Lopez Canyon Open Space Saved?

This is Shinola.

Richard Alarcon got his ass severely kicked at Superior Court today!
A Judge has made a tentative ruling that the City of Los Angeles doesn't know CEQA from Shinola and Lopez Canyon Open Space may not become Richard Alarcon's Truck Driving School after all!
Griffith Park Wayist has the story.

This is CEQA.

The power of a community coming together to correct the arrogance of Los Angeles City Hall has just occurred in court today. The LA Superior Court judge issued a preliminary decision today that the City of LA violated CEQA by failing to study the impacts of the truck driving school in numerous ways. She also found that the City violated planning law by granting itself a variance to put industrial truck driving in the middle of an open space zone.

The preliminary decision is likely to become final without major changes in the next few days.

It was a bad idea when Richard Alarcon and Antonio Villaraigosa announced it, and its still a bad idea today: you should not up diesel trucks running up and down a methane laced landfill. The City has federal grant money. It is time for the City bureaucrats to wake up and put this school is an industrial zone where it belongs!

It would be great if Steve Cooley could find just a little energy to DO HIS ****ING job and finish prosecuting Alarcon for election fraud.

But Cooley is a total pussy, so don't hold your breath.

The Planning Department is devoid of any professional integrity. Each & every action of theirs should be legally challenged.

HA! This is just the beginning...employes from the city have sent requests to John Chiang, State Controller to audit city of LA coffers. Let's let someone from the outside determine how well the city is budgeting their monies.
