Searching for Monica at LAUSD District Two Candidate Forums

Got Monica? Not likely if you are hosting a LAUSD District Two Candidate Forum.

Great Friday to all, especially to our astute education observers in LAUSD District Two where Mayor Antonio Villar's cheerleader Monica Garcia fronts/shills for his education corporate supporters as the LAUSD School Board President.

Garcia, who many consider the brash poster gal of Mayor Villar’s questionable education imitative, faces a major reelection challenge, which is fueled by her forceful persona and unwavering support of the mayor.

But the normally vocal persona has been a no show as the nearly half -dozen challengers hop from forum to forum. In a recent interview with LA School Report Blogger Hillel Aron, Garcia stated the following regarding her no shows at various candidate forums

LASR: There have been a number of forums in your district.

MG: Two, right?

LASR: Is it only two? I thought there were more. At any rate, you’ve declined the invitation. Why is that?

MG: I had conflicts for those two. The District 2 coalition, I got letters sent by registered mail, it wasn’t like someone came up to me and invited me to a forum. We have work to do. We were busy trying to get Prop 30 passed. There will be forums. We will participate. It’s mostly about timing.

From how high will Monica Garcia's reelection chances fall if she continues to dodge candidate forums? Maybe Garcia does not want to face questions about supporters such as Academia Semillas del Pueblo Charter School Executive Director/Owner Marcos Aguilar and his repeated proclivities in ignoring zoning rules (see below)?
