A local Sunland-Tujunga resident informed us tonight that she received a call from a company calling themselves
"California Opinion Research". They told her they were based out of Nevada (?) and here is a rough transcript of the conversation (she wrote this down):
"We are calling to get your opinion on the upcoming election for Council District 2, please answer the following questions by saying Favorable or Unfavorable."
" How do you feel about Wendy Greuel being elected to City Controller?
"How do you feel about the LAUSD? "
"Mayor Villaraigosa? "
"The LA City Council?"
"Now please let us know how you feel about the following candidates for CD2"
"Paul Krekorian? "
"Chris Essel?"
"Tamar Galatzan?"
"Joe Essavi?"
"Louis Pugliese?"
"Mary Benson?"
(these are the only candidates that were asked about ????)
"Would you vote for someone that has been on the Burbank School Board?
"How would you rate the job of the State Assembly?"
End of conversation.
Hmm, wonder who's paying for this survey?

Go away Paul Krekorian. CD 2 doesn't want a career politician who is duplicitous in the State's financial situation coming to CD2 and "taking care of us poor little City people." GO AWAY.
I for one am suspicious when Zuma Schmalzberg claims the City Clerk is still checking his signatures. I think the City Clerk told him the bad news several days ago and he's too embarrassed to admit it.
i support zuma dogg 100% but how can he expect to win the race by attacking the people he needs most like carmen nuch and ron kaye??
Zuma Schmaltzenbuger could be a decent candidate if:
1) He loses the jester persona, including the sing-song high pitched whiny voice, glasses, beard, hat and odor; and
2) He really bones up on the issue in the district.
I am afraid the poster at 8:15 A.M. may be correct, since we were told that Zuma dropped off his signatures with the City Clerk already.

There are many more in that club besides Nuch and Ron.
This is a pretty basic Hacopian tactic. He does it in all his races.
Do an early poll that shows his candidate in the lead to spin the early conversation to his client benefit.
No surprise here.
What he needs to do, what any candidate needs to do, is to assure that voters that they can address the issues that are most important to the voters.
I can guarantee you that isn't Deming. It's potholes, crosswalks, planning and land use, growth, density, parks, police, etc.
All politics is local.
5:35pm, You are an idiot. Did you notice I have attended a lot of the council meetings and talk to people all the time to keep abreast of the important issues. Have you noticed people throughout the city, of which CD2 is a part of appriciate and admire the effort. Is there any other candidate on the ballot who you think is more abreast of the local issues than myself? And you have to consider some of the bigger items that affect you a lot more than anything else. LIKE A SEVEN BILLION DOLLAR PENSION LOSS!!! LIKE THE BANKRUPTCY SITUATION THE CITY NOW FACES! Can you think of the ONE, SINGLE person in this city who not only predicted this situation when everyone thought the market was stable...BUT DID SOMETHING ABOUT IT AND WARNED COUNCIL...BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER IT HAPPENED. THEN WHO DID MORE TO CALL FOR AN INVESTIGATION (PENSIONGATE)!
You are worried about what color picnic benches for the park...WHAT ABOUT THE PERSON WHO SAW THE BIGGEST PSUNAMNI EVER COMING IN ENOUGH TIME TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, OR AT LEAST RAISE THE ISSUE AND GET THE PENSION COMMISSIONERS INTO CHAMBERS FOR A DISCUSSION!!!
Yeah, try and peg Zuma Dogg with the "not local" issue. YOU ARE SO DUMB...PLEASE KEEP DOING IT. The first two words I said at City Council after "Venice Beach" was "Valley Village." But I know that will piss off the Sunland Tujunga people who I have all met during the NO Home Depot campaign.
But I hope both areas of the district appricate my non-local, un-knowledge of "Special Event Fee Waivers." Ever hear of that? Not before I brought it to the attention of people.
AND EVERY ISSUE...THEY ARE ALL LOCAL ISSUES...WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT. And the council votes on stuff as a body that affect your district, because it affects the entire city.
How many of you voted for Jack Weiss because he lived in the district and Nuch was a carptetbagger from across the bridge? I mean, maybe if you were from San Diego, I could see the problem.

Here's your political lesson.
The local issues that I'm talking about are the kind of things that directly affect people's lives. Example, the traffic signal or crossing guard that protects their children on the way to school.
These are the kind of things that people talk about when they get together. It's not the pension system or Deming.
Local issues are what get people elected to the City Council and get them re-elected.
It's time for you get into the streets in CD2, gets your hands dirty, ask questions, understand what people want, and deliver it to them.
If you can't do that, or if you don't even understand what it means to know about and address those things that affect them most, then get out of the race.
928pm, LOL. I guess I have not done any getting of my hands dirty and talking to the people of the area over the past three years. I guess I must be clueless of the local issues because you want me to be. O.K., you win. I quit! But oh yeah, dummy, I think the person who predicts the city (AND THEREFORE DISTRICT) is going to go bankrupt over the pension investments and we will not be able to provide services as we are used to. And now, we ARE talking about brown outs at the fire stations.
So YEAH, I'd vote for the person who can make THAT prediction in enough time to do something about it, and let my field deputy worry about the crossing guard situation at the crosswalk.

You mention that traffic signal. I have addressed traffic signals and especially the left turn signals that were installed with faulty sensors that do not work in real life traffic situations. But you want to pretend I didn't. However, a quick google search for "zuma-dogg left-turn-signal-sensor" and you should see some quotes from when I was quoted in LA Times and Daily News and my blog. Also, you can check the lacity.org archives and spend a lot of time watching me talk about it on video over and over at the council meeting.
But I know...it has to be about the ONE traffic signal that YOU are aware of on YOUR street, and if I don't know which one that is, I am not fit to serve.
