Nahai Defeats Truman: Ooops
Hat tap to the awesome Twitters at the now rock star godlike No On Measure B Campaign for a fun tweet:
DEWEY WINS "Los Angeles Labor, Environmental, Community Leaders Celebrate Passage of Measure B"Hold the phone Batman! Those chomping at the bit for some of the Measure B jack were ready to pounce even before the last Minuteman left Walter Moore's rally at Dupars, issuing some bold statements. From the Times:
First up was H. David Nahai, the head of the Department of Water and Power, who sent an e-mail statement to reporters at 11:12 p.m. hailing Measure B's passage and congratulating voters for making "a bold choice for the environment." In his statement, Nahai said the DWP "has already laid the groundwork for ramping up the workforce required to begin implementing Measure B."But wait there's more:
And shortly after midnight, the head of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor sent her own statement touting her group's involvement in the Measure B campaign. "Tonight, voters clearly agreed that Measure B is more of what we need to get our environment and economy back on track," said Maria Elena Durazo, the federation's secretary treasurer.Looks like Measure B isn't shovel ready quite yet. A spate of uncounted provisional, absentee and hanging-ink-a-spot ballots could change course but not likely at this point.

I hope Ron Kaye and his group keep a watchful eye on the absentee ballots counting. I don't trust the corrupt Mayor not to step in and do something underhanded to win at all costs.

I concur, 4:25. I concur.

Someone on another string said that Zuma Dogg hasn't changed policy. And technically, that seems so.
But in practice, he seems to have made real change when it comes to those Event Fee Waivers.
In the past several weeks (or longer), there have been many more reimbursements made to the city, than the fees being waived.
There is no doubt that Zuma Dogg, and some others, have made that change happen.

What do you mean by the hanging-ink-a-spot ballots? I'm worried. I couldn't line my ballot with the "holes" to mark with ink. I pushed it down as hard as I could, but it just wouldn't line up. However, the ink was close enough to the hole to know what my vote was (no on B).
Did my vote count?

Whoa, Higby not only deleted a post that I made, but he also edited and reposted it as Zuma Fan above.
What gives Higby?
It's one thing for you to post as another person. It's a whole other thing to take a REAL person's content, delete their post, edit it, and repost it as Zuma Fan.
Tell your readers what gives. Let's see if you're bold enough to admit this in your Hot Sheet tomorrow.
And if you don't admit or correct it, I will send the screen shots to LAist, LAObserved, Street Hassle and the others.

Hey 7:45, if there was a problem on your ballot (like you couldn't figure out how to push the inker), then the PBR machine would spit your ballot back at you with a slip of paper that said, "NO VOTE." Your hard-working poll worker would have given you another ballot and try to show you how to push the inker.
Who's the dum-dum now?

7:56 PM I don't know if you really posted, or not, but there's no way for you to prove it. Your taking a screenshot won't work. Thos blogs have no method to verify that you really hit "publish" or if you're just discontented with this Mayor Sam blog and playing around in Photoshop. And if your post was stupid and hateful, they'd probably be on Higby's side.

The poster who got his post deleted is someone who is no longer allowed to post on Mayor Sam because he's an annoying sack.
His post also contained something we chose not to publish.
However he made a good point and just to piss this guy off who's really been a bad citizen I renamed him Zuma fan.
We reserve the right to edit our blog.
Almost all of you will never require that.
And do be sure to shop it to other blogs, especially LAObserved because they have lots of great reader comments on their posts.
Clown.

Maybe a dum-dum, but my inker did make a spot. My ballot didn't line up with the holes, so the ink didn't match up perfectly. I have a physical handicap and failed to ask for help. It seemed like my ink spots were close enough. When I read the "hanging-ink-a-spot" sentence of this post I started to worry. I have no idea what that means and was curious if my scenario applies.
I guess I was a dum dum since I didn't ask for help. I'm relieved to know the box would have rejected it had something been wrong.

So why be deceptive Higby?
It's great that you're admitting to it - now that the person pointed it out.
But why lie to the readers and repost it as "Zuma Fan"?
Well, there you go folks. Higby is admitting to taking content from a commenter, editing it, and then posting it under a fake name.
No need for screenshots.
