In a Mayor Sam Exclusive, we disclose the alleged, "City of Commerce-financed $143,676.92 Reasons", for infamous Los Cerritos Community News Propagandist Brian Hews, to print questionable allegations on Model City Public Officials (and family members), opposed to those allegedly financing his 21st Century Version of "Yellow Journalism (for hire?)".

Los Cerritos Community News Owner Brian Hews, can laugh regarding how the City of Commerce has help financed his brand of "Yellow Journalism (locally bestowed as the Los Chacon Fake News)".

** Blogger's Notes: With less than 48 hours remaining for the 2022 Commerce Municipal Elections, the Mayor Sam Blog has received documentation (via a California Public Records Act Request), which details $143,676.92 in General Fund Expenditures (from January 1, 2019 to May 23, 2022 for printing Legal Notices), made to the Los Cerritos Community News (part of the Hews Media Group). These payments raise serious ethical (and Election Law) questions, considering its infamous Editor/ Publisher Brian Hews recent, insipid, printed attacks on Incumbent Commerce City Council Member Leo Mendoza. In recent days, Hews has taken interest in our disclosure of his past Commerce payments and previous controversial journalistic proclivities, which prompted this response on Facebook.

For the record I am the legally adjudicated paper for the city of COMMERCE since you’re not in the newspaper business you don’t know that. The city MUST, BY LAW place their legal advertising with me under California code section 6000 and 6008… there are strict rules becoming a adjudicated paper.. you can’t just say you’re adjudicated… It takes at least three years ….We are adjudicated in four other cities. BTW… It’s a valuable service I bring to COMMERCE…publishing what the city Council is goingto consider or ordinances they are going to pass THAT AFFECT COMMERCE RESIDENTS if I did not publish them you would know what they are considering… I have also vehemently defended the commerce Casino in their battle against the tribal casinos…. that’s 30% of COMMERCE’S revenue. We expose the corruption of Leon and Baca del Rio (** are you forgetting IVAN ALTAMIRANO??) … I didn’t hear you complain about that. We also cleaned up COMMERCE’S Central Basin….NOW A VERY profitable water agency with a bright future.

In response to Brian's comments, we have some questions to ask the person, responsible for once publishing a photo of the son of the current Commerce City Administrator (who approved of the expenditures to the Los Cerritos Community News) ............, urinating at a Dodgers Game.

Question for Brian: In touting your supposed outing of corruption by former Commerce Councilperson Lela Leon and Tina Baca del Rio, did you forget current Commerce City Councilman Ivan Altamirano ....., and why?

Question for Brian: Is the reason you not naming Ivan in your supposed outing of Commerce Corruption was his five weeks of half page ads in the Los Cerritos Community News, during his failed Assembly Campaign in 2018 ........., and can you share the invoice for the ad costs (that we can't find)?? 

Question for Brian: What role did Ivan (along with City Administrator Edgar Cisneros, Councilman Hugo Argumedo, Hector Chacon and Art Chacon), have in you becoming the "Oz behind the Curtain", for the City of Commerce??

Question for Brian: How many times have you pushed Fake News, that benefitted the Chacon Political Family (and Ivan), as you were forced to disclose, under oath, as noted with the above photos from your deposition in the Leticia Vasquez Lawsuit?----Scott Johnson in CD-14.
