaraigosa's "Informal Advisor" Richard Alatorre Featured In Today's LA Times
QUESTION: Is Richard Alatorre (see story below) now lobbying for a certain well known Charter School operator/principal/school facility owner regarding Debs Park in Boyle Heights? In 2005, Marcos Aguilar wanted to open a school on Debs Park land. Maybe this is a different Charter School operator that Alatorre may be lobbying for. But since he isn't a registered lobbyist, you can't really call it lobbying -- or can you?

August 07, 2009 1:43 AM

He (Alatorre) is an informal advisor to Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. [See...that's just what I thought. Thanks!]

Villaraigosa-appointed board members of the Community Redevelopment Agency, meanwhile, say Alatorre lobbied at least one of them in August on behalf of Amerland Group, a developer of affordable housing. The board subsequently voted to give Amerland access to $8 million in public grants and loans.

Federal authorities suspected Alatorre of extorting cash from the owner of a low-income apartment complex in Boyle Heights. The businessman, Samuel Mevorach, told the FBI he feared that if he did not pay up, Alatorre might have him cited for building code violations.

Pacheco took Alatorre out with the truth and then Villar took Pacheco out with lies and inuendos. Fabian is cut from the same cloth.

Alatorre, Villar, Nunez, Cedillo, Hernandez, Alarcon, Molina - the Latino political establishment has long been hijacked by an ultra liberal core of easily bought dumb shit whores. Funny that the Latino community by nature is rather conservative. This is democracy in action in our barrios.

It's 1982 and Gloria Molina is an ambitious 34-year-old with a host of credentials in state and federal government. There is an open seat in the Assembly, a district in East Los Angeles, and she thinks she has a good chance of becoming the first Latina in the state Legislature. Two dozen of the most powerful Latinas in Los Angeles agree: Molina is their candidate.

So she walks into the office of then-Assemblyman Richard Alatorre, Democratic political boss of the Eastside, and asks for his support. But does he treat her with respect? Does he grant her what she deserves? Of course not, she relates, still angry years later. Alatorre's a politician on a macho power-trip and he meets with "the guys" first. And the guys--other prominent Eastside Latino Democrats--decide: "Gloria, it's not your turn." They treat Molina like some no-name political flunky, and the person they pick is one of their own: Richard G. Polanco, a former aide to Gov. Edmund G. Brown Jr.

Molina is stunned. She's paid her dues. She's worked in their campaigns, walked their precincts, run their field offices. Now these men are pushing her around the way Latina women have always been pushed around. For a moment, she sinks into despair.

But then she pulls herself together and decides to run for the Assembly seat anyway. " No se deja ," she won't be intimidated. She beats Alatorre's handpicked candidate. As the years pass, she focuses on other posts: City Council, Board of Supervisors. Each time, Alatorre, now an L. A. city councilman, and his buddies run candidates against her. Each time, Molina wins, always beating "one of the guys." And each time it is clear that Gloria Molina will never forget the people who have stood in her way.

"How many times do you let them sock you in the face?" she asks during an interview in her office at the County Hall of Administration, the windows open to a panoramic view of the Los Angeles Civic Center and the Financial District. "You keep forgiving and you keep forgiving. And now I've gotten to the point where I don't want to deal with these guys. They walk on their side of the street, I walk on mine. . . . I hope you're not suggesting that I should (forgive them). I don't see any reason to. Am I supposed to be the Virgen de Guadalupe?" This is vintage Molina--cautious, down to earth, suspicious.

Her opponents, she is certain, would not forgive her were the roles reversed. "If I would have lost that first time (in 1982), they told me my name would be mud. They were not nice about it," she says, agitated as though this happened yesterday. "Keep in mind, they were powerful people. They were accustomed to the role they played: Big chingones, they're in charge. They didn't want some pipsqueak like me coming in."

August 07, 2009 2:38 AM

Anonymous Anonymous said:

In a city known for its bland political leaders, Molina is refreshingly colorful and media-genic. She is always quotable, often controversial, seemingly unconcerned about whom she might offend. At a recent press conference, for example, she laughed derisively when asked what she thought of the prospect of Richard Alatorre running for mayor; a half-dozen television cameras captured the moment for the evening news.

How does a Deputy Mayor under Bradley end up buying a Magic Johnson replica mini-mansion in San Marino? And how does Andy Camacho, who has restuarants in 3 city venues Olvera Street, the Airport and Universal Walk, end up on the trust deed?

The panel, part of a larger corruption probe directed by the U.S. attorney in Los Angeles, also has summoned another Alatorre relative who, in 1996, helped finance a $30,000 down payment for a $253,000 Eagle Rock home. Retired relative Frank E. Mendoza, 62, gave Alatorre $7,200. Derrick Alatorre gave his father $5,000 in cash. Darrell Alatorre provided a $7,200 cashier’s check but days later fell behind on a $40,000 business loan. At issue is whether Alatorre, through his family, got help from political allies who have gained contracts from the city and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the Los Angeles Times reported today. Also under subpoena are contractors across the country. http://www.americanpatrol.com/CRIME/alatorrescorruptfeds121598

Of course, some of this may be wishful thinking. Alatorre’s crowd has grown accustomed to profiting by the city contracts he was able to steer their way. One such Alatorre pal is David Lizarraga, head of the barrio-to-riches economicdevelopment giant TELACU, which has been the recipient of spoils from city contracts and stood to profit handsomely on potential contracts from the nowstalled Eastside extension of the MTA Red Line. Another is Pla, head of Cordoba Corporation, a consulting, development and management firm with business throughout California and around the world. Commerce Department officials questioned Pla and Cordoba Corporation’s financial management of a federal program (which involved the hiring of former state Senator Art Torres to a $90,000 job) - an investigation that many feared would destroy Pla. According to Pla, federal officials have now reduced the money in question from several hundred thousand dollars to a few thousand, “and we’re challenging even those figures, and will continue to. “We have seen from what I’ve gone through,” says Pla, “and from what many others have gone through that allegations are just that, allegations. Typically, there’s an overreaction to a story, but that doesn’t make it true any more than the allegations themselves.” Perhaps Alatorre can take heart that no one is talking recall, as some constituents sought to do in the northeast First Council District after Councilman Mike Hernandez’s drug-related arrest last year.

Back to the August 6th story: Henry Casas is the one posting all the "eye witness" events about Huizar. And what is going on with Hollenbeck police officers publicly accepting a domestic violent aggressor? I thought LAPD was supposed to protect citizens from people like him. Huizar had to fire Casas. He has a history of domestic violence and he violated his restraining order in a ranting rage against his Ex. LAPD notified Huizar's office immediately.
