I want to ask Jose supporters why Crenshaw high lost its accrediation under his watch, the first high school in 30 yrs to do so. They knew for 2 yrs they were in trouble.

You forgot this one.
Daily News..Latinos now bigger part of crowd.
Los Angeles Unified has some of the largest high schools in the nation, with as many as 5,500 students on some campuses, compared with a national average of 750. The school district also has an alarmingly high dropout rate, estimated at around 33 percent. "Large high schools, particularly in terms of dropout rates and student achievement gains, are deleterious for educational outcomes," Fry said, explaining that the optimal size for a high school ranges from 600 to 900 students.

"What we see is well over half of the Hispanic public high school students are in schools with more than 1,800 students ... and this itself, research suggests, will worsen their outcomes."

County Campaign Law Unenforceable, D.A. Says
By Jeffrey L. Rabin, Times Staff Writer

Los Angeles County Dist. Atty. Steve Cooley has concluded that a law that limits political donations to top county officials has "fundamental flaws" and is "nearly impossible" to enforce.

In a letter to the county Board of Supervisors released Tuesday, Cooley recommended a series of changes to strengthen the voter-approved law so he can prosecute offenders.

The district attorney's recommendations sparked a sharp response Tuesday from Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, who expressed frustration that enforcement of the initiative, which he wrote, has proved so difficult.

The Times reported in September that nine years after voters approved the initiative, violations were going undiscovered and unpunished.

"It's ridiculous," Yaroslavsky said. "Every other jurisdiction that has a campaign finance law has an enforcement capability. If the district attorney can't do it, tell us who can," he said to County Counsel Ray Fortner.

Yaroslavsky was upset that neither Cooley nor a representative was at the Hall of Administration to discuss the issue. He told Fortner to get together with Cooley and come back in two weeks, if possible, with a specific proposal for how to enforce the law.

ONE DAMN DOG -- that's what the BIG "animal cruelty" press conference was about to appease the animal rights activists (and tell them WHY AV was breaking his promise). He always breaks them, but he ALWAYS has a good reason why.

Some gangbanger abused ONE DOG, and the threw the book at him.

MEANWHILE, the City of L.A. KILLED 11 ANIMALS in the time it took AV to hold his "make nice" press conference to appease the protesters.

This just isn't adding up, AV!

Animal Rights Activists,

It is time for all of us groups who support the rights of animals and their welfare to unite and fight the culprit. He made us a promise, we voted for him, and he broke that big promise. He should of told us from the beginning he couldn't deliver on his promises!

"L.A. Council questions bond issue for religious school
The Los Angeles City Council will vote on a $30 million deal to fund expansion at Loyola High School, which has enrolled the mayor's son.
By David Zahniser
Copley News Service

The Los Angeles City Council is weighing a proposal to help finance a major expansion of a private Jesuit school, despite a recent ruling from an appellate court questioning the legality of public financing for predominantly religious schools.

The council is scheduled to vote today on a plan to issue $30 million in tax-exempt bonds on behalf of Loyola High School, a Catholic parochial school on Venice Boulevard west of downtown Los Angeles that has enrolled the son of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa."

Issuing the tax-exempt bonds would cost the city nothing, while saving Loyola High School an estimated $8 million in interest payments. Still, the financial proposal has raised the hackles of the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California, which was once headed by Villaraigosa.

9:40 - As resident of Los Angeles, I'm pleased that our Mayor has decided to pay his respects to a heroine who helped change the course of American history, Rosa Parks. He's there representing our entire City.

Regardless of one's ethnic heritage, her personal sacrifice and bravery deserves everyone's respect. People are more free and our nation greater for her personal actions.

If you want to bash the Mayor, fine. But use another issue.

DAMN, where's that "All in the family" theme, first appoint them as commissioners, AV, THEN bail out their (PRIVATE) schools.

Archie read my mind. I was thinking exactly the same thing. What more control can he have out of an "out of control" issue. He left in order for him not to answer these questions about funding his son's private school with public funds.

OH, what a quandry. . . how to say, it's NOT "really" a RELIGIOUS school, while maintaining the lie that he PLACED his children in something other than LAUSD, ONLY so they would get RELIGIOUS training (NOT to escape L.A.'s lousy - thank you very much, Jose Huizar - public schools, that he loves and honors so much).

When lies collide, what is a mayor to do?

ROAD TRIP!!!!!

Lets see how long before some bright journo asks "was the bond situation TIED in any way to the kid being ACCEPTED at the school (which has a very long waiting list and high admittance standards), and his LEAP-FROGGING over many other applicants in line who just didn't happen to have a powerful daddy???

That's right anon. He did say he wanted his kids to attend other schools to gain religious instruction. Currently, touting Loyola as non religious is absurd!

Mayor like previous anon has posted, you took a quick road trip to absolution.

The reason Zev's campaign finance ordinance is unenforcable is because he wrote it that way -- on purpose (on the back of a napkin of course on his way back for a third world country).

This guy is unreal. Time to get rid of his worthless ass.
