Today will be a great day for all Californians to show their support for our President. Whether you voted for Barack or not, he is your President, and needs to see a sea of faces (of all colors) so that we can show him he has a mandate to stay the course and get the job done.

LAPD and CHP have made a careful and calculated effort to ensure minimal disruption to local traffic, and facilities are in place at USC to make sure there's room for everyone. So show up and voice your support. This is an historic event that you will enjoy and be able to tell your kids about.

Be sensible and courteous. The delays getting into the Presidential areas will be minimal if you all follow a few simple rules. No alcohol (remember drinking in public is an offense, no laptop computers, no large cameras, no knives, chains or weapons or any sort, keep metal objects on your person to a minimum to speed progress through metal detectors - just imagine you were going through security at the airport.

Be smart and we'll all have a great day to show our support for a great man.

See you there!

Fingers crossed that Obama doesn't fuck up the traffic as badly as last time.

I do find it ironic that when he was last here, he took Wilshire through the wealthy districts, but now he's going up Exposition and MLK Blvd.

In other words, when he realized that the wealthy weren't buying into what BHO was selling, he turned to his base, the lower income blacks.

But it's odd that he would be appearing at USC, which is definitely not a liberal hot bed, except for the subsidized lower-income students.

Sad how ugly the community just outside of USC still is.

You are right, Obama did not create the traffic jam on purpose. The impact on local traffic and people never even registered at all on his radar- he's too busy campaigning and maybe that's his way of convincing himself that he knows what he's doing as president.

People voting for him expected TOO MUCH from him so what would be simple disappointment turned into major dissatisfaction or worse.

Whether Obama is brilliant or just pretty sharp, whatever he managed to deliver still fell short. On top of that, he's made decisions in the "poor" to "terrible" area, and stands by them.

He should skip the L.A. area campaigning and work on improving his administration from D.C.- but he's got a bit of that Villaraigosa bug that causes him to seek praise and adoration, especially from celebrities.

Now, take that snob Obama, from Harvard Law. Mr. Speaks So Nicely...as Joe Biden said, "He is the first, clean, well spoken black..." to run for President.

But all his gift of gab got him was a disappointed electorate, and 44% approval ratings.

So much for Obama's communication skills. 12.4% unemployment in California; 14% unemployment in Arizona and Michigan, and more than a trillion in budget deficit.

So we've got a literate president, whose work is widely disliked, and whose crown achievement as president will be defunded in January.

11:50am, it is Marine One....the president's own helicopter.

The cost of flying a helicopter to two locations in Los Angeles and back to LAX is miniscule compared to hundreds of thousands of people being inconvenienced, and idling their motors indefinitely.

== Neither a Dem, Republican or Tea Partier. I think for myself.

October 23, 2010 5:08 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said:

I think for myself it is Marine One....the president's own helicopter.

First of all, it's our helicopter. Second, when the president uses it, the Marine Corps flies at least one identical "decoy" helicopter, sometimes as many as four decoys, together with at least one heavily armed MH-53 Pave Low helicopter. The entire fleet of Marine Ones are flown out of Quantico in military transport aircraft, like the C-5A.

It's a monumentally huge operation to arrange for the flight from USC to Glendale, with hundreds of personnel involved.

If the president were traveling to LA on important business, like maybe to announce some federal help for California's unfair burden of illegal immigration caused by his sissy attitude towards enforcing our boarders (Bush was no different) then maybe there's a justification for this sort of expense to offset the road closures and chaos that accompanied POTUS 44 the last time he was here.

But this visit, especially the trip to Glendale, was all about fundraising and propping up the troubled campaigns of Brown, Boxer, and Harris.

This was a disgusting misuse of public funds, far more expensive than "the president using his helicopter" to avoid traffic congestion.

If you are going to think for yourself, try a little harder.
