Happy Friday

I was out a little late picking up my new Ford Explorer (yes an American SUV for the masses!) whilst Mayor Frank is continuing to have wind related DSL troubles. Hence, posting for today will be light until later on. But its getaway day, Mayor V will shortly return home from the Conference of Mayors where he was appointed to head up a task force on poverty.

Speaking of computer issues, have any of you noticed Adelphia's cable modem service to get even crappier than normal? Since they have lost their franchise and are being taken over by Time Warner, I assume they're just doing the minimum to keep the lights on.

Consider the rest of this post open thread for you for today. Blog away dum dums.

Congratulations on a fine choice of vehicle, and for buying American. Now go to a shelter and adopt two or three big dogs to fill up that truck.

Have you no shame?
Who would be caught driving a mini-van?!
Are you trying to turn Mayor Sam into a soccer mom?!

Too bad your purchase came too late to save 1000's of union jobs (yuck, yuck, yuck).

You're right, AV is going to run for Governor. I overhead my boss talking about it.

Mayor Hahn was elected by all of those to BE THEIR Mayor of Mayors, not just some commission on poverty.

Mayor of Mayors? Sounds like a title in a parade, with absolutely no meaning or relevance whatsoever. Reminds me of Hahn's tenure in fact; Indeed a good choice.

So Rocky "Rockstar" Delgadillo is suing a video game maker called Rockstar on the very day that all the major LA papers reveal his corrupt contracting practices. Is he trying to wag the dog here?

Next up:
Let's see who got all that money ($163 million) and let's see who (along with their friends, relatives and associates) is paying for Rocky's doomed run for attorney general. Rocky talks about being the new face of the Democratic party, but in reality he's an old school pay to play guy.

Brown is kicking his arse in the polls. In fact, Rocky's lost a few points since he announced and the papers took a sniff at his operation. "President Delgadillo" indeed.

Tony the Liar will run for governor and lose but he'll get Rocky elected AG in the process, just like 2001.

Rocky - tall, smart, athletic star

Tony - short, dumb and a spaz

go figure.

anonymous @ 7:06 (AKA Ann D'Amato)

You are the only person besides Michelle (and that's even questionable) that thinks Rockard is a "tall, smart, athletic star." The rest of us will give him tall but that's about it. Rocky needs to learn that if he is going to be an old school play to pay politician that he needs to be a little smarter about not making it so obvious. He's a fraud.

Your boss, or others may be talking about Antonio running for Governor, but guess what, HE isn't talking or thinking about it.

Antonio LOVES being Mayor of Los Angeles. Truly, it is his dream job.

Will he run for Governor? Most assuredly, or maybe Senator, maybe even Vice President or President, but not now. Not until he has accomplished at least some of the things he needs to do here before running for the next office.

Rememember, the primary is just @130 days, plus or minus, from now. How could he raise the $20+ Million to compete with Westly and Angelides? Let alone beat a well funded Arnold in the general in November?

Nope, it is way too late for this one, but keep it up, he may start reading this blog again, he loves it so much when you suggest it and talk about it.

Nope, sorry you hopeful CD 14ers, no such luck for you. It's gonna be a long six years or so, pobracitos.

Had an email blast from Huizar touting Monica Garcia's candidacy and the endorsement by Chick. You are guys are doing the correct thing by not putting Monica's picture on anything. The more voters see her the less likely her chances of winning.

Before you spend a bunch of money on "European quality," here's something to consider: I won a "Lemon Law" case involving a $40K+ German SUV in November.

Hi Walter,

Can you provide some info as to what make and model you had problems with? I'm looking to buy an SUV and I'm looking at all makers for options. Thanks!

Well, I have a Cadillac Escalade (ESV), and I love it. I intend to drive it until it drops dead.

The kids live it with the backseat DVD entertainment system, too.

Check it out.

Steve Hymon writes today that Antonio will indeed run and not go for a 2nd term. He wants to take control of schools.

It was a VW Touareg, V-8, which is essentially the same thing as a Porsche Cayenne. Its defects included a charming little quirk known as the "death lag:" you step on the accelerator, and nothing happens. It really made left turns exciting! That, plus it had some kind of Republican thing going: it always pulled to the right, even after alignments. We now have a Ford Explorer; had three of them before, never had any trouble with them. I've also had Toyotas, which never had any problems. Had a lemon BMW, but that was in 1988....

Steve Hymon better get a new gig.

He is so off base on this one.

Antonio is not running for Governor in 2006.

Bet the farm on it.

P.S. Ford has a great deal on the Explorer XLT now: for $2000 down, and $275 per month, you can lease it for 24 months. But beware: the model they depict in the ads for same is NOT the XLT, but is instead the "Eddie Bauer" edition, which is nicer and, of course, costs more.

Why do you need to call out Ann and Michelle? IF it were either of them, they would have posted under their own names.

Forget Rocky and his "problems".

Just look at the human side of this blog that is read by a few city hall employees, activists and reporters. Too small of a reader base (and I'm totally guessing) to call out an anonymous poster who preferred to remain anonymous. Especially when you didn't have the balls to state your own name and posted their names anonymously.

Oh yeah Walter, and I drive a mini van, but I'm the furthest thing from a soccer mom there is. I'm a good mom, but I'm not a soccer mom. But that vehicle is convenient, I must say.

I also have a motorcycle license, but haven't used that since I moved here.

People in Los Angeles are too concerned with their choice of vehicles. I have bigger things to worry about.

Antonio has EVERY intention of running for governor. Not now against Westly or Angelides, but the next election will be his.

Hello!!! That election is four years from this November. Antonio will have been re-elected Mayor by then.

I agree, then he will be looking at Governor and Senator, but, especially if there is no incumbent, Governor.

Come on now, its obvious.
AV will run in 2010. Assuming Arnold wins in 06. And AV will win in 2010.

Rocky? Dont really see any place for him to go. he will get killed this year, he wont be a 'fresh' face. And he cant run on his record, so he may be done. A case of too much ambition, too soon. he seems like a good guy . if he just would have focused on hos job instead of his careeer, he'd be in alot better shape.
But boy, his staff, mainly Ann and Jennifer, are really terrible to deal with. Its hard to think of any more disliked staffers in the city!
