Gil Cedillo's Desperate, Racist Attack on Chu
Katrina Leung donated to Judy Chu in 2003. She was subsequently charged with being a Chinese spy. When Judy found out about the charges against Leung, she immediately returned the money. Leung was never convicted. Read below how Gil is spinning this into a truly despicable attack against Judy Chu.

Fast forward six years. Sinking in the polls, Cedillo and his cronies have decided to resort to gutter tactics. Yesterday, they sent residents of the 32nd Congressional District a mailer that blared:
This ugly flyer is absolutely un-American.
Mr. Cedillo, you owe Dr. Chu and every resident of the 32nd Congressional District an apology.

How low can he go? After twisting Dr. Chu’s record and attacking another candidate with Facebook photos, Gil Cedillo just unleashed a vicious mailer against AAA-Fund endorsee Judy Chu. Since Dr. Chu is Chinese American and had a supporter who was charged with “spying for China”, then Dr. Chu herself must not be a loyal American. And don’t just take it from me — hear it from Cedillo’s very own flyer:

When our politicians take money from those loyal to foreign governments, America’s national interests are compromised. The motives of those who represent us in our nation’s capitol should be above suspicion[.]We can handle — and fight back against – intolerant comments from anti-immigrant GOP lawmakers like Betty Brown. But it’s doubly disappointing to see such venomous claptrap emanate from someone who has previously championed the rights of immigrants and communities of color.
This ugly flyer is absolutely un-American.

Higby didn't post my comment pointing out the irony about HIM, HIGBY, bringing attention to the alleged racism of another person.
Given the hugely racial, and racially insulting content often found on the blog, it's ironic how Higby chose Mayor Sam Yorty as his pseudonym for this blog.
Michael Higby is no one to point out other peoples' racist tendencies, unless you believe that it takes one to know one.
Unfortunately, since he didn't like when I posted this same commentary an hour or two ago, I doubt he'll post it this time.
It looks as if Gil is taking a page out of Parke's playbook. A last minute attack twisting the facts and making them appear as teh truth. But most importantly not allowing for a proper response.

To follow up on an earlier comment, the mailer was "Paid for and Authorized by Cedillo for Congress. 10808 Valley Mall, El Monte, CA 91731."
Does the "American Liberty Foundation PAC" actually exist?
According to Calitics:
"If you google "American Liberty Foundation" you'll get a bunch of links to sites and spinoff organizations that are relatively minor and all support the policies of Ron Paul--such as this one, which used to be a libertarian organization devoted to eliminating the income tax, getting guns for everyone, and documenting the pre-emptive war in Iraq.
The problem is, of course, that "American Liberty Foundation" changed its name to "Downsize DC" in 2004, and the actual search in Google of "American Liberty Foundation PAC" yields no results--though the closest is former Republican Ohio Congressman Bob Ney's "American Liberty PAC" which funded Republicans in Ohio in 2004 and 2005. Given the multiple disclosures that are required of PACs who donate to federal campaigns, it is quite surprising to see an official PAC name not return any results on Google, which suggests that the PAC either doesn't exist, or, if it does, it was very recently formed, given the fact that the FEC's list of Committees who have contributed to Cedillo's campaign does not mention anything having to do with "American Liberty Foundation"--as a matter of fact, searching the FEC database for American Liberty Foundation PAC yields no results."
What's so "racist" about this mailer? It's not as if Gil was focusing on Judy Chu's driving, that would be racist.
What is good for the goose is good for the gander. This is no different than Parke Skelton's rantings of years past of the "corrupt Latino" organizations - like the Madres of East Los Angeles. All for Antonio's political gain at the detriment of true community organizing. Parke accused Las Madres of taking government money to fund Pacheco's campaign - but no indictments, no findings, no truth. Just cheap politcal theatre which Gil is now guilty of playing.
This is just another fallout of Allison Morgan's damn the torpedoes style of fundraising - the type that will eventually take down Antonio. Take the money first and sort out the ethics fines later.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa hired Ed Boks the Director of Animal Services without checking out his references. He did not know that Boks had just been sued for racial discrimination and unlawful termination a month before he hired him. When the City was apprised of the lawsuit in January 2006, Boks told the Mayor that the lawsuit "had no merit." Antonio did not investigate and took him at his word. Judge Kimba Wood in New York has ruled otherwise.

Ex-Blackstone Pension Agent Pleads Guilty to Fraud
May 12 (Bloomberg) -- Julio Ramirez Jr., who recently quit a unit of Blackstone Group LP that lobbies public pension funds, pleaded guilty to securities fraud, New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo said.
Ramirez’s wife Annette Castro was a fundraiser for former Los Angeles Mayor James Hahn, a Democrat who served from 2001 to 2005. Ramirez and his wife donated more than $36,000 to city candidates in the last decade, including Hahn and current mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.

Just saw an internal e-mail from Gil's campaign.
There are spinning a story that is goint to run in Tuesday's LAT.
The story breaks down the Skelton-Hacopian relationship. It has:
1- Photos and time and places where they have met over the past two weeks.
2- Their on going partnership in a few business they own together.
3- What Hacopian is supposed to get for this latest black opps project. (contract for AV's governors race)
4- The role that Maria Elena had in putting together the Pleitez campaign.
Gil, Antonio, Richard, whatever you call them have one thing in common, they are pigs! None of them truly care about the residents. They only care about themselves and what they can get from you. Gil was with his wife how long before she died? Antonio screwed how many women while married? Richard snorted how many lines and voted on how many bills before he was caught? Come on, PIGS. Let's throw the pigs out and get some people who have values and care about everyone who lives in our districts. Not just about one group or another. Gil has only one thought of what he will do if he ever gets re-elected. Pitting latinos against asians, obviously not a leader for all. Say NO to ONE BILL GIL FOR CONGRESS! SAY NO TO ANTONIO FOR GOVERNOR! AND THIS WILL KEEP RICHARD, a thug, OUT OF THE STRONG ARMING BUSINESS!
