LA Times...Mayor Visits Sacramento to Seek Security Funds

Calling Los Angeles "the most significant target of opportunity" for terrorists, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa made a lobbying trip to Sacramento on Monday.

Hey, Antonio you didn't have to go to Sacramento. Your buddies Tony Mohammed and the rest of the black activists are making "terrorists threats" against this city and police officers.

Jose Huizar: Please don’t support the proposed settlement with the LA Conservancy. Please stand firm and support improvements in the classroom and don’t succumb to taking the path of least resistance. Voters are watching you on this one.

From Today's LA Times: Apparently, district officials and the Conservancy have reached a tentative deal to end the conservancy's long legal battle to save the Ambassador Hotel. In exchange, the district would make a $4.9-million contribution to a nonprofit organization aimed at conserving historic school buildings in the district. The school district board is expected to vote on the proposed agreement today.

Glenn Gritzner, special assistant to Los Angeles Unified School District Supt. Roy Romer, said the district's contribution of $4.9 million to the conservancy fund was a small price to pay to bring the battle over the Ambassador to a close.

Nonetheless, Victor Viramontes, staff attorney for the Mexican American legal fund, expressed concern over the deal. "Getting these schools built is paramount," Viramontes said, "but we do not support spending more school construction dollars toward preservation."

Board members Mike Lansing and Jose Huizar said they would support the settlement.

The PPIC polls are ridiculous! They have these polls which the media takes as the WHOLE TRUTH and publish it as evidence without researching who is behind the PPIC.

They are all friends of Villaraigosa, Nunez, Padilla, etc... Cynthia Tellez one of the founders is Bob Hertzbergs wife. How biased is this shit!

Found this Awesome Post!
___________________________________

Setting aside for half a tick the obvious fact that the "I started 80 Neighborhood Watch organizations in CD14 last year," claim by Villaraigosa is continued evidence that our current mayor is unethical and untrustworthy...

CONSIDER for a moment the safety and security implications of this brazen falsehood:

People all over CD14 now assume they have neighborhood watches all around them and must be safer than they previously were. People who might have otherwise considered starting such an organization, now assume someone ELSE is on watch, because Villaraigosa TOLD THEM SO.

They can let down their guard, be less observant, and as a result become an EASIER TARGET, because there are now THOUSANDS more alert eyes watching the streets of the district (AV said so - it MUST be true!)

SO, by LYING to enhance his CV and account for massive amounts if personal time off the job the opast two years, our current mayor has now made CD14 LESS SAFE than when he took office. (AND, here, Chief Faker has knowingly played along with the lie, as if it was some kind of GAME to amuse himself on a slow blog weekend.)

For this alone, Villaraigosa deserves to be recalled and removed from office, just as much as anyone who lies about their fitness for any job, once their lack of true qualification and perfomance is discovered.

Words mean something; blatant lies like this threaten our safety!

Tony Muhammad and the NOI will never have their 15 minutes expire because white conservatives love to get incensed over guys like this. The media knows it and will milk you suckers for it. He has a guaranteed spotlight.

So the vigil for the murder victim was "staged" in the hopes that the police would come out and scuffle with the NOI?? Riiiight. And obviously, when dealing with “the blacks” the poor, helpless LAPD has only two options - beat or kill. Tony must have known that, and he must have made sure they beat him just enough to cause injury, just as he planned.

Of course NOI will have press conference, they have guaranteed airtime. Hell, nobody outside the community would've known about vigil if the "incident" didn't happen. It wouldn't be news to corporate media - just another dead black boy. What makes TM's viewpoints any more valid than any other blacks? Sure, in the media and conservatives' eyes, the 90% Chrisitan black community is just waiting for some Muslims to call them to action and working class, middle class, and upper class blacks look up to NOI. And now there’s that ever-popular “tension” in South LA because of what happened to good ol’ Tony M. who everybody knows and reveres. Riiiight.

BTW, the NOI does preach personal responsibility, but again why would the __ controlled media people want to portray NOI as anything approximating positive? They don't. The vigil, just as other vigils, forums, symposiums, sermons, etc. in South LA all the time, was addressing black-on-black violence. Fools need to realize that just because they don’t know about something or because something isn’t reported on TV, it doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. Duh.

Let the media stick to their tried-and-true reporting decisions so fools like those who post here can make their smug stereotypical generalizations about "the blacks" and “playing the race card” (which of course is never claimed if the dealer is white). The same fools who start whining about reverse racism as soon as anyone even says the word "white". Typical. And don’t complain when the media feed you news that you eat right up. You’re making Tony Muhammad a star. Get used to him.

Former Speaker Antonio Villaraigosa estimates he’s
been back to Sacramento four or five times since he left
the Assembly five years ago. But his visit on Monday,
which included his first public appearance since he was
inaugurated as mayor of LA, must have felt like that of a
returning hero as he was surrounded by former colleagues
and friends for more than 90 minutes of hugs and
handshakes at a reception in the Capitol’s second floor
rotunda. “This feels good,” Villaraigosa said after shaking
hands and sharing a laugh with Treasurer Phil Angelides.
Wearing a dark blue suit and light pink tie, Villaraigosa
sipped from a plastic water bottle and was greeted by a
steady stream of fellow Democrats – Sens. Jackie Speier
and Gil Cedillo, Asms. Mark Ridley-Thomas and Sally
Lieber among them. “There are few things I have done in
my life that have given me as much satisfaction and
gratitude as serving in the state assembly,” Villaraigosa
said and then explained that he had come to Sacramento
“as a supplicant” to ask for help in establishing commuter
lanes for the 405 Freeway . After about an hour, current
Speaker Fabian Núñez emerged from his office and the
two LA Democrats wrapped their arms around each other
and laughed. “Speaker of the Assembly, I thought you
forgot about me,” Villaraigosa said grinning. “Never,
never, never,” Núñez responded. Among others who
greeted the new mayor were several teen-age members of
the US Forest Service’s program Generation Green and
seven-year-old Adrian Espinoza, son of Univision
reporter Pablo Espinoza, who said to Villaraigosa , “I
heard you’re the boss of LA.” Villaraigosa responded:
“You’re right.”

From Karen Hanretty, Communications Director for the
CA GOP – On the same day that Assemblywoman Cindy
Montanez, a junior member of the Latino Caucus, was
holding a press conference to protect the public’s trust in
government from “abuse and the perception of abuse,”
(according to her press release dated Aug. 29, 2005) her
colleagues inside the Capitol building were making
photocopies of the Legislative Latino Caucus “2005
Election Strategy” memo to defeat Gov.
Schwarzenegger’s initiatives on Nov. 8. That’s right,
while Ms. Montanez passed around a press release
lecturing everyone on the finer points of ensuring “that
elected officials perform their duties in an impartial
manner,” the Legislative Latino Caucus was using
government property to photocopy a campaign memo
printed on government letterhead and probably written on the taxpayers’ dime. We know, because whoever made
the copies had a paper jam and left a crumpled up copy
wedged in between the wheels of the machine. That
crumpled up copy was later rescued and delivered to us
after work. The “2005 Election Strategy” memo indicates
that the Legislative Latino Caucus intends to spend $2.7
million on phone banking, pre-recorded phone messages
and get out the vote efforts targeted at Latino voters now
through the Nov 8 election. Surely, if Ms. Montanez is
serious about ensuring the public’s trust, she will
immediately request an investigation into the inappropriate
use of government property by the Legislative Latino
Caucus for political campaigning. That is, of course,
unless she was just playing her own political game on
state time at the taxpayers’ expense with her cute little
press conference. Contact: Hanretty 448 9496.

Yes, great post 8:48 a.m.

At a time when the "district security" color bar should have been going from orange to "red" (with increased homicides during Villaraigosa's term), CD14's outgoing councilmember was telling people "I've made things better (not worse), consider yourself on YELLOW alert now."

We'll never know what hits us!
