Can animal activists be tamed?

Well, the Daily News asks just that question today. The answer:

For now, it is all wining and dining, private meetings with top city
officials and elegant soirees with local activists for Edward Boks.

But perhaps sooner than he would like, the 54-year-old Boks will be thrust into the heart of a high-profile job, perennially controversial, that will greatly test him despite his years of experience.

Welcome to the kitchen.

Finally, LA has a great General Manager, Commission, Mayor, idea and money guy Gary Michelson and animal community all at the same time. This has never happened before. The planets are all aligned for some wonderful things to happen in LA. 2006 will be the year that LA Animal Services finally starts down the path to no-kill. Thanks to everyone who helped get us here.

Threaten the life of certain general managers, picket the old Mayors home and threaten to picket the new mayor and some wonderful things happen in LA. 2006 will be the year that LA Animal Services finally starts down the path to no-kill - that is animals, of course.

Just kill these damn animals or eat them. It's no big deal.

So it's okay for the Union to threaten the commissioners, animal people and others but it's not okay for ALF to threaten back? You need to admit that they're both wrong.

Also, ADL is not ALF. ADL pickets and protests legally. ALF commits acts of vandalism and such. The City just got sued for stating that ADL committed crimes when they did not, ALF did.

If you only knew how many dogs and cats you've eaten in your lives.

They are tasty, much like chicken.

I've lived in LA my entire life. I've personally met the last four General Managers. I've met the heads of other shelter systems as well. I can tell you that Ed Boks is by far the best that LA has ever seen. He has a proven track record. None of the others had any real track record. Stuckey and Greenwalt had no track records at all. I've persnally met Boks. He is also a strong leader, good manager and truly cares about animals and people. With the help of Gary Michelson, Boks will get LA Animal Services on the track toward no-kill/lo-kill, call it what you like.

If you "peta no!" really dislike animal lovers, animals, vegans and no-kill/lo-kill ideas, perhaps you are in the wrong job.

Yeah what a wonderful Mayor. He's kind to animals while he proudly abuses us, his employees. He comes up with this baloney about IBEW's contract negotiated by the previous Mayor when we all know for a fact that the previous Mayor offered to do whatever Antonio wanted to do on the DWP contract during transition. Sounds like an honest guy, huh? Now he's trying to tell me and my fellow EAA employees that he's going to be fiscally responsible with us after giving away the farm to his long time personal friend for employees that were already making 30% more than I was BEFORE this "humane" Mayor gave them a new contract. Yeah, he's nice to animals he just doesn't believe in equality for humans.

Who cares about her cleavage or lips? She has spackling compound on her face instead of make up.

I hope she doesn't use make up that is tested on animals!

Why is this about what she looks like. What about Old Baldie?. Quoting the Bible? GEE. I'm impressed. Dude, wouldn't you be happier reading your bible and rocking on a porch in alabama? Stuckey was wrong but isn't Old Baldie wronger? Reality check This isn't Kansas.

Ed Boks has a proven bad track record. And why are you posting your photo? In my opinoion you're not very cute and it won't work to convince anyone that Ed Boks is as great as you say. Go find a photo of Pamela Anderson or someone really pretty.
