Friday Free for All
More after the jump...
The City of LA is planning a multi-million giveaway to developers of a luxury hotel downtown. The idea is the hotel could generate quite a bit of tax revenue for the City. The better idea is to reform the business environment so lots of regular businesses that aren't luxury hotels can prosper and contribute back to the City.
One wonders if billboard wacko Dennis Hathaway was in New York City when Times Square was built if it would have ever earned the reputation as "the city that does not sleep?"
You are stupid. In fact you are so stupid liberals insist you must have the government make decisions for you. ReasonTV takes a look at LA's nutty fast food ban.
Continuing, you are so stupid the government needs to make your health care decisions for you, even insisting what health care plan you have to join when you retire. Allowing seniors who have saved for their own health care to opt out would actually save the government money. But the Obama Administration, much like the Amish or the island nation of Cuba do not want anyone to go off the farm, lets everyone goes off the farm.
Labels: billboards, fast food, obamacare, real estate development

I'm surprised Obama and liberals don't tell Rebecca Black which seat she should take.
Well, that's going to change now.
Now that the libs knows we can also choose which seat we're going to take on Friday's, they are going to pass a 1400 page bill (one which they will know what's in it after they pass it) telling us which seat we are all allowed to take.
No more partying, partying- YEAH!
(thanks Michael, for the excuse to bring up Rebecca Black!)

Hilarious, this is how Villar's legacy will be summed up - in short comedy skits. Remember the first teacher Antonio laid off - his ex-wife Corina.
Skelton really pulled the wool over our eyes on this fool.

The City Budget Deficit is now $500 million. At what point will the greedy union bosses get it that they are bankrupting the city and there will be nothing left for them to gorge themselves on?

I don't care if Kevin James is gay or Republican. Not sure which one is more gross. The only problem is we have to wait another two more years before he can fix the city.

Greedy union bosses? How about the greedy city leaders. They freakin' suck!!! City employees are being asked to sacrifice more. For what? So these greedy corupt city leaders can ask us to give up more? These backroom deals are disgusting and if the city thinks employees are going to agree to what's been broadcasted all over as an agreement is going to be a rude awakening for some.

Public employees were, are and will be the kiss of death to unions and the organized labor movement.
Unions were meant for victimized workers against greedy owners. And rightly so. Pulbic employees never had anything to gripe about.

The time has definitely come to put an end to municipal unions. The City is looking at outsourcing some functions.
Greedy city bosses? Please! The politicians bought and paid for by the teachers' union, the IBEW, SEIU, etc. are anything but greedy. They are actually, Santa Claus.
I hope you write some more about how cities need to get out of the union business.

In 2009, for the first time ever, support for unions in the Gallup poll dipped below fifty per cent. A 2010 Pew Research poll offered even worse numbers, with just forty-one per cent of respondents saying they had a favorable view of unions, the lowest level of support in the history of that poll.

The recession has magnified the gap between unionized and non-unionized workers. Union workers, on average, get paid more than their non-unionized counterparts—most estimates put the difference at around fifteen per cent—and that wage premium widens during recessions. Similarly, union workers often still have defined-benefit pensions, which sets them apart from all those Americans who watched their retirement accounts get ravaged by the financial crisis.

The teachers union is one of the greediest of all. They completely screw over the members.

Higby that was brilliant how your teabagger friends played the Kevin James gay issue. That effectively neutralizes the barking chihuahuas! Unless Wendy and Alex make a deal and give up their egos I'm afraid we'll have a gay teabagger mayor.

I KEEP SAYING IF YOU EXPECT TO BEAT ANY INCUMBENT RUNNING IT'S THE 80% OF REGISTERED VOTERS WHO DIDN'T YOU NEED TO GET THAT MESSAGE. THEY NEED TO EDUCATE THEM ON HOW ALL THESE DECISIONS ARE AFFECTING THEIR EVERYDAY LIVES. THE 12% WHO DID VOTE OUT OF WHICH 5% WERE ACTUAL DECIDING VOTERS WILL ALL SUPPORT THE MACHINE POLITIANS THEY ALWAYS SUPPORT AND WILL TRY THEIR BEST TO GET YOU TO FALL IN LOVE WITH THEIR LYING CANDIDATES. BREAK THAT GRIP AND THEN YOUR TALKING AND NOT UNTIL.

Of course unions are in trouble - take a look at who runs them:
Maria Elena Durazo - a failed lawyer
Gil Cedillo - a failed lawyer
Antonio Villar - a failed lawyer
Martin Ludlow - a failed politician
Miguel Contreras - a succesful manwhore
And this is just in L.A., what must the rest of the country look like for labor? All local being run by hacks who failed at their intended careers - just falling back on labor dues to pay for their lack of success.

Unions are in trouble because they have been too successful.
They devised a way to perpetuate their power by contributing to politicians who would vote them even more money and entitlements.
The hitch comes when the people awaken and figure out that it the taxes that pay for it all.
That moment is upon us (viz. Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio) and, like the revolts in the Muslim countries, the tax revolt against the entitlements and salaries is growing by leaps and bounds.
It is a genii let out of the bottle, that once out of the bottle cannot be stuffed back in.
The next generation of elected officials will be those who campaign on a "no more taxes" issue and start reforming pensions and other entitlements.
What terrifies the unions in Wisconsin is the provison that causes the government to collect the dues for them and hand them over; it is being eliminated; now they have to collect the dues themselves. Good luck, when the dues far exceed the amound the workers are being asked to contribute to their own retirement and health plans. The workers will now be asking why they need a union, and will be refusing to pay the dues.
The pendulum swings back and forth in this life; it is now swinging against the unions and in favor of the poor taxpayers.
