Monica Garcia Already Announces She's Running For Re-election in '09 At Fancy, Expensive Fund-Raising Kick-Off This Evening

Current LAUSD School Board President Monica Garcia announced she is running for school board again in '09, and apparently there is a big rush to start raising money as the incumbent President already!

Homegirl Cafe (part of Homeboy Industries) was the location this evening for a fancy and expensive as hell fund-raiser ($10,000 top-tier).

Zuma Dogg just took a stoll through the parking lot (without the attention-getting hat and glasses) and noticed a lot of people in really fancy clothes getting out of Mercedeses, Lexuses, BMWs, Volvos, nice SUVs.)

Peeking in through the window, cause I was a few grand short for a ticket, I saw CM Huizar introduced President Garcia as she addressed the crowd.

ZD also saw LAUSD Super-Superintendent David Brewer, Former LAUSD Board President and current Green Dot Charter Advisor David Tokofsky and Huizar staffer Henry Cassas walking into the reception.

The flyer I picked up in the parking lot says, "Please make all checks payable to: Friends of Monica Garcia 2009. AND UNDERLINED IT SAYS, "Contributions are not tax deductable for income tax purposes." (See above flyer)

Hmmmmmm! I wonder if she would be able to use this money then for some other election she may suddenly decide to run for? Like CD 14 CM chair when CD 14 CM Jose Huizar runs for Fabio "Nucklehead" Nunez's seat? (Nunez is termed-out, although he is pushing term-extensions for Assemblymembers, which would allow the lavish and investigated spender to run for one more term in the '08 elections.)

But ZD feels Nunez' backers have already left him and will be backing CM Jose "Weezy" Huizar for Assembly, whether Nucklehead gets term-extensions, or not.

So do any savvy legal experts know if Monica could use the money raised tonight to run for Weezy's CM seat? (I don't think Amy Cooper leaving Huizar's office to work for Monica could be a factor, either.)

Peering in windows,

Picking flyers off the ground,

Wishing you'd been offered some of those fancy foods and libations,

(Monica could have given you hers and worked on her diet and charity at the same time)

And getting this post in within hours. What on EARTH drives you?

Homeboy Industries is not in Lincoln Heights, it is in Chinatown - on the same block that the Chinatown Metro station is on.

It's only a stones throw from the County Jail, very fitting.

The whole LAUSD is a mess no matter what they do. Daily News published report that it's bottom 11 of 11 big city school districts, despite all the wasted money and effort. We have the most Hispanics, too, coincidence. DN says the thing is just ungovernable in its assessment of Brewer's first year, let it die.

The LAT is more generous, but an Op Ed yesterday says its editors found Brewer too unfocused: some good ideas, but he wants to provide all sorts of (ridiculously expensive) social services to the kids too, so they can get to school to learn. LAT thinks he basically want to make up for their own families and poverty. Just what we need right now, more gigantic government programs. Just shows Brewer thinks these kids are hopeless otherwise.

Since L A has almost no middle class kids in LAUSD other than maybe a small handful in pockets, all this effort and money should go to the city as a whole. Instead of squeezing blood from a stone in more taxes from the shrinking middle and tiny upper class, they need to figure out how to generate more business and revenue: attract retail and business to poor areas.

that's Brewer's only good idea: to somehow pay for all his grand dreams by outside investment. (But he has to give companies a benefit, they're not stupid.)

At a minimum, make each HD which brings all those Mexicans into the area, pay for the local schools. If they don't like it, they won't fight to come, case closed. Maybe Wendy can hit them up in S-T like Janice tried and failed to do in her district. They envision a huge captive customer base in S-T, so they may just do it. If they don't no HD and everyone is happy.

By the way, Huizar take on Fabian?

Anybody who thinks this will happen is smoking some bad shit.

Huizar can't shine Fabian's shoes.

One is a first term City Councilmember who owes his seat to Mayor Villaraigosa, and the other is the Mayor's long time ally and the second most powerful politician in the State of California.

Beam me up, Scotty.

Wonder if the reason why Homeboy hasn't been audited is because of BS crap like this. Huizar is still in diapers and can't even take care of his district let alone run for something else.

She can't use it for a council race if she is putting it a committee for school board. City law forbids use of money raised for a different office.

ZUMA DOH-ogg.

Boy, you have just GOT to stop listening to the Alvin "DOH" Parra's of CD14 about Huizar's political career.

Those major-league losers only have an EAR to the ground about what's REALLY happening here . . . when someone runs them over in a truck.

The people in CD14 dont like Nunez, Villareagosa, Huizar and any other of the Mexican Political Maffia.

We didnt vote for Pacheco, we voted against Villa. We didnt vote for Pacheco, we voted against Huizar. We didnt vote for Parra, we voted against the mexican machine in which Huizar believes he will be in the Assembly. That was said five years ago. We will vote for anyone NOT ASSOCCIATED WITH THE MEXICAN MAFFIA; Allatore, Villarriagosa, Huizar, and any "up and coming" politician who wants to begin their career in CD14 that expouses the same things as any of the Mexican Maffia clan.

Let the Mexican Maffia try to move to another CD and see what happens?

Hundreds of kids are dropping out, gang violence is still the same in CD14, illegal vendors control the streets on the Eastside in Huizar's area, health care clinics are closing cause of illegals and the fat pig Monica Garcia and the idiots who put her there HAVE DONE NOTHING FOR LATINOS EXCEPT HAVE THIS SELF CONGRATULATORY BULLSHIT DINNER AT THE MOST CORRUPT NON PROFIT IN THE CITY HOMEBOY. Father G panders to gangbangers and was thrown out of the catholic church. He is as crooked as the criminals he professes to teach to stay out of trouble.

Father boyle has terminal cancer and some people swear by him. He isn't profiting personally from his work.

Other gang programs are often corrupt and Laura Chick must be allowed to do her audit of them to use the money we're already spending on gangbangers more wisely. We don't need Janice Hahn hitting up homeowners for another unfair tax on us for her gang program, which she hasn't even figured out, she just says, give me the money and I'll find a way to spend it. I'm sure she will.

9:54 = Mexican Mafioso.

American ME was on cable last night, with Edward James Olmos. Powerful, scary and based on a true story. HE was harassed, threatened with his life, for exposing the truth. Many, many proofs since then. Only a Mafia member who say "prove it" as a threat

But now, with the thug gangsters like MS coming up from El Salvador, who have even less code of honor than the old Mexican mafia and are even more brutal, things are worse. They're all sociopaths, no limits.
