Has Councilman Huizar retain Counsel for future Legal Proceedings?
Is the re-election honeymoon over?
"Campaign flashback"
As the mud turns to dust from the most recent political election proceedings in CD 14, rumors/chisme continues to make the rounds about some supposed legal issues regarding Councilman Jose Huizar.
Flashbacking to the February 1, 2011 Los Angeles Times story in which former CD 14 City Council Candidate Rudy Martinez states that he had been interviewed by FBI agents, regarding Councilman Huizar and subsequent stories on his financial status. Political observers are speculating whether the second term elected politico may face legal problems stemming from any past wrong doings.
.More after the bloggin leap.
Now the latest rumor making rounds is that Councilman Huizar has retain the services of former Assistant US Attorney Michael Fitzgerald of the Corbin Fitzgerald & Athey Law Firm. According to multiple sources, local media outlets have seeked to confirm this via Councilman Huizar's office but have received no response either way.
Fitzgerald is no stranger to Los Angeles political drama, working pro bono as a Deputy General Counsel of the Rampart Independent Review Panel, which examined the Los Angeles Police Department. In 1994. In addition, he served on the Advisory Committee for the Office of District Attorney of the Los Angeles County Bar Association. He also served as a volunteer counsel to the Special Advisor to the Board of Police Commissioners (the "Webster Commission"). Mike in 1994 received the Maynard Toll Pro Bono Associate Award from the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles.
One observer pointed out the recent FBI investigation and arrests of City of Los Angeles Building Inspectors Hugo Joel Gonzalez and Raoul Joseph Germain for accepting bribes to approve projects in South LA, as being part of a wide-ranging FBI probe of corruption within the City of Los Angeles. While the retaining of Fitzgerald by Councilman Huizar is only speculation, the fact that "many within the know", mixed with Councilman Huizar's office absence of comment, only adds fuel to the speculation.

If he has signed up that firm then he has to come up with couple of hundred thousand dollars to pay for them.
They are very good criminal defese lawyers and very expensive.

Wow big story, the guy is toast.

Michael Fitzgerald used to be the US Attorney in the LA area. If he has hired him then he is probably looking to make a deal with the feds.

This is interesting, it comes at right after the firing of Erik Sanjurjo by Huizar.
Huizar's people have long suspected Erik of being the inside guy who was the staffer who has been working with the FBI.

The press has known about this for a while, the firm just wont comment on who their clients are. This is not a new story.

I wonder who Gustavo has hired to defend him. He would through Huizar under the bus in a second.

Pfaaaah!
There's "beating a dead horse" - Reed Spit, and then there's trying to find nutrition in its rotting maggot-infested corpse (the latter defining your journalistic tactics and skills and lack of any kind of integrity when it comes to doing "real" research).
If all a blog post has to be is "some other anonymous nitwit told you" something, then there's no benefit to being able to blog. I can hear rumors better and MORE believable than this at my mom's beauty shop.
Make up something about someone ELSE for a change, huh?
You threw everything you had at Huizar for six months or more, as did the Rich whiny windbag from Glendale -- pre-primary, and he humilated your boy (winning in a third consecutive landslide).
LoooooossserS!

Do innocent people need high-priced attorneys?

Turd-jillo in the house. Next up that "other" blogger and his Clark bars drenched in mourvais.
Forget that. I'm going to Zuma Dogg's blog where there's actually some news.

Haha. Let's play "What part of this post did Red Spot not write"?

No attorney is going to save Huizar from his trip to Lompoc.

It doesn't matter who he hires if people are alrady singing to the feds. And you can bet Gustavo will have his best song voice prepped. The only reason Huizar hired attorneys is to strike a deal. Most likely - like Alatorre and Snyder - Huizar will not be able to hold public office anymore. I wonder which other vendido Skelton has waiting in the wings to take Huizar's place. Villar and Huizar, some legacy Parke has left in CD 14.

The King of CD 14 The Honorable Jose Huizar, will beat any charges brought against him. Where is the proof that Huizar has hired Fitzgerald?

Wishing will not make it so...
Funny how none of this ever seems to pan out, isn't it?

THIS CITY IS CORRUPT, PERIOD! WHY? BECAUSE AVERAGE PEOPLE DON'T HAVE A VOICE THAT LEADS ANYWHERE! IN A DEMOCRACY, THE PEOPLE SHOULD BE ACTIVE PARTICIPANTS IN THE PROCESS, BUT THE MAJORITY REALLY AREN'T. YOU AREN'T EDUCATED TO BE ACTIVE AND MOST JUST AREN'T. IT'S THE WAY EVERYTHING IS SET UP BY A HANDFUL OF PEOPLE TO SELL THE REST OF US THEIR PROPAGANDA. LOOK AT LAUSD JAMIE OLIVER CANNOT GET INTO ONE SCHOOL TO GIVE THEM AN EXAMPLE OF HOW HE COULD IMPROVE MEALS AT OUR SCHOOLS. IT'S ALL ABOUT BLOCKING PEOPLE OUT FOR MONEY AND POLITICS, NO SERVICE TO US.

There are lots of things being investigated.
money laundering
bribery
abuse of power involving LAPD
Look for a connection to Fiesta Broadway and Larry Gonzales.
Let's hope the truth comes out before redistricting is finished.
Who would best represent downtown?
I'm thinking CD9 or CD13.
