A US Navy Ship has been named after former labor leader Cesar Chavez. However some Republican politicians and even Latino activists aren't big on the idea.

I don't agree with this "honor", but not for the same reasons that Republicans don't agree (wow a triple negative that mkes sense). In reps eyes anything with a tinge of Mexican is taboo. I don't agree because Chavez was a pacifist. Would India name a warship or weapons system after Gandhi?
The Chavez family should have politely refused this honor. If the Navy wanted to honor Latinos, there are no shortage of war heroes. But the Chavez family is still trying to make a buck out of Cesar's name instead of honoring his memory by organizing in the fields. Chavez always claimed to be a labor leader, not a Latino leader. And lately, labor could sure use the help.
Cesar served in the US Navy for four years and was a proud American. He enlisted! As a Republican who is an American of Mexican Descent, 8:53 is wrong on all three counts. He is correct on the final point as being a Labor Leader. Many activists and labor leaders would oppose Cesar for leading a March to the Border in opposition to illegals coming into the US and being used as Strike Breakers.
9:59... point me in the direction of the labor leader today who is favor of letting immigrants come into this country for work?
They are the ones blocking immigration reform, just like Chavez did.
The Navy Seal who killed Bin Ladin deserves the honor of having a warship named after him, not Cesar Chavez.

Just who will want to serve on the U.S.S. Barack Obama when they commission it? In the tradition, it is bound to be an aircraft carrier.
