The Return of Zorro!
Now with Alarcon facing terming out again in 2011 Fuentes has his eye on Alarcon's seat. Fuentes would be termed out himself in 2012 so he better get a jump on the next job move. With his election to the Council in 2011 surely a special election will be called, Alarcon can serve out the rest of Fuentes' term and then be entitled to another three terms in the Assembly serving through 2019 when at the age of 65 he can find his next job or go on Social Security.
But back to the present. Alarcon can't count yet on Felipe winning his Clowncil seat but he can plan his 2012 Assembly Campaign and by golly he's done it! And to give him a big boost Beverly Hills developer Arturo Sneider has donated nearly $4K. Sneider, who heads up Primestor Development is in the process of developing a major commercial property in Alarcon's Council District, Pacoima Commercial Center, which needs lot of City help and CRA work before Alarcon leaves the Clowncil in two years.
Of course the way you can put the kibosh on all of this is not to elect Fuentes to Clowncil, making him an Assembly lame duck and forcing Richard Alarcon to find another job.

There is going to be a special election for Alarcon's seat before 2012. Possibly as soon as 2009, 2010. And Alarcon won't be running for office again.
Doesn't that contribution violate the "spirit" of the city's ethics law? Everyone should call the whistleblower hotline.

Most newspapers are doomed. Famous investor Warren Buffet owns a few of them, but says he wouldn't buy a newspaper right now "at any price". That tells you a lot.
Liberal rags like the L.A. Times are afraid to take a stand anymore. They don't want to offend anyone, and as a result, end up pleasing nobody.
Their revenue stream has been destroyed by the internet and Craigslist, where people can advertise for free. They will not recover. Most newspapers will have to stop publishing a print version and go online to survive. And that still might not be enough.
The Mayor Sam blog gives you better stories most days than the L.A. Times.

Michael again Congrats on the scoope. How do you find this stuff out and thanks for alerting the Valley. These guys are so damn corrupt its scary how long they get away with shit. You read the papers and other politicans in other cities are getting arrested left and right because of corrupt pay to play stuff like this but where are the FEDS in LA?
Batman's parents were killed after watching Zorro. Alarcon should get credit for reducing crime in Gotham City. He can put it in a mailer.
Does Zorro even have a job skills outside of being a second rate legislator? What would he be qualified to do in the private sector? And where could he make this much money with those skils? Does anyone know if Jack Weiss has been appointed to those cushy state posts like Shiela Kuele? Where you get a big salary inconsistant with your ability to do the job.

3:17pm The only people who like Huizy are fat, insecure ugly women or men with no balls and no hair. This is for sure a kiss ass Sleazy Huizy insecure staffer or lap dog gofer in the community. If they knew anything about this blog they would know Huizy is the most hated and lazy council members on this blog. He may have skipped getting caught with the Feds on this one but word is there's a couple more investigations thanks to his ex staffers which are about 16 count so far. Henry Casas isn't too happy with Huizy right now either.

The deal was this is Alarcon's swan song, mostly because he wants a city pension...remember all the years he logged as Bradley's boy in the valley...

The real question is how long until someone (perhaps one of the above mentioned) takes on Brad Sherman!
