Oh I forgot you have to look at the South LA Farmer's web site
southlafarmers.com

Someone is benefiting from all this attention and trust me its not the farmers. They are being exploited by so many outsiders including the black panthers, brown berets and all the radicals that are still living in the 60's.

What's the deal with the South LA Farmers? I feel for them, but even my liberal ass thinks they need to let it go.

I'm all for the warehouses if it means new taxes will be generated without raising the taxes on everybody else.

I saw some representatives from this group try to hijack a public meeting on a completely different issue a couple of months ago. Personally, I thought someone was pimping the farmers.

They are pimping the farmers for their own personal agendas. These poor farmers don't speak English and the black panthers and Brown Berets are telling them to resort to violence and don't do what police officers tell them when they go in to evict. Sadly, they are not informing them that if they get arrested for "trespassing" they will take their kids away from them. Do you think those idiots will bail these poor farmers out? Hell no.

Monica who? Please don't say Huizar's former chief. She's not electable. C'mon. We already have one Gloria Molina.

I think we need a professional, someone who has held a real job. Not some political novice.

Let's dig deep here folks because the District needs a reformer, not a re-tread.

My guess is Jose is pushing her to run to hide all the stupid crap he did on the Board and all the other crap he failed to do (like improving Roosevelt). She's loyal, but not the sort of person I want representing my kids on the Board.

What a cast of characters. If I were AV, I wouldn't support any of these nit-wits. And, please, Alvin is not running. That's the worst and most factually incorrect rumor of the day.

We should--every one of us--remain aloof, in heart and in mind, in words and in deeds, from the political affairs and disputes of the Nations and of Governments. Baha'is should be very careful in their public utterance not to mention any political figures...either side with them or denounce them. We should keep ourselves away from such thoughts. Otherwise they will involve the friends in political matters, which is definitely dangerous for the Cause. We should have no political connection with any of the parties. Baha'is are in no way allowed to enter into political affairs under any pretense of excuse; since such an action brings about disastrous results and ends in hurting the Cause of God and its intimate friends.

Do Campaign Contributions Corrupt Politics?

The most commonly stated purpose of campaign reform is to limit the corrupting influence of money in politics. It has become conventional wisdom that campaign contributions are bribes and that elective offices are for sale to the highest bidder. Consequently, many Americans are willing to sacrifice some freedom of speech or association in order to restore integrity to our democratic system. However, the courts have consistently stymied the most ambitious attempts at regulating campaign finance. In response, some reformers have even proposed amending the Constitution to permit more stringent regulation of political activity. To be sure, no one is eager to police political speech, but it is understood to be a necessary evil.

Would Monica want the seat or does she prefer to stay in the background at the city council level. Where would she work while at the board?

Others running: Mary Lou Calanche, who ran against David Tokofsky and came in 3rd or 4th place last go round; Anna Cubas, former deputy to Jose Huizar and Alex Padilla.

I dont think either of them can generate the support or cash needed.

Why not get a go getter from the district?

A person who is not politically influenced or attached to conflicts of interest.

A candidate that posseses the passion to do good.

Why all these closet hippies who care about buying expensive cars on taxpayers money, instead have somoone who cares.

10:18 - YOU ARE SO FULL OF SHIT IT'S UNBELIEVABLE! They'll have their kids taken away if they're arrested? Since when are children removed from parental custody for an non-felony arrest? Also, if there are two parents and one is arrested, the child stays with the other parent. Parents can also have their kids stay with a relative.

It sounds more like you're on a campaign of misinformation and fear tactics.

We won't know the candidates until December 12 (yes, la Virgen). On that date, they have to inform the District they are running.

I'd be surprised if Monica ran.

1:05 you're a moron. I heard today South LA Farmers is having a laywer train them to advise them what will happen if they are arrested for trespassing. They are telling them that as has been the case these farmers have their kids with them at all times. If they are trespassing with the kids and both parents are arrested the authorities WILL TAKE THE KIDS.
