Happy Sunday Evening
As you can see, we've rolled out our brand new template on a soft rollout, grand opening tomorrow morning (a few more little tweaks). Of course this masterpiece would not be possible without the amazing talents of AntonioWatch who designed the entire new look for the blog. What do you think?

No, it looks like a pharmaceutical ad for prostrate medicine.

Not bad, gents.
But remember, folks came here for the content:
(1) You are an early source of so many scoops; they appear here much quicker than any newspaper.
(2) You take crappy elected officials to task. "Sometimes they forget the Golden Rule and begin ruling for those with the gold."
People do not come here for the graphics, or for that matter, for Zuma Dogg's rants.
No, they come here IN SPITE OF those features.
At any rate, we need some good content. How about:
-Yvonne Burke breaking South LA's heart.
-The County Sups as a-hole petty despots. Drivers? (Did you know on Grand Avenue, on days of Sup. meetings, special "County Police" (not Sheriffs - a special dept!) block traffic to that the Sups don't have to wait for one car when pulling out of their building?
-Alatorre, Pacheco, Huizar ripping off $800,000 in housing contracts.
-Fabian making tons of $ off his sweetheart contracts.
-A general piece on lack of public outrage. We live in a city where the Speaker of the Assembly is selling our souls for gaming money, where contract fraud is as bad as New Jersey, where our Mayor lacks any integrity, where our City Attorney lacks any judgment, where our County Supervisors are empty demagogues.
Why aren't people taking to the streets with pitchforks and torches?
Mayor Sam, please light one.

It's a start. You might bump up the contrast level between your bg and your post entry text color.
Much smarter layout. More efficient use of your real estate.
Welcome to to 2007.

clinically sterile, bump up the mocha, center the posts, keep the previous post column on the left side, dump the Yorty pencil sketch.

The old one was easier to read. Maybe it's the contrast thing. The best improvement would be to limit Zuma Dogg's self-promotional postings and ramblings to a paragraph with a link to read the rest for those have the time and desire to wade through it.

Now get rid of the anti home depot astroturfers

When is pedophile protector Mahony going to resign, and when will wimp Cooley stop protecting him.
BTW, site redesign not bad if you can read with sunglasses.

Nice! Now just post conservative stuff and kick the libs out of here!
Joe B has to go, Zuma should go as well! Let's make this an all American blog!

Tell ZD to limit his TITLES to two lines. His long headlines always overlap the first comment, usually making it unreadable. THANKS ZD!

I had to adjust the brightness on my monitor when reading this blog. The white is too white and bright, pick another color palette which is not so bright, I already have a nice brown skin tone and don't need a tan.
Why do you allow all those gay comments? They remind me of junior high school with a bunch of 13 year olds.

I was a little blog crazy this weekend as I was posting new stuff on my new executive strategy blog...and slow news weekends are a good time for me to post this stuff for the record and archives, and the weekend is a good time to read that kind of stuff.
Meanwhile, it doesn't play as well during the week, so it'll be back coverage of local issues on monday and just put some links at the bottom of the threads, or whatever.
And we'll see if i can tighten my posts for the new look of the blog.

I can see from the very first comment on your blog, that your closet homosexual admirer is becoming more obsessed with you.
He can be the lead character in the remake of the thriller movie "Fatal GAY Attraction".
Zumma I hear you enjoy publicity, well the movie will make you famous or maybe infamous.

Congrats to Mayor Sam and Antonio Watch! Great work!

Looks great - very professional and clean. Nice to see all the random ads gone from the sidebar.
And thanks for adding Metroblogging to the roll!

Well, I am sure that was a lot of work ... it looks good. But I agree with someone else up there, the contrast is a little low and the type is a little small. It is kind of bright which makes the light type hard to read. This is very challenging in the longer posts. Also, I agree that the comments access at the bottom is even harder to see and locate ... that is what I think is one of the problems over at Flaps blog ... he frequently has good items, worthy of some comments, but it is damn hard to find his comments access which is also tiny and light and lost in the middle of a lot of stuff...

Sorry guys...I know how much work you put into it....but it's too anemic and colorless. Needs MORE CONTRAST! It's much harder to read than before!!!
Do you have to put the ads at the top??? It really detracts from the old hard-hitting content.
Would really appreciate more color and contrast!
Thanks!

Good job Mayor Sam. What a nice site and very professional looking. I'm getting older so if you can make the words a little darker that will help. LIke others stated I think its the contract.
But overall and beautiful look.

If they don't like your tip jar, maybe you should change it to a large brandy snifter....

"but it's too anemic and colorless. Needs MORE CONTRAST! It's much harder to read than before" contrast
I dont take to change easily, but if "more contrast" is my biggest complain I am happy.
Thank you for trying to make the world better.

1:06 PM ANTONIO WATCH
It is easier to read ... with regard to the comments - maybe if you just put the word "comments" in all caps, maybe bold, would make it more visible...

The layout is okay -- but just "okay" -- the column too condensed and all pushed over on the left hand side making one have to read down a loooooooong column. The layout should be spread out across the page.
Also, too white and bright for the background. The print needs to be darker black and the captions above each article should be more in a font using more of a block-style print (rather than the more distracting and less easily read larger flourished writing with font you use now) that should be in a color -- like maybe dark green or blue -- so it sets each separate section out clearly.
I think the blog is great and fun but it does need to darken the print, move the column to the center rather than all crammed up on the left hand side, and get rid of the large flourish script that describes each new subject.
