Wacko Jacko Cries to Daily News
You can read more about this at Ron Kaye's site but since Louise Clarke Stone was nice enough to point this out to us I decided to share it here.
Following being outed by Zuma Dogg for being a serial non-meeting attender, Council Member and Hopeful City Attorney Jack "Wacko Jacko" Weiss had to bitch and whine about media coverage he's not getting:
Weiss responds (to DailyNews)
Re "Lack of will" (Our Opinions, Aug. 19):
It's disappointing that the Daily News' coverage of the DNA backlog has been limited to one story and one editorial, because DNA is a constant priority for me. As promised, every week I lead a discussion in the Public Safety Committee on the DNA backlog and cold hits, but like the rape-kit backlog, these hearings haven't gotten the attention they deserve. For six years, I've made DNA a priority. Just in the past year, I got crime lab staff and found funding for outsourcing 400 backlogged rape kits. Last year, I gave the LAPD $100,000 from my office staff budget to test 100 rape kits because this issue is and always will be a high priority for me.

Stone responds (to Weiss)
I am shocked -- I tell you -- shocked. Jack Weiss reads the newspaper and actually responds to something other than his cell phone? Weiss must have actually attended a Council meeting and, as usual, was bored with the public comment portion of the meeting. I guess this is a demonstration of Jack Weiss throwing down the gauntlet in his bid for the position of City Attorney. Well, Mr. Weiss, as usual, I am underwhelmed with you. The City has put up with Rocky for all these years and now you think you should get your chance -- no way. You have been allowed to insult the "public" of the City of Los Angeles for too long already. I vote "no on Weiss for LA City Attorney" and encourage others to do the same.

I think that it is great that Weiss wants to be credited with championing such an important issue, but after SIX years of failing to resolve the problem, he is really better off letting it fade from the headlines.
Apparently, it is a more difficult issue to resolve than the traffic problem!

F You Jack Weiss, you arrogant slime.
Not gonna attend City Council?
Not gonna be City Attorney!

What happened with the public records, the guy (sorry can't remember the name) sued Weiss to get released? I know Weiss was beyond the 10-day window for turning them over? Can anyone shed any light on this? I didn't see the guy at City Council for the last couple of meetings.

Whenever I see the words "Wacko" or "Jacko" I immediately think the story is about either Walter Moore or Michael Jackson (the weird one, not the talk radio dude).
I'll have to remember the two in conjunction = Jackass Weiss.

I live in Weiss' district. He never replies to phone calls, emails or even faxes. I'm talking polite, sane communications. He'll do the same if he becomes the DA. He'd be worse than Rocky, if that's possible.

Message to Weiss: IF you are doing the right thing, great, don't expect headlines. If all you want are headlines , don't beg,it's pathetic.

I think that Carmen "Nuch" Trutanich needs to be the next LA City Attorney.
He is honest, hard working and has real experience prosecuting gang members.
AND the best part is he isn't art of the corrupt political machine.

I have been following LA City politics for decades and I cannot remember any City Council person as arrogant and ineffective as Mr. Weiss.
It would be a shame if the citizens of Los Angeles vote him in as the next City Attorney.

Weiss wants to be City Attorney for Los Angeles.....He is a big part of the problem in LA politics and should not given the opportunity to further his record of not caring about the citizens of Los Angeles.
Trutanich is the right person who can restore honor to the City Attorney's Office.
He can and will serve all the citizens of Los Angeles
