Flushed!

I don't have a whole lot to say, now that I have recovered from my election celebrating, I guess it would be a bit untoward to gloat that my goal was achieved. But I have to say that I am pleased that one of the most useless mayors (to date) in the City of Los Angeles has been vanquished and sent home packing to San Pedro. (Okay, maybe that is gloating).

To all the Hahnistas who lived day and night on my blog, you should have been walking precincts and making phone calls. What the hell do you think Tony Villar's troops were doing.

Jim "Poopy" Hahn, you should have known better. You were running my playbook from 1969 in 2001 and yea it worked for you. Then you re-ran my 1973 campaign this year and you got your ass handed to you just like I did. Christ, doesn't anyone learn?

To Chief Parker who stood tall despite multiple attacks, kudos for your fine work.

To MEAT and Sacramento Nighties - thanks for being worthy adversaries and giving us some real entertainment!

And finally to a one Antonio Villaraigosa nee Tony Villar - it's all uphill from here. Yes, we supported you, but we'll be watching you every step of the way. Reform the schools, keep crime down, add more cops and get those damn subways built and this old, dead Mayor will leave you alone.

Now, on to the next round of tinhorns!

Blog on to tomorrow, dum dums. See you on the freeway.

I'm just so glad that the unprofessional, unimpressive, imature, incompetent, insecure and not very bright Hahn staffers will be gone (i.e. Natalie Rayes, Tim McKosker, Roberta Yang, Julie Wong). This is a very good thing for the city. Unfortunately, many of the Hahn staff members did not understand that they were there as public servants. They were truly an embarassment to the city of LA.

I guess Gil Cedillo won't have any reason to visit City Hall during his lunch hour anymore. It must have felt weird for him to be at Hahn's party while his own son was at the Villaraigosa party. Dad should take a lesson in life from his son.

Welcome to weird L.A. politics. It's called "covering your bases". That's just what people do here.

Dad doesn't have access? Okay - make sure the son/other friend or relative does then.

I always say things happen for a reason. With over 2 million people who weren't registered and sat home this will be a reality check. All the talk shows yesterday were blasting ADV. It seems NOW EVERYONE can say he's a Latino.

I predicted yesterday and it happened at 2 schools, race fights. ADV was caught lying with roy Romer saying it was 3 fights with the same race kids. Dave Byrant came on and reported that was not true.

ADV was helped by John Kerry who sent out 4 e-mails begging us to vote for ADV. Southwest Voter we all know was sneaky and sleazy helping ADV. Heard they had illegals going to precints voting for the people who weren't showing up.

For the mayoral election, SVREP launched non-partisan GOTV campaigns in more than 400 precincts and turned out an estimated 25,000 new Latino voters from a pool of about 37,000 targeted voters who had never before voted in an election. As part of its arsenal, SVREP aired more than 400 spanish-language television and 60 radio commercials. It positioned over 300 get-out-and-vote billboards across targeted Los Angeles area neighborhoods and ran an aggressive walk and telephone program with more 400 volunteers that visited in excess of 10,000 households and made more than 100,000 phone calls from 6 different phone banks using 52 phoners at any given time.

Finally, SVREP also sent out more than 50,000 vote-by-mail applications to first time Latino voters and an additional 50,000 voter education mail pieces. By sponsoring 54 other community groups, churches, and businesses across the City of Los Angeles, SVREP was able to increase voter registration among Latinos by nearly 13,000 voters, raising the number of registered Latinos to almost 350,000.

Wait for certification?

Surely you just. Maybe Hahn wants a recount? Why not?

Maybe you guys want to contribute to a fund to pay for it? While you are at it, raise enough to pay Kam what he is owed as well, please.

Hahn hasn't made one good decision in years, might as well continue the streak.

What a lack of class; no concession speech.

Kenny, where did you go wrong?

I thought Hahn gave a concession speech yesterday?

Antonio brought Robin back? Say what you want about the Hahn folks, but she is TERRIBLE. A terrible administrato.....

May 19, 2005 9:05 AM

Anonymous Anonymous said:

Hahn's two greatest accomplishments were his biggest downfall. As any mayor would have he kept the city in ONE piece and he got rid of a corrupt police chief Parks. For that he lost many votes. What does that say about the voters though? Now they will see what an incompetent Mayor ADV will be. The flood gates will open and illegals will come to LA.

Jose Huizar doesn't have a chance in hell to run for CD14. He's burned his bridges and residents are pissed that he was in cahoots with ADV and Muerlo to buy the land that was suppose to be for a school. He has no experience at all and the fact that he turned his loyalty is a major factor. Even the ADV supporters can't stand him. SAve your money Jose.

Will you guys take your CD 14 bullshit somewhere else?

No one cares what you guys do; just do it somewhere else.

Your petty intercine rivalries are just a tempest in a teapot.

You told us that the CD 14 folks hated Antonio and would vote to recall or beat him.

None of that was close to true. 84% to elect is not a mandate for defeat...

With your record, I'm betting on Jose. And, I'll remember to send him $500 to boot.

Gee, ADV lovers are sounding testy this morning. Could it be that now ADV will know what its like being the TARGET? Its open season on him and that Latino BS won't save him. All reports this morning are really playing up those race fights.

Some LAPD officers are packing up. They expect ADV to appoint idiots like John Mack, Danny Bakewell and other racist blacks to police commission. They expect to have the 3-12 taken away. But more importantly, they don't want to work for a mayor who lied and said he wanted to clean city hall when now he has his own cleaning up to do with the Florida money scandal.

One political analyst cautioned voters from concluding that Tuesday's vote represents a permanent political shift. With the city's blacks and Latinos continuing to compete for low-wage jobs, tensions will likely continue between the two groups, said political science professor Jaime Regalado, who heads the Edmund G. "Pat" Brown Institute for Public Affairs at California State University, Los Angeles.

Looking quickly at city clerk numbers, AV got closer to 73% of the vote in CD14.

Not 84% but still a repudiation of the alleged recall.

(LATIMES)"Asked if he planned to support Huizar for the 14th District seat, Villaraigosa said, 'I haven't talked to him about that yet, but he's a bright young man. He's been great on the school board.'

And he didn't talk to Travel Traders about pay for play either.

And he will finish his term as councilmember.

And he's always been faithful to his wife.

And, and, and...

Mayor Spam -- he won, you don't need to keep spinning for him. He'll have hundreds of flunkies downtown to do that for him daily now.

Ever dawn on anyone with 1/4 of a brain that maybe part of teh problem with getting people to sign the recall was they figured he was going to win as mayor so why bother trying to recall him for a job he was about to leave anyway?

AV has probably already worked about as much has Hahn did the last year in office. He has already received a commitment from Chief Bratton to stay and is working on a host of other issues. AV has always been a worker, and this is going to be a very successful administration.
