Breaking News- Judge Blocks Union Busting Law in Wisconsin
A judge in Wisconsin has just halted implementation of Gov. Scott Walker's Budget Reform law asserting that the GOP passed the bill without a true quorum. More details here.

I believe that the R's are moving it in the right direction. If however there was a violation in the posting laws (brown act) then that is a legitimate reason to place a moratorium on it.
But Joe, darling, you forgot the critical part, as you always do, about this "Breaking News."
This was done by a COUNTY judge with no authority to do this.
You don't have to believe me. Just monitor it.
I guess the question is, will you consider THAT to be "breaking news" when it happens?
These comments pretty much tell the MS story. A reference to a California law called the Brown Act, and an ignorant comment suggesting that the judge in question lacked authority due to his lowly status. Considering that the state's elected officials are talking about doing an appeal, that would rule out the latter argument.
but anonymous, darling, the county judge did indeed have the authority to issue the restraining order. It can now be appealed to a higher court. Try to learn a bit about the judicial system before you spout off next time.

The law is a STATEWIDE law in Wisconsin. A STATE judge is the only judge, other than a FEDERAL judge that can do something about a STATEWIDE law. Idiot.

This is within the bounds of the county judges discretion. This decision blocks implementation of the law unless it is overturned by a higher court you stupid schmuck. He is not ruling against the law itself you dimwitted twerp. The GOP is now appealing to a higher court as they are entitled to do you dingleberry of ignorance.

Pyrrhic victory Joe.....it wont stand and you know it. Also, this was a "special session" of the Wisconsin Senate, and is NOT covered under the 24 hr. notice rule. It will either be overturned, or if the lib judges make it stand, they give notice and re-vote...you lose either way Joe!

The judge MAY issue a TEMPORARY restraining order, but she doesn't have jurisdiction to deal with the core issues.

The TRO will be gone in the blink of an eye next week.
If not, the Republicans will track the Democratic Senators to keep them from fleeing, redo it, on emergency basis, and the Governor will sign it.
The fools are wasting their union money paying some greedy lawyer to run these writs and for nothing.
I don't know about lawyer's fees in Wisconsin since my firm doesn't bother with an office there, but I'd have at least $100,000 in a retainer before I filed one of these; the time and preparation, plus possible discovery later will eat that up in less than a month.
Whoever is giving counsel to these losers, needs a course in Public Relations 101, Politics 101as well as Litigation 101.
With legitimate recall efforts underway (initial reports are that they are on target to succeed in qualifying for a special recall election), the GOP members may be thinking twice about this legislation. Any way you look at it, it's more bad press for the Governor, the state, and the GOP.

If anything, it's bad news for the Dems since Ohio and Wisconsin are moving ahead with similar measures.

The voters realized what they put in office, and are now correcting that mistake, except for the dummies in CA, who are 2 years behind.
