Rodriguez Endorsed by LA Chamber

The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce voted to endorse Monica Rodriguez's campaign for Los Angeles City Council 7th District seat. Rodriguez's campaign said "The endorsement highlights the broad base of support Monica's Campaign has earned from the Los Angeles business community."

"Monica's commitment to creating jobs and growing our economy will improve the quality of life for all Angelenos, especially working families," said Chamber President & CEO Gary Toebben. "We believe in her long-term commitment to the future of L.A."

Founded in 1888, the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce represents over 1500 businesses throughout the greater LA area. It is the largest business organization in Southern California.

The former aide to former Mayor Richard Riordan and former School Board President Caprice Young has also received endorsements from Riordan, Los Angeles Community College Trustee Georgia Mercer, former Assemblymember Richard Katz, former Assemblymember Julie Bornstein, and the National Women's Political Caucus San Fernando Valley.

SHE IS STILL GOING TO LOSE

Sounds great on paper, but she still has no real support base where it matters most; in the community. Voters have no idea who she is or what she's about. Everyone knows the residents don't want Alarcon back in the council. Oscar Mendoza, has managed to muster plenty of strong local support from community leaders. He was there for all of us when we needed a voice, to ensure the valley recieved its fare share of resources during the Valley Secession movement. Apparently there is a big event being coordinated by dozens of teens in support of Oscar Mendoza this weekend. Looks like this one is over... Councilman Elect Oscar Mendoza, prepare your future staff, because you will be sworn in to office very soon.

Youth? What can they do for him, if they can't even stay in school, and they can't vote?

Concentrate on the voters, like the rest of us.

Riordan, Shallman, LA Chamber, with friends like these....

We may not know much about Monica, but we sure know alot about the antics and back room deals of the folks who pull her strings.

AB1381, Proposition R, Venture capitalist who have ighnored the State Constitution twice in an attempt to fill their pockets at the expense of the people.

Oscar has come along way and has surrounded himself with proven community leaders he is will to listen to. His staff members will be seasoned community advocates and not just young political paybacks.

Richard is the shoe in on paper, but word on the street indicates the facts are not worth the paper the shoe is printed on.

Here's the deal...the kind of endorsements Monica is getting are the kind that are going to bring her some major dough. Combined with the fact that no one not even Antonio wants Richard back that starts to put Monica in the catbird seat. Everyone knows that if Monica has the cash to fund a ground and mail operation she is in a very good position to challenge the Alarcon machine. Oscar is an idiot. And all those updwardly mobile Hispanic soccer moms which are plentiful and growing in Sylmar, Mission Hills, etc. are going to look at Monica as a peer and say "no" to old, vain, haggard, philandering machismo Richard who reminds all of them of every asshole boyfriend they ever had.

"if Monica gets the cash"

Lets see, while Monica is waiting to get the cash, Oscar just had 25 billboards put up throughout the 7th District. This with the hundereds of lawn signs and a ground game which has been out for weeks, rain or shine, is now sending alarm bells ringing down town. Who the hell is this guy and why are folks like David Hernandez supporting him?

Happy Ground Hog Day!

Because Oscar is male and a Republican.

Oscar id not a republican.

Besides, the republicans are going for Monica, just ask Tricky Dick Riordan and his opening act, David Flemming.

Venture Capitalist...

Now what was it that Dick called that little girl which prompted his stepping down from the education committee? Dirty little ???

Not all the soccer moms are in Rodriguezes corner. There's something about the pearls and the staged photos that just don't ring true. A huge chunk of her endorsements seem to come from people that are from areas that can't vote for her.

To Mr. Dion Gazzaruso,

Stop posting on this blog. You are as bad as oscar. No one is scared of your yard signs or your ability to get ripped off by REP consultants. Please stop spending your money on stupid shit. Oscar can hang out in Parks passing out flyers all day, but the fact that you already spend $30,000 (most of which Oscar gave himself) is pathedic. Please stop posting on this blog. If Oscar ever gets a thread, you can return. But don't try to get involved in a race between alarcon and rodriguez. Its just not your place. Is Oscar even on the ballot?

MONICA IS FAKE during High School she always tried to be in the lime light and was always rejected by her peers. Once again, she will be rejected by the Voters along with her outside endorsements that are out of touch with the constituents in the 7th district. She has minimal support because her daddy was a firefighter not because she earned it on her own, like the rest of the people from the Northeast Valley.

30k is chump change since you are concerned. We do not have to prostitute ourselves for money like the rest of you do. (Monica & Richard for Sale to the highest bidder). Richard needs Viagra and Monica needs Implants to satisfy those who like to purchase them, for sale at 5% discount.

Wasn't Monica Class President at San Fernando HS? Not really outright rejection.

What was Oscar in High School? Cause I heard he has pretty much been a fat son of a roofer all his life.

I must admit that some of these comments are rather amusing and obvious... the comments submitted by the Oscar Mendoza Team that Ms Rodriguez has no support base has demonstrated and validated just the opposite because they have obviously demonstrated she is a threat to their campaign because they and the other candidate Mr. Alarcon keep attacking her...if she really had no hope or any support to worry about she wouldn't be even worth mentioning.

I was undecided ( as many others are )but thanks to your efforts I have looked further into this young lady and have discovered that she really does have a rather broad support base and compared to the other candidates has something to say and by the sound of what she has to say sounds like a committed person that actually has convictions.

As many others that live in this area its rather refreshing to know that there are still people that are committed.

This community deserves more so it deserves our effort to look into these candidates that seek our support..and then to hold them accountable. I hear there is going to be a forum sometime this week to hear them out...should be interesting

It is a shame that Monica's people are running around trying to trash Richard as slease. Propping up Oscar to take votes from Richard to get into a runoff is an old trick. Watch out what you ask for girl as it sometimes is not what you get and you can end up killing a good run for office as being merely a wannabe trash talker with enemies with long memories.

Where has Monica Being all this time, I have never seen her in community meetings, events, fundraisers, and now she wants to run for office? (Look at Sylmar it’s a mess, including the rest of the district-I never hear of you). Now, you want to represent us.
As for Alarcon, he needs to respect the Voters (he just got elected to the assembly couple months), and respect the tax payers, if elected he will cost all of us a lot of money.
And Oscar, he did a great job in succession, (5000 votes) is he getting any key endorsements? Who is behind him, who is running his camping $$$ =). Well I guess he stood for something in our community, during sucession-brave man, wasn’t Alarcon for succession then he change his mind or the Unions changed his mind. I think he wants to a mayor-shame on Richie.
